We discovered the Texas Roadhouse in Terra Haute, Indiana a couple of months ago & have been there 5 or 6 times since. The service is always friendly, personal & professional. Our latest visit was on a Saturday evening (5/2/26) on Prom night & the place was crazy busy. I ordered a filet & got a ?? steak which I asked the waitress about & she sent the manager (Marshall) over to assist me. He arrived at our table within 2 or 3 minutes & analyzed the situation & agreed there was a steak mistake... Marshall emerged from the kitchen within just a few minutes with a perfectly grilled, melt in your mouth Filet. I asked him how he got that done so quickly & he told me he knew people in the kitchen. He has a sense of humor too! I realize that this was a simple mistake, as it's ridiculously difficult to keep everything straight when you're cooking orders for 300 people at a time... Bottom line: This restaurant is a definite go to in Terre Haute! It's a little pricy, but worth every cent in all around quality & service! You definitely get what you pay for! Texas Roadhouse is now the #1 franchised restaurant in the USA bumping off Olive Garden. I must agree that I prefer steak over pasta. But seriously is it the steak or rolls with cinnamon butter that are the major draw at steak house? I will let you ponder on that., My weekday dinner stop was somewhat brief being on the road with a schedule. No problem parking, or waltzing in and being offered seating. But first a look at the case to choose a steak. The dining room was tidy and hostess friendly. Soon after being seated my waitress arrived with drink order and rolls. I wasted no time lettering her know a Ft. Worth ribeye was chosen from the case and medium temp. The sides loaded sweet potato and mixed vegetables. For drink a tap beer. As I waited on my dinner the rolls smothered with cinnamon butter helped my appetite after not having lunch. The bread was hot and yummy! Within 20 minutes food hit the table and everything was correct. I love a great loaded sweet potato and hit that first, so good! The steak was a bit overcooked, but still delicious and no complaints. The mixed vegetables fresh. I did receive a follow up and offer for more rolls. The check was taken care of at the table on their machine. 'Forgot to send the text' and told us to stand up by the host stand and we would be next. Continued to seat 5 groups of 3+ people. Then asked if we were okay with the bar, told them yes (we're both 24). We ordered our drinks, neither being alcohol. We were then asked for our ID's. I didn't have mine on me and then he told us we needed to move to out of the bar. We have never had this experience before and have sat in the bar plenty of times without ordering alcohol. Had steak kabobs and steak overcooked. They had us put me on a sep plate to send back. By the time is came back out the rice and veggies were cold. She refused it so they took it off. The waitress was slow and didnt make the most of her trips. We had a spilled drink under our table and it was never cleaned we had to step over it. We had to keep asking for rolls and butter. Stopped in for dinner with the in laws, thank goodness for Dominic b/c he was so patient with our requests! We had salads, a chili, steak, ribs and potatoes - just a bit of extra fat on the steaks and ribs but everyone was happy and full when we left! A few birthdays were celebrated - Yeeeeeeee Haw, gotta love the birthday love! The establishment reminds you of Famous Dave's or Cracker Barrel with the random trinkets on the walls but it gives you something to look at while you wait. Went to the Terre Haute, Indiana Texas roadhouse on a Thursday evening, and didn't know what to expect busy wise. The parking lot was packed! Downloaded the app and got on the waiting list. Waited in are car about 10 or 15 minutes and was called in. There was lots of servers which was great, and our server was awesome!! Started out with the fresh homemade rolls and cinnamon butter. I had the 12 ounce sirloin with ribs and green beans and a salad. One of the best salads I've ever had.! My wife had the 8 ounce sirloin with a cup of chili and the house salad. They have many flavors of tea so I had the iced peach tea sweetened. Restaurant was very clean and under control for as busy as it was!! Would definitely recommend this restaurant!! read more

A vegetarian walks into a steakhouse... sounds like the beginning of a great joke, right? Not here though, even us veg heads can dine with the best of the meat eaters! I visited this location for dinner with a family member who requested it. We arrived right at 5PM on a Sunday and the place was already somewhat crowded. We didn't call ahead first (I'd recommend you do), but our wait was only about 10-15 mins. They have a few choices on the menu for someone who doesn't eat meat, more if you are a pescatarian. I will eat fish occasionally, so I ordered a grilled salmon salad minus bacon. Fam ordered a medium-well 6 ounce sirloin steak with a loaded baked sweet potato, toppings on the side. We each had iced tea to drink. Of course we enjoyed a freshly baked roll, which is always my favorite part of dining at the Roadhouse! Our waitress Maggie was friendly and efficient; she refilled teas without any prompting. My dining guest's steak was a little pink for her liking; Maggie whisked it away and had it cooked a bit longer. When it was returned to her by the manager, she received another sweet potato on the plate (she'd kept the first that came with her dinner). Mgr told her she could take the 2nd one home with her leftovers. Very nice! It's been a while since I have been in any location of this restaurant chain. I'm not sure how long ago they got rid of the peanuts, but that was a fun rustic touch that I enjoyed. I understand it probably was a cleaning nightmare and likely encouraged people to sit too closely together. Obviously this has nothing to do with a single location; I'd guess it was a corporate decision. Still, I miss this part of the dining experience. Utterly poor. My family and I went to Texas Roadhouse in hopes for a lovely dinner, but instead we recieved bad service and an incorrect order. I got a baked potato, steak and cheese fries. It took a long time just for us to get seated despite the fact we had gotten reservations, and it took over twenty minutes just to get out appetizer and drinks. Finally when we had gotten the opportunity to order, our waitress couldn't hear a thing I said despite the fact I repeated it many times. When I got my food, my steak was cold and my loaded baked potato lacked any topping besides sour cream. My dinner was very unflavorful aswell. My experience here is usually pretty mediocre, but this is my breaking point. read more

