    Hot Fried Chik'n Salad
    Shakia C.

I came here today after church service and order the hot chicken salad. I've tried vegan food before but this was my first time going to a vegan soul food restaurant. It was my first time trying seitan and they made it very flavorful. A couple of people from our table ordered the nachos which looked really good, I would probably try that next. It's self service where you order from the kiosk and then wait for your name to be called when your order is ready. Parking is limited in this area but there's street parking near the restaurant.

This place is an absolute GEM and I'm thrilled we were able to stop in during our trip to Nashville. I'm vegetarian so frequently I have to miss out on regional gustatory classics when I travel and tbh eating is the main reason I travel in the first place. I was thrilled to find out that not only is this establishment completely vegan, but they serve the local grub. We arrived as early as we could to avoid a lunch rush and we were the first table at around 10:15-10:30. You order via screen which is appreciated because it skips out on a lot of inevitable waiting time. Both GF and I ordered their spicy chik'n sandwich with potato buns (you can also elect to have a lettuce bun or omit a bun entirely). The screen ordering allows for precise inclusion/exclusion of certain ingredients in the sandwich which typically comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and a delicious sauce. In addition, you can choose a side. I was intrigued by the baked beans but ultimately settled on the green beans. GF chose the greens. We couldn't miss their Mac and cheez so we threw in an order of that as well. The food came out pretty quickly but not suspiciously quickly. The sandwich was spectacular and really packed the heat. I may just be a heat pussy because GF said she didn't think it was at hot as my dramatics would suggest. I wish I could eat this sandwich daily. The green beans were very soft and swimming in a flavorful broth. The Mac and cheez was literally some of the best m&c I have ever had in my life. We had the traditional mac at Hattie b's the day before and this was 10x better. I could live in a vat of that shit. When asked about GF's greens she says "they were good". Do they goldbelly? lmao

One of the best vegan establishments I've ever visited. All orders are taken at a virtual kiosk. As orders become ready, names are called and can also be viewed on an overhead monitor. Food was piping hot and very good. The environment was clean and inviting. Get restroom code from employees, if needed.

MY FOOD WAS EXCELLENT ! I just moved here from across the country and I was CRAVING some vegan soul food !! I am SO GLAD I found this place. The service was amazing. I got my food in about 15 minutes. The ambiance is casual and warm. I love it ! I definitely plan to come back soon

I tried them a couple of times and was just not pleased. I tried the bbq jackfruit sandwich with slaw as a side it was really good. The potato bun was soft and the jackfruit was tender and moist. The bbq sauce didn't taste like much but it was ok. The sandwich came with slaw . Overall everything was ok. I'll probably order the same thing if I return.

Had I stopped anywhere in the surrounding countryside during my drive from Kentucky to here, I would have struggled to find anything vegetarian other than perhaps a mediocre pizza, but upon arriving in Nashville, I had choices for niche vegan restaurants all over the place. Out of many, I chose this one as it seemed the most "authentic"; it seemed like the sort of southern-fried thing people come to Nashville to eat, except in a version that I could actually eat. I will note that they were not open for any kind of in-person dining when a lot of places are. Everyone makes their own risk calculations in this strange pandemic era and I don't begrudge them that or deduct any stars, but I rather wished I'd hit a rest stop on my three hour drive to get to the place as you can't even walk into the store and there are no tables or facilities of any sort nearby. I placed an order online which was promised in fifteen minutes and beat that by a minute or two. The sandwich I received was positively mouthwatering, with a patty that was billed as seitan (basically wheat gluten) but had some layers to it and a breaded, spiced, and most definitely fried exterior. The cool fixins were a perfect counterpart, and I wolfed that thing down as quickly as I could without burning my tongue. A side was included and I was full enough that I saved it for later. The baked beans were a southern barbecue style which again is appropriate to the style of food they're going for. A bit sweet for my taste but I didn't have any reluctance in eating them. The menu is more than just fried seitan though, and while this place is only open lunch hours, I think I may find an excuse to come back when I'm in the area.

Wow, I have nothing but good things to say about this place! From the friendly service, to the curbside pickup, to the amazing quality of the food-this place is awesome! I ordered the hot "chicken" sandwich with the turnip greens as my side item. The sandwich was definitely hot, but not too hot where you couldn't enjoy the flavor. I let my boyfriend have a bite and he thought it was delicious. I would've shared more, but it was too good to share! The greens was delicious, so I would recommend it as a great side dish. I also ordered a lemonade, which was very sweet and tart. I wouldn't need coffee in the morning to wake me up, that lemonade perked me up after the first sip! Thank you for the good hospitality and good meal Southern V!

The vegan comfort food here is so good! The staff are very attentive and helpful. It is cashless establishment so you must use the tablets to order or order online. The meal I had today was the meetloaf, green beans, potato casserole, and a fruit smoothie. I enjoyed all of it. Last time I I came, I had the hot chick'n sandwich (spicy!), Mac and cheeze, fruit smoothie, and a brownie. I enjoyed that meal too, however I didn't care for the Mac and cheeze (I'm lactose intolerant so I don't usually eat Mac & cheese in general) and dry brownie. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place for vegan southern food!

