4/16/2024 Great little Smokehouse Excellent food. 4 Stars Service was good but looses a star for no Table service and for drink refills you had to go to the front counter instead of filling it yourself. Good atmosphere and ambiance.lots of parking. We will try it again if we are in the area. Solid 3 1/2 to 4 Stars.

It's not really Brisket! More like roast that lacks flavor. I asked for sliced brisket, not sure if that's sliced or chopped???? You need to dunk in sauce to make it taste ok. The chicken is better than the brisket! Ribs are lack luster. Everything just needs flavor. Not good BBQ at all. The bread and ice tea were good. Its a nice place inside but the BBQ is subpar

This was recommended in the Indiana National Road travelers' guide, and boy am I glad they did. There's lots of chain places in Terre Haute, but you gotta give Rick's a try. Surprisingly it wasn't busy at the time of my visit during dinner time, but it was still great. I had the rib tips with mac and cheese and fries. They gave you a slice of toast. Some BBQ sauce choices at your table, like from spicy to sweet. Food was excellent. The only thing I didn't like was how I had to ask to get my drink refilled as customers were not allowed at the soda fountain. Place had great atmosphere, lots of memorabilia (some history of Terre Haute and its sports and schools), lots of rooms, country music playing, etc. Check this place out when you're in Terre Haute!

I am done 3 times I have tryed this shit hole. The lack of give a shit it the food is obvious. 3 little pieces of brisket that taste like pot roast I don't get how he is still in business. Oh yea that's right he's the only bbq place in Terre Haute.

I have been driving through Terre Haute for a year and have been considering trying Rick's but have had some hesitation. Part of it has been from my experience of being on the Southern side of BBQ and some of it was from previous Yelp reviews. Sometimes, you just have to fond out yourself and you will find out what you were missing. In this case, this was a pleasant surprise and the best place I've eaten at in Terre Haute. I went with the 2 meat platter with ribs, brisket, beans, and hashbrown casserole. I chose ribs because out of the photos on Yelp, they looked the best out of the meats. Plus, it seems in the North through my experience, ribs are the safest option for BBQ. These ribs were phenomenal: delicious smoky rub, meaty, and easy to chew! The brisket was so tender, I could cut it with my fork! Now that's what I'm looking for in brisket! The beans looked good and they had a unique sweet and smoky taste. I've never had beans like Rick's anywhere else. I appreciate that because so many BBQ joints pass off their beans as doctored up Bush beans. I asked the cashier if I should try the hashbrown casserole or Mac and cheese. She said the hashbrown casserole was their #1 side. I enjoyed it. It was similar to Cracker Barrell's hashbrown casserole but with a more homemade taste. There are 4 sauces: mild, sweet, sweet heat, and hot. I enjoyed all the sauces but I really had a hard time distinguishing one from another. I really hadn't had a BBQ sauce taste like this. It seemed to be a mix of ketchup, vinegar, and chili. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet for as good as you can hope in Indiana. Rick knows BBQ and I'm ashamed it took me a year to try Rick's Smokehouse. I'll be stopping through for more Delicious BBQ! The ribs were phenomenal, the brisket was delicious, and overall everything else was good. I would give it a 4.5 but I rated it a 5 to boost the rating.

Another great meal here. Very good BBQ and nice clean place. Management cares here. Always friendly staff. Food came out hot and delicious. Good parking lot and street parking. Enjoy coming here when in the area. Many choices of meats, combo meals. They serve you bottomless drink refills.

Dry sides - like they've been sitting out too long - and luke-warm main. The one plus is that they do have a gluten-free menu.

The hash brown casserole is a perfect complement to the entrees, in my opinion.

But seriously is it the steak or rolls with cinnamon butter that are the major draw at steak house? I will let you ponder on that., My weekday dinner stop was somewhat brief being on the road with a schedule. No problem parking, or waltzing in and being offered seating. But first a look at the case to choose a steak. The dining room was tidy and hostess friendly. Soon after being seated my waitress arrived with drink order and rolls. I wasted no time lettering her know a Ft. Worth ribeye was chosen from the case and medium temp. The sides loaded sweet potato and mixed vegetables. For drink a tap beer. As I waited on my dinner the rolls smothered with cinnamon butter helped my appetite after not having lunch. The bread was hot and yummy! Within 20 minutes food hit the table and everything was correct. I love a great loaded sweet potato and hit that first, so good! The steak was a bit overcooked, but still delicious and no complaints. The mixed vegetables fresh. I did receive a follow up and offer for more rolls. The check was taken care of at the table on their machine. Although prices have skyrocketed I feel they have done better than others trying to hold the line. This Terre Haute Roadhouse was a solid stop and got me down the road.

Our latest visit was on a Saturday evening (5/2/26) on Prom night & the place was crazy busy. I ordered a filet & got a ?? steak which I asked the waitress about & she sent the manager (Marshall) over to assist me. He arrived at our table within 2 or 3 minutes & analyzed the situation & agreed there was a steak mistake... Marshall emerged from the kitchen within just a few minutes with a perfectly grilled, melt in your mouth Filet. I asked him how he got that done so quickly & he told me he knew people in the kitchen. He has a sense of humor too! I realize that this was a simple mistake, as it's ridiculously difficult to keep everything straight when you're cooking orders for 300 people at a time... Bottom line: This restaurant is a definite go to in Terre Haute! It's a little pricy, but worth every cent in all around quality & service! You definitely get what you pay for! Thanks Marshall !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll Be Back

It isn't so special, but what comes out of the counter window is. I, and my family, had the privilege of eating an affordable, delicious, and enticing set of grilled cheeses often not seen in this area. The first was one called Sweet Meats. A grilled cheese (with multiple cheeses) on large sourdough pan bread, apricot jelly, pickled Vidalia onions, smoked gouda, and smoked cherry wood ham. An interesting combination to be sure, but it provides just an interesting and enjoyable experience. The second, pepperoni in between mounds of mozzarella, provolone, Asiago, and garlic sourdough bread called the Pizza Boy. Dipped in a side of pizza sauce, you would swear it was a pizza but better! THE Nasty Nancy was third, a basic (and by basic, I mean 5 melty cheeses) grilled cheese stuffed with shredded bbq pork. It hits all the spots you'd expect it to, and then some. Bring napkins! A new contender, Golden Boy, has approached. A fried chicken breast on top of fresh avocado, bacon, Colby Jack Cheese, and Beezer's Hoosier Gold Honey Mustard BBQ sauce on a golden soft bun. Delicious. The combination creates a heaven only found in the golden fields of Indiana. We'll definitely be back for more, and look forward to seeing this business grow and more support for the local area grow with them. Today...this local boy ate.
