Wish I had the experience all these other people had but I got completely fleeced by Andy, came in and told him what was wrong with it he said they would have to charge 145$ for a diagnostic said I was fine with that, they didn't even give me a diagnostic they just confirmed what I told them was true and to fix it would be 780$, called around town and found three other spots willing to do same thing for 450$ 505$ and 528$ asked Andy to do it for 700$ said he absolutely couldn't so I took it elsewhere and still got charged 160$ for the diagnostic that they never even did... he was super fake nice as well. read more

My family and I have been with A-Ford-Able Auto for YEARS. We would never even consider going to another mechanic. It is so difficult to find one that you can TRUST! Jim, Danny, Jenny and the crew have always been nothing but kind, HONEST, generous and beyond helpful. Is auto-repair work expensive? Sure. Absolutely. But they have never overcharged us and have taken care of us like family for nearly two decades. They tell you exactly what's going on with your vehicle and what your options are. They do not push at all ~ they simply give you information and your options and they let you decide what's best for your budget at the moment. Their work is always top-notch but if, on the off chance, there are any issues with a repair, they take care of it immediately. A-Ford-Able Auto sets the bar and standard extremely high. I'm so grateful for them and always will be. I have so many instances where they've gone above and beyond - like helping a family member get back home when his truck broke down out of state! I've lost track of the number of times I've called to describe a noise or something I thought was an issue and Mr. Jim very patiently explained what it most likely was and every. single. time. he was correct. For example: I was backing out of my driveway early one morning... my brakes grinded pretty audibly and I was concerned that I needed new brake pads. I called Mr. Jim and told him what I heard and he explained that it was more than likely just the coating of rust that had formed overnight grinding off. He told me to just pay attention that day and if it continued to happen to come on in and they'd check it out. Well, he was right and it didn't happen anymore. Now, if he was of a dishonest sort he would have had me bring it in anyway and charge me for new brake pads that I didn't need. I had to take 2011 F150 to dealership for recall and upon returning to get truck was told in needed $925 cooling system repair. Called Affordable get another estimate and over phone they said $395. Took truck and they couldn't find these mysterious leaks . Mechanic checking truck noticed package of tail lights on dash and replaced the bad one. Best $30 I've spent in awhile ( gave them $40 told them to buy adult beverage with change) . Only place from here on out ! read more

Very disappointed with their UN affordable service. 1/10/18 we started a three day 1,000 mile trip from CT to our new home in St Augustine, FL. A few miles from our old Trumbull, CT home our 2001 Crown Victoria with 84,000 miles developed a rough idle, was surging at idle and the check engine light came on. We made a detour to our regular mechanic who diagnosed the problem as a faulty mass air flow sensor which he replaced and an intake manifold vacuum leak. Due to our time constraints he only did a band-aid fix of the vacuum leak by applying silicone sealant in the area of the leak. He told us that we were good to start our trip but should have the engine serviced once we were settled in FL. Shortly after departing CT once again the check engine light came on and stayed on for the duration of the trip but the car seemed to run fine except for a slightly rough idle. We visited Afordable Automobile Services Monday 1/22/18, described the recent history and made an appointment for Wednesday 1/23 at 8:00 AM. To be sure we got them the car on time we left it at the shop Tuesday night with a hand written two page description of the recent service history along with copies of the CT repair receipt and an engine diagram showing the location of the inlet manifold vacuum leak. When we called them on Wednesday afternoon they told us that they had moved the car inside but had not yet finished their evaluation. It was clear from the this and subsequent telephone conversation that no one had taken the time to read my documentation. We called again late on Thursday and again they told us that they were still trying to diagnose the problem. We again told them what the problem was but they did not believe us. When we called on Friday they finally agreed with our description of the problem and said that it was too late in the day to get a replacement manifold gasket and another mass air flow sensor. The car would not be ready until the following week. When we called on Monday to find out when we could get the car they told us that we also needed new sway bar links to correct "the front end rattle that we had told them about." We had never heard a front end rattle and definitely had not told them about one. We O'K replacing the links but don't have any reason to think that we really needed them. Again we had never heard a rattle and did not tell them that we had a rattle. The car finally was ready to be picked up on Tuesday. It runs fine but what should have been a relatively short and inexpensive shop visit had taken a week and cost over $900. They charged $93.55 plus tax to plug in their check engine code meter to find out what I had told them orally when I made the appointment and in writing when I dropped off the car. They charged $75 plus tax for a used mass air flow sensor that they told us they took off of a junk car in their back lot. New Delphi sensors are available online for $80. They charged $88.85 plus tax to inspect and replace the sway bar links that were causing the rattle that we did not have. They charged $16.53 plus tax for shop supplies whatever they are. We guess we should be happy that they did not charge for parking and storage for the week that they had our car. Maybe they thought that with our CT license plates that we were tourists just passing through. No, we sold out house in CT, bought a house in St Augustine and are now full time FL residents. We will not be using Afordable for our future automotive service needs. read more

RIP OFF by far. I stupidly trusted this mechanic on my car for the past 4 years for minor repairs and maintenance. In the last 8 mos of time I shelled out 3500 in repairs to Jim. I have all my receipts. I got my car back a 2nd time not correctly fixed and took it to him the next day. He did NOT STAND BY HIS WORK and left me stranded. I took my car and 8 months worth of receipts to a different mechanic in town and he fixed my car for 300 cheaper than the estimated 500 that Jim gave me for this "new" problem I had with the car upon picking it from Affordable. We went over my receipts and in 8 months time I was ripped off by 700.00. I work hard for my money and was a widow with 3 children when I first started going to Jim at Affordable. He took complete advantage of me. I am going to tell everyone I can to not use them and I have the receipts to back me up, BE WARNED if you don't have money to simply throw away don't go to affordable. read more

Jim, Jenny and Danny always take such great care of me. They stand by their work, make me aware of cost before the service is rendered. I am a single mom and reliable transportation makes all the difference in my world. One day I stopped concerned about a noise when braking. They took a look and fixed it on the spot as it was unsafe to put off for another day. I have been coming to them for over 8 years and I fully recommend them to friends and family. read more

While on vacation from NJ I had a problem with my F-150, I spoke with Jim who assured me that he would handle the problem. I had my truck towed to them and within an hour Jim had called, explained what need to be done and the cost. I agreed to the price and later that day my truck was as good as new. I was really pleased with the professionalism, the quality of work, and the price. Not being from the area and with no alternative (other than a ford dealer) i am thrilled that A-Ford-Able was there to help. They far exceeded my expectations! read more

I will never use this shop again or recommend it, a 1 star review is being generous. It's full of jiffy lube reject who have no communication between each other. They go from 1 of my supplied parts being wrong to all parts wrong than none of the parts were wrong back to 1 part wrong. Took 3 weeks for a 2 hour job and wanted to charge me more to repair my parts than I could buy the parts for brand new. This place is a joke. read more

Affordable was recommended by the a local resident from the hotel where we were staying. My car temperature had spiked temporarily, yet I'd just had my thermostat, radiator and fan replaced. I was impressed by the service. They (Jim) did a thorough evaluation and found nothing wrong. He offered several possible explanations and I left with the peace of mind that only a professional can leave you with. I highly recent this organization.
