A mess of tasty food. I don't belong in Sunflower Cafe. I'm a not so large fellow, but large enough to pale in comparison with the regular crowd that visit. All these healthy people make me embarrassed as to what I've done to my body over the past 60+ years. My daughter says that it's never too late to turn it around. But like an oil tanker plowing through the ocean waves, that turn is going to take awhile. The first bend in that turn came in the form of Ginger tofu on a bed of kale and brown rice. Boy is that stuff ever good! Fresh, and if I'm at liberty to say, healthy. So I'll be crossing the threshold of Sunflower in the future. I'll get what my daughter had. Beats me as to what it was. I ordered the Southwest Salad; added tempeh and garlic aioli. The salad was good but nothing extraordinary or memorable. It's definitely a salad that you can make at home. The Sweet Potato Casserole was disappointingly bland. It lacked both flavor and sweetness, unfortunately. The Collard Greens were actually very good! From what I tasted at the cafe, these were the best. The cafe itself has a very welcoming aesthetic. There was a man who welcomed me as soon as I entered. He was very nice and helpful. There was a salt and pepper haired woman who had an extremely unpleasant and unwelcoming attitude. I even asked a question and she ignored me. So believe those reviewers who speak on this. There's a large covered patio in the front of the restaurant, regular inside seating, and a smaller uncovered patio in the rear. I was really hoping to have a better experience here. Loved this gem of a place! Adorable, huge menu, friendly and knowledgeable staff, cute deck and plenty of seating, free parking. Lots of gluten-free options and whole place is vegan, whoo hoo! Easy to avoid many intolerances for me. We shared the gluten-free lasagna (delicious), and gf veggie burger wrap along with a greens side and a Pad Thai side. Yummy!! So glad to finally try this healthy vegan restaurant. Staff were helpful in answering my questions about their different options. They have wraps, bowls, burgers, rotating specialties, sides, etc. I got the burger bowl & especially enjoyed the black bean hummus I added on! One must visit this spot for incredible vegan food! I had the "famous BBQ bowl" and it was great. The collards and the BBQ are the standouts but the whole thing was tasty. Spousie had the "loaded potato bowl" and allowed me a sample. The cashew queso and the "bacon" bits are the standouts here. We both liked hers, so good! The folks working there were very nice and super helpful. We meet two cats outside and talked to the folks working there about them. One of the best vegan/vegetarian/clean restaurants in the Nashville area - so grateful to live and work close by. My go to is the buffalo tempeh wrap and the famous bbq. Today I need warm, comforting, filling food and went with the famous bbq bowl over season potatoes, melted cashew queso, and a side of garlic aioli and it was absolutely perfection!! The service is consistently friendly and quick, you walk up to order and then are given your food on a tray. They have beautiful indoor and outdoor table space. While their private parking lot is tight, I've never had an issue getting a spot. Their desserts are also a big hit, didn't order any today! They did offer some free halloween candy. I still recommend eating here. I still do at least 2 or 3 times per month while I'm working in the Nashville area. But here are some updates: The staff, ambiance and food remain great. The prices remain a bit higher than I'd prefer, but it is Nashville, so... The only thing that ticks me off and I don't think I've realized before, or it is a new thing is they charge a 5% fee for all takeout orders. WTF!!! Another Tax, but one imposed by the owners "to cover the cost of the takeout containers," I was told. Well, with the current inflation, added costs because of tarriffs and higher labor, raw goods/food costs, etc. the last thing I want to be paying is yet another form of a tax, except this one imposed by the owners, not a government. Just as I need to do for most things these days to try to keep up with higher prices while my salary remains unchanged for the last two years, I have no choice but to reduce my visits to this establishment, 5% To Go "Tax" added to a 9-10% real government imposed Tax resulting in a $58.04 meal (which I need to last two or three days to stay within budget) and including a $6.71Tip to the folks who do nothing else but scoop out the food and put it into a bag for me to takeout is now too much. So to help offset the 5% takeout charge, I'll eliminate the Tip for the staff and I'll eat here less. I still highly recommend this place if you can afford it. read more