Absolutely phenomenal. I may be biased as I'm writing immediately after finishing my meal with a real case of the itis... I'm going get to the point-Delicious and as close as vegan can get to real soul food. I'm imagining what the greens recipe would taste like if cooked with a ham shank lol probably the best i'd ever had because the vegan version is so good. I didn't miss the traditional meat version at all. The sides I tried, baked beans, turnip greens and coleslaw were all tasty and seasoned to perfection. However, let's get to why you're reading this: The Nashville Hot Chicken is clucking ok lol, so good! I got the sauce on the side in case I didn't like it but after one bite, I smothered that seitan, so yummy and spicy! The coleslaw really helped with the heat. The flavor is incredible! I highly recommend if you're looking for the Nashville Hot Chicken experience without eating meat. The vibe is chill, good r&b/afrobeats music. Clean and intimate. Minimal yet friendly/helpful service. Great Brunch/Lunch spot. It's good they close early because, honey you need time to work that meal off before bed haha...

I am not a vegetarian let alone vegan but I would 100% eat here again. I got the Cliff burger with an impossible patty and it was delicious. The Mac & cheese was also very flavorful, parking was easy and the ambience was delightful, prices reasonable and just a great meal!

    Hot chicken sandwich
    Hema K.

I don't know what hot chicken is supposed to taste like, but this was a damn good sandwich! I understand why all of Yelp pointed me here for the best vegan classic Nashville food. Ordered the hot chicken sandwich with sides of collard greens, beans, and cornbread. The greens were good, the beans were forgettable, and the cornbread was too dry and crumbly. But the sandwich made up for all that and withstood a 20 min drive home without getting soggy or too soft. I thought it was perfect amount of heat -- a solid kick but not bringing me to tears. I ordered takeout as it was unclear from the website whether or not they were open for dine in. It turns out they were on that day - I recommend calling ahead to check if you're interested in dining in. Simple no-frills interior, seemed like most folks were taking out like me, but the option exists.

My group of 7 tried out The Southern V on a weekend trip to Nashville. We were celebrating our friend's bachelorette with a food tour and this was our first stop. 1. The service was great. Since we dined in, we were able to order directly from the table with QR codes and the food came out quickly. 2. The atmosphere was super cute. As a table of 7 we were able to find a spot quickly and they had many table size options available. The decor was super cute and we were very appreciative of the non-gendered restrooms. 3. The food was awesome. We have a mixed group of vegans and meat eaters. For some of us, it was an exciting adventure into vegan food. For the bride, who is vegan, she was so excited to have so many options that were all things she could eat. As a table, we ordered the fried chicken, nachos, burgers, and a few versions of the veggie plate. Overall, we loved the place and will be back if we are ever back in Nashville. It was the perfect stop to kick off our vegan food tour!

It's my last night in Nashville so I want to go to a bang zoom restaurant. A few of my co workers have said to me: Mr Bill, we see every night you're going out to some amazing spots. Mind if we tag along? Sure, the rules are to keep your fork outta my plate when we sit down. Deal? The restaurant is very large, we're shown to our table. Set in the middle of the dining room and facing the bar. The bar can seat at least 25 people, the restaurant is set up for fun. To get our party started, I ordered a well crafted cocktail: Tea'd Up Old Fashioned Made with Bourbon, Black Tea and House Barrel Aged Bitters. Funky?? Oh yeah I'm with a bunch of Military Veterans and they're telling me their crazy stories. I'm sippin' my Old Fashioned and taking it all in, we need to bond over drinks and crazy things we all drank overseas. As an adult, I can appreciate my Nashville TN Old Fashioned with Black Tea. While we're talking, our waitress drops off a plate of homemade biscuits. The biscuits are fire! Buttery, flakey and moist, The Southern Steak & Oyster can make a damn good biscuit. Next, my Gumbo comes to me. The first taste I can tell this is a chef'd up dish. Better than anything I had in New Orleans. This gumbo is filled with Andouille, Crawfish, Shrimp and Fried Okra. Very flavorful indeed. My last entree in Nashville will be Fish 'N Grits. Fresh fish topped with Spicy Tasso Ham over Sweet Potato Grits and Bacon Braised Cabbage. This is a flavorful dish, the grits are very creamy and the cook on the fish was spot on. We had a great night at The Southern Steak & Oyster, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry

This time, we switched things up and hit it for lunch instead. Good call. We grabbed seats at the bar, where Todd was holding down the fort. The guy was outstanding. Drinks never sat empty, food came out smoothly, and he somehow managed to be attentive without hovering over us every five minutes asking if everything was okay. My wife started with the Nashville Margue, which goes down way too easy for something packing moonshine. Light, refreshing, and carrying enough kick to remind you you're in Tennessee. Then Todd introduced us to a Bloody Mary made with a new pickle-infused vodka. Now, that sounds like one of those ideas that should either be amazing or a complete disaster. Turns out it's amazing. My wife loved it so much she's already talking about coming back tomorrow for another one. For food, we started with the pretzels and beer cheese. Simple. Warm. Soft. Salty. Exactly what you want while settling into a Nashville afternoon. Nothing fancy, just done right. Then I went all in on the mac and cheese topped with Nashville hot chicken. Yee Haw. Creamy mac and cheese. Crispy chicken. That signature Nashville heat. Comfort food with a little attitude. Just the way it should be. The best thing about The Stillery is that it knows exactly what it is. Good food. Good drinks. Good people. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just a fun place to sit down, relax, and enjoy yourself. At $14.50, they are at least $1.50 less than the standard Broadway cocktails in the star bars, so iti s a less expensive option to get a drink. The Arnold's put so much love and care into their place, you can't help but feel like one of them. I brought my mom, dad, aunt, and uncle here. My dad loves grouper and when I saw fried grouper on the menu I knew he had to try it. Only problem was they served it on Tuesday and he wouldn't get in until Thursday. Cut to my insane ass showing up and asking them if they could please serve it on that specific Thursday because my dad wanted to try it but he wouldn't get in on time and I wanted to make his trip special because I am truly a daddy's girl and he's my fav bestie right now. Yes I rambled all of that at them in one breath, I am a a talkative lil broad. They not only made my crazy special day fried grouper happen, but made a special point of dropping by the table to welcome my family to Nashville and extend well wishes on us. Okay so now that I've established that the Arnold's are such warm and loving people I can talk about the food. Oh my god the food. I got the roast beef, which is basically prime rib and can be drowned in au jus that I would drink straight from a cup, it's a divine nectar of the gods. We got almost every single side and loved every single side. I'm obsessed with fried green tomatoes so those were my star side, but my mother loved the greens and my dad loved the corn. Do not miss the bread pudding it is like a hug from your tastebuds to your brain. If you're like oh I don't like bread pudding I don't care shut up and order it it's that good it will convert you. I love you guys. I appreciate y'all so much. I'll see you soon I need more bread pudding. I was trying to be a skinny bitch to bamboozle a man to fall in love with me but unfortunately I'm about to have a bread pudding summer so that will not be happening and I am a okay with that because that bread pudding loves and treats me better more than any man ever could.

Such a classic comfort food spot with a super friendly server and an easy setup where you get in line, grab your food, then find a table. The fried fish was honestly the star. Perfectly crispy on the outside while still soft and flaky inside. So satisfying. The fried pork chop was a little dry for my taste, but all the sides were delicious and made up for it. The mac and cheese especially was sooo good. Overall, really comforting Southern food with a welcoming atmosphere and definitely worth trying if you want a more authentic Nashville experience.

Famous for not having a sign, finding it may be part of the adventure, but once you do, everything else is effortless. Parking is simple--just pull up and valet takes care of the rest. With a reservation, we walked right in with no wait. The most difficult part of the evening was deciding what to order because the menu offers so many tempting choices. I selected the Kvarøy Arctic Salmon, while my wife chose the Springer Mountain Farms All-Natural Chicken. Both dishes exceeded expectations. The salmon was cooked perfectly--crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. It rested on a bed of greens with a subtle lemon flavor that paired beautifully with the fish. The chicken was equally impressive--moist, tender, and packed with flavor. What stood out most was the incredible smoky aroma that hit before each bite, making it even more irresistible. For dessert, the Blackberry Lemon Bread Pudding was the perfect finish. Soft, warm, and bursting with flavor, it was a standout ending to an already exceptional meal. From the outstanding food to the attentive service, Urban Grub delivered a fantastic dining experience. Make a reservation, enjoy the meal, and see if you can find the place.

The small signage made it a little difficult to find inside the Marriott (see pictures), but from the moment we walked in, heard the live piano player and saw the dining area - we knew this would be a great experience. We started off by sharing orders of Lobster Bisque (see picture) and Burrata with Toast (see pictures). We really enjoyed both of them - the Lobster Bisque was so creamy and smooth and the Burrata was cool, fresh and clean. They were a great combination to start our dinner experience and I would recommend both of them. Since it was a Friday during lent, my wife opted for the BBQ Shrimp Pasta (see picture) and I went with the Daily Fish Special on Blue Corn Grits (see picture). As we always do when we go out, we shared our plates and really enjoyed both of them. The BBQ Shrimp Pasta was rich, buttery and smooth and the Fish Special was a tasty white, flaky and blackened fish served on a bed of rich, creamy blue corn grits. Here again, both are highly recommended. While it is one of your more expensive area stops for dinner, you will appreciate the food quality and presentation at Gannons Nashville for your next special occasion.