My son describes this as the worst Texas Roadhouse he's ever been to. His meat was not cooked properly. It had a lot of pink when he ordered it medium. His chicken was tough. My baked potato tasted a little odd, and I ended up sick all night throwing up. I can't say it was directly related, but it was a strong coincidence. My SIL's meat was also undercooked. I gave it two stars instead of one since my daughter said her food was good. read more

Let's start with the opening. We got seated right away. Empty bucket for peanut shells on the table, but no peanuts. Server never offered us any the entire meal. I ordered a bowl of "Texas Chili" before my main meal. I'd had it at other TR locations and it never had beans as it shouldn't being a "Texas" chili. This one did. Server came back and I explained that I guess I should have asked, but no, I did not want it. No offer to get something else as a substitute. It was a Monday night and not busy with servers standing around. While waiting for our food, our server went over to another table that wasn't hers to converse for about 10 minutes with a couple with a baby. When our food finally arrived, my fries were warm, not hot, and the wife's steak was the same. Server asked if we needed anything else. I requested mustard. We clocked her. It was 7 minutes later when the mustard arrived, after requesting it a second time. At this point, the burger was cold. We asked to speak to the manager. He offered an apology and took $20 off our total. We left with the remaining food in a takeout box. I stopped at a Rally's down the street for a hot sandwich. I'm not sure if this was just a server issue or a management issue, but I'm not planning on returning again soon. There are a couple of other options close by. read more

Well me and my wife has gone to this restaurant a lot up until a few days ago. Everything was fine we did call ahead seating like we always do. Go in sit down eat some bread and we order what we want. About 20 minutes later I notice our waitress bringing our food well it just so happens she put it on the table next to us as they say it's not our food we did not order this I knew it was our food so she says oh I am sorry pick it back up and takes it away for a few minutes she comes back with it my wife says that plate was on their table. Then she says oh yea then away it goes again a few seconds later the manager comes back and says sorry about that. We kept it but we will not be going back to that restaurant any more cause of the way they handled our food I am still very upset about it it's sad that's the way they did it. read more

And of course everyone loves the rolls. So why do I not recommend it. Steaks! For the love, can you not hire cooks who know what a medium-rare, medium, medium-well and well done steak looks like? I like a good sirloin medium. I've given the one in Terre Haute IN 5 tries at making a medium sirloin. Nope. Anything but. Hubby likes a medium filet. Same thing. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I just had the absolute worst food poisoning of my life (yes, I've had food poisoning before to know that this was the worst) from this location's steak. On Sunday, January 2nd, 2022, I asked for an 8 oz. sirloin, medium rare. As soon as it came out and I tried it, it didn't taste right to me. I couldn't pin point it, but my husband and I come here often enough to know what my usual order should taste like. I took one bite out of it then just ate everything around it. When we got home, I thought "okay, maybe it'll taste better now", don't know why I made that decision. So I ate it. Let the hell begin. It is now January 4th and I'm still feeling the effects of that steak. Nonstop puking, diarrhea, profusely sweating. I know it was the steak because I felt completely fine before, and that was the only thing I ate that day. I'm not sure if it just wasn't cooked right, or if it was bad, but I'll never take my chances of going through something like this again at Texas Roadhouse, specifically this location due to all of the other bad reviews I have seen. read more

I've gone to many Texas Roadhouses in different states and this is the best one yet! The food was PERFECT every other one I've gone to my steak was not cooked the way would've liked it and by that I mean I ordered rare to medium rare and would get well done, but this was just perfect! In general - Literally the only good thing about Texas Roadhouse is their rolls. The burgers are mediocre and the food is good but not worth what you go through. You can get way better food without the long wait. The fact that you cannot make a reservation is absolutely asinine, especially when you have a large party. They are almost always 30-40 minutes behind quote time when you do call ahead seating. I've pushed through this four times and now I'm just done, I will no longer starve to enjoy some rolls. Be better Texas Roadhouse. Have better policies. Specifically from our visit on 1/23 - Had a party of 8 and they were an HOUR behind quoted time by the time we sat down, and that was with us calling 2 hours and fifteen minutes in advance. This place in TH is ALWAYS packed. It used to be in a smaller place but they decided to build their own building and they went big. The place is huge. We went in on a Tuesday night and we had to wait! It was only a few minutes though because they try to turn tables pretty fast. The bar has several booths in it if your entire party is at least 21. I don't go to Texas Roadhouse very often but it doesn't always wow me. This time however, the food was amazing and the service was terrific. Our waitress checked in on us several times and kept the rolls coming. Two of us got chicken fried chicken with gravy, and the other person got steak and ribs. The steak was seasoned well and cooked the right about. Super tender. The fried chicken is on of their specialities and is a must try! read more
