I had a great experience today. Took my Mom for lunch. Seated quick in the outside seating they set up which was clean and cute. Ordered Morcilla and Chicarrones for appetizer. Yum! The Morcilla was very good, not spicy. Also the Chicarrones were perfectly fried and crispy (not dried out like some places). We split a combo which was half chicken, salad and rice and beans. I have to say this is the only reason why I'm writing is because this is the 10-20x this has happened! I always order the family combo I switch out the fries and get tostones and I always always ORDER IN SPANISH. And I always order the garlic sauce. the crazy part is that I don't just order 1 order that includes 3 cups I ordered 3 which should be 9 cups!!! What do I get? No garlic sauce or extra hot sauce or no sauces at all, or they make me pay and only give me 3 tiny cups. Today I did my regular order and the lady on the phone said we offer that sauce small tube for $5. The order gets her and I only of hot sauce!!!!! Wtf!!!! Heres the worst part. I call upset and the same lady picks up and tells me, "no you order hot sauce." Lady how are you going to tell me I ordered something I don't like. Are you serious? I walked in and the place is so cute! They only take cash!!!! It's a narrow entrance that opens up into a slightly larger dining area. I'm not sure about the restroom situation since I didn't need to use it. Food came out piping hot, flavorful, and nothing short of delicious. BUT! there was a hair on the table that wasn't mine. I should have checked the reviews on this place before dining here. Originally we drove to kantu however they were closing so i decided to try rico's. I figured you can't go wrong with pollos a la brasa. Apparently you can! This is by far the driest rotisserie chicken i've ever had in my life! And i've had a lot. And i used to work at a peruvian restaurant! The bandeja paisa was also mediocre. Nothing special in terms of flavor. I guess the best part would be the portion size. But if the flavor isn't good then what's the point? I also hate having to write this review because we are going through a pandemic and i know businesses are struggling as it is. But i would be upset if i spent money on mediocre food. To top it off the waitress refused to give us tap water cause she wanted to make money off of us. I don't believe in paying for water especially when nyc tap water is better then poland spring. At least they didnt tack on the gratuity like most latin restaurants do. read more

I'm giving this review without trying out their food. Just got an order of a pandeja paisa for 19 dollars (very expensive). Delivery guy never called me to come outside and had to tell the restaurant to call me. The only call I got was from them, and I had to wait an extra 15 mins for him to come back cause no one opened when he called(HE NEVER CALLED). Just touched my food and it's cold. RUDEST PEOPLE EVER. Here are my two experiences at this Rico's Chicken: 1. Wouldn't let my son use the bathroom after we ate here because we weren't ordering food at that moment. I explained we live across the street and have eaten here before and she said, "either sit down and order something or leave". 2. With a $50 to go order the same nasty woman wouldn't give me a tiny plastic thing of chimmi churri because we didn't order steak. We told her we like it with the chicken and she simply replied, "Chimmi Churri is not for chicken, it's only for steak". With a $50 order, she denied us $.25 condiment because she's just a mean person. Look at how many reviews on Yelp say the same thing! Wake up Rico's you guys suck! I had a taste for pork chops and ordered a pork chop meal for $12. The restaurant is small, very clean with a cute decor. I ordered my food to go and it took a little longer than I expected. The staff were friendly and I really hate giving a poor review but the food was way too bland to be a Latin spot. I received rice and beans and a small side of salad with my porkchops and the salad was my favorite. The portions were big enough for me to eat two days and the 2nd day of food didn't taste any better than the first. For $12, I was expecting a lot better. We have been wanting to try this place. One night we saw the rotisserie chicken spinning and found parking so we came in. We ordered the whole chicken combo, and chicharron. Chicken was very salty and the chicharron was unrecognizable see picture. DRY, very DRY. How can anyone pass off a shitty piss of meat this way. It does not take much to lose a customer, why serve a dry overcooked piece of chicharron. The seating area is clean but with a kitchen area so small, i can see how it is difficult to keep clean. Workers are touching raw chicken and cooked chicken all without gloves, dropping and picking up things from the floor.... Not such a clean operation. AT 28.00 not worth it. read more

I come to this location at least once a week. The rotisserie chicken is on point, the beans are flavorful. Their steaks, specifically the churrasco is absolutely delish. The cook makes it as ordered each time. The only negative about this place is that the cook may tend to over use the salt a little bit. Sometimes the soups are too salty and the tostones (fried green plantain) have too much salt. Additional salt should be added by the patron, not the cook. I've order for delivery from many places like this so I kinda knew what to expect but I was very surprised with just how much better the food was here. The chicharrons were so good. Plenty of pork on them and perfectly crispy skin. Also, the steak was so good and cooked great. It really was delicious. The chorizo was large and flavorful. The chicken had no taste whatsoever it was just like they took the chicken out of the package washed it and put it on the spit and that was it. The White meat was very dry and the chicken had zero absolute zero taste. My friends did not think much of it as well .I cant see how other reviewers are saying this is the best chicken around.This is the exact same tasting chicken that I could buy at a supermarket deli counter or even in a BJ's Wholesale Club but for one third the price. I love this place, My go to place for Delicious Colombian Food. The food is consistently great and the prices are fair, the staff is always very courteous, friendly and attentive to you. A few TVs around the dinning room usually showing sports. The Bandeja Paisa is excellent, and so is their rotisserie chicken juicy and delicious. Decor was very nice, staff was very attentive and fast, generous portions and tasty, and reasonable prices. We were so happy to have a new place!!! But, that was during the summer. Things have changed and not for the better. Staff seems to be different too. A couple of weeks ago the chicharrón we got was 5 seconds away from being burnt. They gave us another order and made us feel as if we were being difficult. Came back one more time in case they were having an off day.... The empanadas looked as if they were left overs from the baked batch and had been fried. Service was bad except for one girl but she left before our meal was over. It's sad because everyone was so polite during the summer. You couldn't walk out without several thanks yous and good byes. This last visit we noticed that portions were cut in half and as we were leaving the guy at the register, and perhaps the manager, were having an intense conversation about fútbol. In an effort to avoid all the bad food options at Atlas Mall, I ventured a little further to Metropolitan Ave. I passed this place several times, but didn't know the name or if it was still in business. To my happy surprise it was! I went in, there were a few guys behind the counter but no one greeted me. The older man who looks like he's either the owner or someone in charge, didn't acknowledge me. Looked at me, and went about his business. No smile, no greeting. I wasn't sure if it was place ur order and sit, sit wherever u want, or wait to be seated. There were quite a few people at the time so I sat all the way in the back. I ordered the 1/4 chicken combo. The piece of chicken was extremely tiny. The entire piece was equivalent to a piece of thigh at any other chicken place. However, the chicken was surprisingly tasty. Very comparable to Pio Pio. Pretty good green sauce and great beans.