This place is slightly hidden. parking in the back. This is my second time here and not the last. It will be a staple to come check and have when in Nashville. Everything here is vegan, and packed with flavor. Their burgers are some of the best I've ever had. The jalapeno burger is awesome! Its got a tiny kick to it but the flavor is great. The bbq beef is what they are famous for but it's not my favorite. The service is super quick and friendly. All the food is already prepared and they have cafeteria like set up. Oh my goodness this place is heaven on earth. There's such a big selection of pastries and every pastry is made with love. My favorite pastries were the s'mores cookie, lemon sugar cookie, and mango upside down cake! For the entree I ordered the California Sandwich and my boyfriend got the Banh Mi. This is a great spot to go for Vegan/Vegetarian. The food is very good and the staff are friendly. I myself am not vegan or vegetarian but I am completely open to eating it. Food is food :) To the meat eaters out there, go into these places with an open mind, I guarantee you will enjoy it. A good diet consists of "mostly plants" as I heard a doctor say once before. We as Americans eat too much meat I believe. Meat used to be a treat and a special thing. Saying that, yes I am a meat eater, and yes I probably eat too much meat. Set back on a side-street, this retrofit yellow house offers a wonderful assortment of salads, sammies, wraps, bowls, burgers and more. Guests order cafeteria style from friendly staff, then grab a table inside the quaint interior or outside on multiple decks. Ample parking and seating available - making it a great place for a casual meetup. The food is really delish - and so many choices. Only suggestion for improvement - consider investing in better AC. On a summer day in July with temperatures reaching 97°, the AC just couldn't keep up. But otherwise, definitely stop by anytime you're in Berry Hill for a great meal. read more

But the kombucha???? Now that blew me away. I've been drinking different kinds of kombucha for years and this one has to be my favorite by far. Walking in feels very comforting. The back patio was closed today, but I see how someone could have a wonderful dining experience out there. There's still an area in the front for outdoor dining where half receives shade and the other half exposes you to the sun (choices). I couldn't tell if all of the menu items are displayed, but I definitely like the buffet style set up as a newbie. I tend to think if it looks & smells great, it will taste great too Remember, everything is vegan so be sure to inform carnivore friends There are Cannabis, CBD, and kombucha varieties of beverage if you're into that. There's also alkaline water and agave soda if you're into that. Ohhhhh! In Berry Hill, a vegan café called Sunflower. The food--curry and tofu over rice, and a sesame noodle Thai salad--was excellent. Fresh, perfectly prepared, served on a line without without hurry. There are cats, or the memory of cats here. The staff moves like they've done this before. It is casual. It is exact. May word be passed from one hungry plant-based pilgrim to the next. This was kind of a cafeteria-style setup, with indoor and outdoor seating. That isn't my favorite thing; I much prefer my food freshly cooked, but the thing here is that my salad bowl was priced as if I was getting full service at a nice sit-down restaurant. Having said that, it was quite conveniently near the highway and fast, and any vegetarian/vegan/etc. will know how uncommon it is to find such a place in most of the country. My salad delivered a nice flavor mix, but I was more intrigued by their dessert selection, which included an impressive-looking chocolate mousse. Given that it's all vegan, I would guess it's avocado-based? Whatever it was, it was a dark, bittersweet chocolate, that tasted just as good as the ordinary non-vegan mousse. Anyway, you can eat healthy here or indulge a bit, but the overall experience, while good, was not up there with some of the other vegan Nashville restaurants I've tried. read more

Hubby and I stayed in Nashville for a 6 days. We came in late for a quick dinner. The sunflower giant sign on the road really helped us find this place in the dark. Even though we walked in late their staffs were super nice, and didn't mind giving us recommendations. We got the famous barbecue bowl with quinoa. The bowl were big enough for the both of us (still have leftovers...) They also let us try both collar greens and kale. My husband enjoyed the green, and I liked the kale. The garlic aïoli on top was amazing. We mixed everything together so every bites were colorful and tasty. If you want friendly + quick service, try this place.
