**If I could give Rick's Tire & Auto Service negative stars, I would.** I normally don't write reviews, but my experience with this company was so horrendous that I feel a responsibility to warn others. What happened to me should never happen to anyone else. This nightmare began in **May 2024** when I brought my car to Rick's Tire & Auto for an oil leak repair. I paid **$1,600**, expecting a resolution. Instead, they returned my car in worse condition. The timing was off, and my car even completely shut off on me while at a car wash. I immediately called them, returned my car, and was informed by Jeremy that my drive belt had shredded. They charged me for a new belt. After this "repair," my car still wasn't fixed. The timing was still off, and my car broke down again. A different mechanic inspected my vehicle and confirmed that the original oil leak had **never been fixed**. The leaking oil was causing the drive belt to shred repeatedly. I went back to Rick's, demanding a refund. By this time, I was dealing with a new manager, **Dante**, who told me I needed "recorded proof" that the issue wasn't resolved. I took my car to **Grand Prairie Ford**, just down the street. They confirmed the oil leak was still present and provided documentation. When I returned with this proof, Dante said he needed to speak with his regional manager. After some back and forth, they offered to fix my car again and cover Ford's diagnostic fee. Against my better judgment, I agreed. They kept my car for **three weeks**. When I finally got it back, they had fixed the oil leak, but now they claimed I needed a new engine. To make matters worse: - My battery was completely dead, and they couldn't explain why. - My gas tank was on **0 miles to empty**. - The interior of my car was filthy. - A dashboard compartment lid was broken. I decided to take my car home and never return to Rick's Tire & Auto. I didn't even make it **five minutes down the street** before my car of 10 years broke down completely in the middle of an intersection. Dante made me wait over an hour for assistance and refused to pay for a tow truck. He had the audacity to tell me he was "going above and beyond. To top it off, they didn't even reimburse me for the diagnostic fee as promised. " My car, which I'd driven for **11 years without major issues**, had been trashed by this shop. I brought it in working, and now I can't even drive it. Their incompetence and negligence have forced me into additional costs and frustration. All I wanted was a proper repair--or at least my money back. Instead, I'm left with a ruined vehicle, disrespect, and endless headaches. Please, spare yourself this nightmare. **Avoid Rick's Tire & Auto Service at all costs.** read more

After a poor experience at another shop, I took my food truck to Rick's on the recommendation of a friend. Richie and his crew were always straight shooters; absolutely honest and respectful at all times. I never felt like they were trying to force me to do more than was necessary nor did they ever treat me like a "dumb woman" as the other shop did. Richie has been helping me with service repairs and regular tune ups for a few years now. He's kind and knowledgeable. He has always been very honest and not a slick up seller. He understood I was a single lady on a budget and just needed to keep my car in good shape. In an industry not known for great service these guys are the best. I will mention the service is not white glove by any means- if you have a nice car be careful using them. They have left grease, dirt and random tools inside my car after the service. My new husband went there with his nicer newer car and was not impressed with the mess they created inside his car when the work was only needed on the exterior. For my car that is beat up - I am happy with the service and price and can deal with a little mess. read more

I've lived in Irving most of my life and feel as if I've been to every single repair shop in town, from the Pep Boys on 183/Beltline to Honcura to Link to Kwik Kar to the Nissan dealership. They've all ranged from never-going-back-again to not bad, but Reed's Car Care has definitely been the best of them all. I took my beloved 1995 Geo Prizm there recently to get her all fixed up -- she needed not only an oil change but new brake pads and several other things as well. Reed's crew took care of my car and understood that -- although I have a much newer Hyundai back home -- this was my pride and joy. I've taken care of her for years, babying her and making sure that she got all the maintenance she needed, and then some. I want to keep driving her until she collapses in my arms, and Reed's made sure that she was back in business within hours after I dropped her off. The staff there are friendly and professional, and Reed himself makes sure that he's available if a customer has any questions or concerns. I've seen everything from a workhorse Ford F-150 there to a classic Mustang to a DeLorean (!!) in their shop -- their reputation is such that people who love their cars trust Reed's staff to know how to take good care of them. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for auto repair work done in Irving and the Mid-Cities. read more

I have been to this Rick's many time in the past with my car and truck. I have had no complains with them until now. This shop has a new manager and that is why I will never be back. My car was damaged while in their possession and the manager denies any wrong doing. The car did not have a dented hood when it went in, but did when it came out. It is that simple. Everyone at this shop is lying, they know what happened to my car and won't admit it. This manager is not an honest business man. He's cheap too, the repair cost for my car is only cost $375. I will not be back to this Rick's location as long as this guy works there. I am having to sue them for the cost of my repair. Take your car somewhere else. read more

DON'T get fooled by Reeds "Good old boy" style of speech. When they did my brakes, somehow the balance of the tires got messed up. It caused strong vibration in the steering. I took it back, the FRIST time, and they said they "could not detect it" So finally, the SECOND time I took it back, I had one of the mechanics ride passenger as I drove. The shaking was impossible to miss. They rebalanced the wheels, and sent me on my way. I ended up with damage to my undercarriage due to the times I drove it with the shaking between the first "fix" and the second time I took it BACK to them. TOTAL RIPPOFF!!!!!!! They were quick, professional, highly competent, thorough, and very accommodating. I thought I had a difficult problem for them to fix, because I had taken my truck other places that treated the problem as if it were too difficult, too time consuming, and too expensive to fix. They wouldn't even look at it! But Rick's treated my problem as if it were no big deal at all. And it was done in less than 24 hours - even knowing I was not in a big hurry. I had a positive experience at Rick's car care center. I was visiting Dallas from Houston. My wheel hub assembly went bad on my Ford F-150. I called Ricks and they had a wrecker call me for a tow to their location. Which most other mechanic shops that I called previously before ricks didn't even offer.and yes I know it's not a difficult task to hire a wrecker but them handling this definitely take a load off while you're already stressing about your vehicle. They brought my truck in immediately and began taking it apart. Gave me an estimate within 10 minutes. But that may vary depending on your situation. Mine was a "well there goes your problem right there" situation. I ok'd the service which I found to be s very fair price. They had my parts ordered within 15 minutes and installed quickly and had me home that same night. read more

WOMEN BEWARE. I have never in my life written a bad review but feel compelled to write one for Rick's on Beltline in Irving. I came to Ricks on Thursday June 1st around 4:30p with my tire pressure reading low. I figured I needed a patch on my tire. I drive a 2016 Cadillac with only 15k miles on it and I am a female. They took my car around to the side and came back in about 5 minutes and said that my tire has been patched twice before and they absolutely cannot repatch it. I would need a new tire. I thought that was weird since it's not old and doesn't have very many miles on it. The two men at the register said they cannot patch and would not patch it "they even have articles open right next to you that talks about the dangers of this." They told me if I leave there's a good chance the whole tire would blow since the patches are on the shoulder of the tire. It would not be a slow leak but a real blow out that would cause me to "swerve all over the road and into others." I called my husband and he said that two patches sounds weird, leave and he would take it somewhere. Once I was home he noticed my rim had not even been touched. In order to see where the leak is coming from they have to take off your rim and tire and dip your tire in a barrel of something water like. Not a finger print on the rim until my husband touched it and my tire was completely dry. He took it to the shop he uses, Nicos Tires on Story, and they took the tire and rim off, dipped the tire (which all takes at least 20 minutes fun fact) and only found one screw in it and it HAD NEVER BEEN PATCHED BEFORE it was also not even on the shoulder of my tire. I don't think Ricks even looked at it! Total cost - $10. And lesson learned that Ricks is taking advantage of its female customers.
