Ok, it's my fault my dog is overweight. I blame my mother for raising me to equate love with food…read more I digress. Shadow has a bum leg and after many xrays, exams, mandated rest, etc, we went to BARC for a second opinion before we opted for surgery (Spoiler alert: he still needs surgery) We had 2 vets and an assistant evaluate Shadow. Range of motion, gait analysis, fancy equipment to determine how much pressure he was exerting on each paw when standing; it was a very comprehensive exam. After evaluating our pup, we ran though their diagnosis and recommendations. Our questions were answered, a plan of action was explained, and options given. Although the recommendation included surgery, we feel good about that choice. This will our pup's second surgery (we did the other leg two years ago). Everyone was so kind and patient. Shadow was treated liked the loved family member he is and not like a casual pet. My husband and I were held accountable for his weight loss and his care plan is complete. After the surgery, he will be back for rehab!

My pup, Zion, was unexpectedly hit by a car and had surgery performed on Nov. 1st. We were told by…read morehis orthopedic surgeon that he would need to have his left leg amputated due to nerve damage. He didn't walk or stand after the first 2-3 weeks of his surgery + only used his front hindlegs to help himself get around. However, after getting a second opinion, and being referred to BARC from his primary vet, our lives have truly changed. The doctors, PTs (Dr. Amy, Erin, Vlessyn), and the Rehab Assistants (Deja, David, Jessica to name a few!) have been so helpful in his therapy sessions. We've done acupuncture and physical therapy for the last 1.5 months and have already seen incredible improvement. Zion can now stand (in a neutral, fixated stance) and take small steps using his back hindlegs. Both of which we were told would be impossible from his surgeon! I'm looking forward to continue working with their team and helping Zion with his road to recovery :)

Founded over ten years ago and led by an amazing husband and wife team, Krystal and Phil Emery, the impact of this organization continues to grow and expand and is a blessing to both the clients and the participants. I have been part of PPT since 2014 and have trained two dogs through their extensive training program, which trains the owners and the animal, to successfully visit clients. I work with all ages of people, from very young children at the Children's Advocacy Center, high school students struggling with anxiety, depression, and stress, juvenile inmates at Eastlake Juvenile Hall, adults recovering from operations, strokes, and other ailments, and elderly who live in assisted living facilities. This is part of what makes this program so special - the impact these trained dogs and their owner have on all types of people and situations is boundless. The importance of our regularly scheduled visits is easy to quantify when the usually hour long visit is complete. Clients connect, smile, speak, share, laugh, pet and play with my dog, and feel a warmth, connection and compassion that they may not have felt at all that day, that week, or for a very long time. Additionally, I have experienced countless employees at assisted living facilities and staff at high schools, who cherish PPT visits and connect with the animals in much the same way as their clients. The mission of the Pet Prescription Team is actually quite simple, but the delivery is not. Professionally trained volunteers and pets, and a professionally managed program is what makes PPT stand above other animal therapy programs. I am often asked about my "service dog". Ulysses is not a service dog, I explain. He is a trained therapy dog, trained to work with You - the client I am visiting. The impact of PPT continues to grow and this relatively new therapy, utilizing the gifts our animals share with us, continues to expand to venues throughout Southern California.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff who made us feel welcome and at ease. The instructor, Laura, was knowledgeable and patient, taking the time to explain everything in detail and ensuring that my daughter feels comfortable before getting on the horse. The horses themselves were well-trained and gentle, making it easy for a beginner like my daughter to learn the basics of riding. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, with a spacious arena for practicing different exercises and techniques. Throughout the lessons in these past 6 months we have see the improvement and how she is gaining confidence with each ride. Laura provides helpful feedback and guidance, pushing Delilah to challenge herself and try new things. Overall, I highly recommend taking horseback riding lessons at this stable. I read a recent review left by someone claiming that the staff here are not kind or welcoming to minorities. This has never been the case for us as we are Mexican. So that statement is far from being true. I highly recommend this place to all who are looking to start horseback riding. My daughter is 14 and looks forward to her classes with Laura and her favorite horse, Skylar. Thank you so much! Best, Delilah's parents

This is a great riding center. Trainer Laura is amazing and she is so great with the students. She is patient and really teaches. All the school horses are are great and very well taken care of.. They teach/train all levels, from beginners to advanced. My daughter's riding has improved so much since starting here and she loves it. The pricing is very reasonable and I think you get so much more vs other riding schools/centers we've been too. All the staff is attentive and courteous. The barn area is always clean and organized. There are quite a few riding schools in the area and we checked them out. I am so happy we landed here. We love FFF!
