I had to try this ice cream place after a relaxing afternoon at the beach. There were like 40…read moresomething flavors of ice cream, but I knew I wanted to try one of their fish cones because they're so cute. Went with the classic yaki (short for taiyaki which are the Japanese fish pastries they use) and it did not disappoint. Great vanilla ice cream. The yaki had more ice cream and chocolate syrup inside. And there were nuts and rolled wafers for the toppings. Delish. Service was fast even with a small line. They have multiple cashiers, which is helpful. There are also a couple of servers who bring out the orders, so it was just super efficient. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area. There are so many different flavor combos to try!

If you're visiting Ventura Harbor Village, don't skip a stop at Coastal Cone & Parlor! It's one of…read morethe most popular dessert spots in the harbor, and for good reason. I came here for my favorite Pineapple Dole Whip soft serve, and it definitely hit the spot on a warm day. They offer several serving sizes, including Kids, Small, Regular, and a Waffle Cone, so there's an option whether you're looking for a light treat or something more indulgent. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and had such a relaxed, beach-town vibe that made the experience even more enjoyable. Grab your ice cream and take a stroll around Ventura Harbor Village while enjoying the ocean breeze--it's the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Parking is convenient, with plenty of spaces available. On weekends and holidays, parking is just $1 per hour, making it an easy stop while exploring the harbor.

Foster Freeze is a California institution. Since they have closed locations in Santa Barbara…read more(tears) and Carpentaria, this Ventura location is where we go for our fix. The building is an original, 60s beach modern. It's a bit rundown, but it's clean and the staff is friendly, with plenty of parking and seating. Large menu of various burger shack food items: burgers, hot dogs, tacos, (fried!) burritos, chicken, fries, rings and of course, their famous soft serve! The soft serve is the thickest and creamiest, and comes in all shapes including cones, dips, sundaes, malts, blizzards and our favorite, their shakes. I have not had a better strawberry shake anyplace, including expensive ice cream shops. The crinkle fries are always hot and crispy and the food items are what you would expect - fast food but a notch up from the major chains. It's cash only and like most places, prices have increased over the last few years, but we will continue to return whenever we are in the area or passing through.

I get to it and here is what I notice:…read more1) Parking area is full of potholes 2) They only take cash 3) Only had one flavor of ice cream...vanilla 4) They charge $5 for a basic single cone of ice cream that is 3 inch tall ( including the cone. I understand they sell other things but how tf are you gonna call yourself "foster freeze" when you only have one measly flavor of ice cream. And what kind of shady place only takes cash. This is not a taqueria. Lastly for 5 dollars I can buy a pint of ice cream ffs. What a dissapointment. Not worth coming here to damage you car's alignment. If youre gonna spend money for ice cream, go to dairy queen or baskin robins. The places best days are behind it.

I usually buy ice cream from a truck, but today I felt like going to a store, so I visited. The store's interior is classic and reflects Mr. Softee's history. Looking at the old photographs displayed in the store, you can see that Mr. Softee has been loved by people for a long time. I usually order a simple vanilla soft-serve ice cream from the truck, but since I was at the store, I decided to try something different. I had a strawberry sundae, and my friend had a warm chocolate cookie sundae. Of course, both were delicious. The ice cream here is simple and reminds me of the ice cream I had as a child. They also sell original merchandise in the store, which was really fun. It's a fun place for both children and adults. There isn't much parking space in downtown Camarillo, but I was able to find street parking this time.

We stopped…read moreby about 30 minutes before closing, which I feel like is reasonable time to visit a store, but the staff acted like we were inconveniencing them. They seemed more interested in closing than helping customers, and the service reflected that. We ordered two twist cones with sprinkles, and each cone got a single spoonful of sprinkles. At the Camarillo location, the tops are always covered, so this felt cheap and intentional rather than an honest mistake. If serving customers 30 minutes before closing is a problem, the posted hours should reflect that. Between the unfriendly service and the noticeably skimpy portions, this location doesn't live up to the Mister Softee name. We won't be back!
