Super small out the way establishment located in downtown Oxnard across from the transportation center. My little born and raised in South West Detroit, Mexican Village area heart is SO happy to have found this place. Once again, courtesy of Erica G. (If you aren't following her for all LOCAL foodies things in the 805 - you're wrong) My brother and I were in the area and we just had to stop and get this treat - it was worth and reminded us of home.

Refreshing water and milk Nieves de Garrafa and tejuino (fermented corn dough, a probiotic beverage). Many flavors to taste if you ask for a sample before buying. Great service. Essential eats in Oxnard!

Best "ice cream" I could ever dream of. We usually order pistachio with coconut, that combo is to die for. I love how the texture is icy and gritty at the same time, we can actually taste the real pistachios and coconuts used. Among other flavors, our other pics are strawberry, Mamey, or mango. Service is quick and easy, you just walk in and they ask you what you'd like. They have a pretty large menu so you could even get banana splits, mangoneadas, tejuinos, and even chips with salsa. Prices are also reasonable!

some of the ice cream choices, pistachio chocolate vanilla strawberry. i did not name that all.

My fave spot and i'm not from Oxnard! This is a little spot right by La Gloria market that's serves THE BEST ice cream. If it's hot there will be a line. This ice cream is the best because it's not heavy, it's sorbet with only a few ingredients. Some have a milk or cream base. Personally i like the fruit based ones. We stop by here every-time we are in town even tho it's out of the way. Stop by and try it, it's light and refreshing. They have 2 scoops 4 scoops or 7 scoops to choose from. You can also buy fresh fruit all cut up ready for tajin and chamoy or other mexican specialty snacks or drinks. The place is small so don't miss it!!

This little "Mexican" ice cream shop had different varieties of treats at a good price. This place is small so there were quite a few people waiting in the line that was out the door. The line moved quickly thanks to the nice ladies behind the counter. I got the Mangonada for a perfect Saturday treat. In this Mangonada they used crushed ice and one scoop of mango ice cream on top which made this one much more of a drink. I prefer more ice cream and less ice, but none the less it was good.

I'm not sure if the shop has a/c and it was not working or if they do not have a/c but was too hot to sit down inside with our ice cream. I've only had the Taiyaki (fish waffle with filling) at the shop in the Ventura Harbor so this was my first time trying a different shop's Taiyaki. The cashier took our order and our ice creams were ready within 7-8 minutes. I ordered an Ubechata Taiyaki with Oreo crumbs for my topping and Nutella as the filling inside of the Taiyaki. It was a great tasting ice cream and the Taiyaki was filled with ice cream and Nutella. So I felt like it was a good amount of ice cream. At $8.50 it felt like a good value. The other desserts looked delicious but the bowls servings looked larger and was $13+. This is a great addition to the Collection and is great if you are craving a Taiyaki but don't want to go to Ventura harbor.

Almost every table/seat was filled in the establishment Food ordered Mango Bingsu ($13.50) Hot fish filled with cream ($3.95) Food ratings Mango Bingsu; 7/10 + add hot fish with each bite = 7.5/10 The texture of the Japanese snow ice with the mango was great and melted nicely on the tongue. However, I couldn't help but think how much better it would be if some texture was added. So as a result, we added pieces of our hot fish with each bite and it was even better! It turned this 7/10 to 7.5/10. I love that the size small was big enough for two people to share and light on the stomach so we didn't feel heavy after eating it!

I speak a little Spanish and my order was ok Kind of upset about the onion and cilantro, it's a big part of flavor for me because I do not get meat. Pictures are the chips and salsa because I was too hungry to wait for pictures with the burrito, they are thorough and they listen to your needs. 4 stars because they could have been welcoming and they forgot my onions and cilantro And I feel like they charged me the gringo tax for the chips and salsa lol

A visit to La Gloria is kind of like taking a little trip to Mexico - but with American health and…read moresafety standards. Next to a full service Mexican American market with dry goods, a good produce section and meat counter is a second building housing a full service hot food kitchen with all the good Mexican meats served any way you like (tacos, burritos, tortas, combinations with rice and beans) , and a panaderia (Mexican bakery), tortilleria (corn tortilla production), fruteria/jugueria (fruit & juice bar with good aquas frescas and liquados), and neveria (ice cream counter). Everything I've ever tried here is good. Eat in (para aquí) or take out (para llevar). There is indoor seating for a few dozen. And in between the two buildings (market and restaurant) is a serene Mexican American garden patio space with quiet and very pleasant outdoor seating. The default language is Spanish but the staff also speak English. Down through the years they have been unfailingly polite, patient and indulgent with my rudimentary Spanish language skills. This is one of my happy places. I've been eating here on and off for 25 years. My family like it. Friends I have brought all like it. In all that time the only negative thing I have to say is that their cafe de olla (at the panaderia counter) is rather too sweet for my taste. Which is to say, it is properly made in classic Mexican style. Truth be told I've not yet tried their Mexican style ice creams (made in house) but many flavors are water-based and thus are more like an American sorbet than American ice cream. A couple popular flavors (like strawberry) come in milk-based and water-based style ice cream. This is the traditional Mexican way. Their prices have gone up some down through the years, but that's the restaurant biz in America. I think they still deliver good value for good food and services.
