Once we made our way back the lady at the desk was rude and did not understand why someone may want a refund after that situation. it was a terrible version of what that experience should have been with not only the UTV breaking but how it was handled by the staff. Not only was it one UTV that was stranded but since there was a large group going so there were six other people with us. The behavior of the staff about the breaking and the family staying together was absolutely insane and should have happened.

About an hour into the ride my son heard a pop so we pull over to a siding in the mountains to see if we could check where the noise came from. After about 1/2 hour we discovered the rear drivers axel nut sheared off anf the tire was coming off. After trying to contact Smokey Rental which took some time they told my son they will bring a different UTV. It too an hour for them to get to us. We had plans after this ride so my son was offered a full refund and we were offer nothing. We asked for a 1/2 refund and was refused because the owner said we should have left my son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandkids stranded on the mountain and continued our ride (not going to happen). Then we were offered an extra hour even after we explained we had other plans. So after being stranded for 1 and 1/2 hours on a 3 hour ride the non-caring owner trough in our face the contract for no early returns when we actually got back on time. The early return was because of the extra hour offered at the breakdown site. Not a good business practice, we will never recommend Smokey Mountain Rental with the experience and the way we were treated by the owner.

Finally, we begin the ride, nothing about this "adventure" was fun, we went so slow on the quads that I rather just hiked the damn thing. They don't allow any type of riding unless you're up the guides ass going 10mph. All of the guides were not outgoing and all had very serious attitudes which killed our groups vibe. Then during the ride me and the boys decided to get cheeky and we started drifting on turns (nothing crazy) and the big girl starts freaking out and yelling at the top of her lungs. Very unprofessional OVERALL: This place is a scam. It's not an adventure and all the workers act like their shit don't stink. Highly Do not recommend unless you wanna have a bad experience. How they can reflect: You guys have such an amazing opportunity to showcase the beautiful woods of Tennessee, so why would you spend it being stuck up and strict? Life is meant about making memories with people close to you and this is something that people would come back to forever if they just chilled out a little bit and let the customers just ride! We rented an off-road vehicle from Offroad Gatlinburg yesterday expecting an actual off-road…read moreexperience. Based on their advertising, website, and what we were told when booking, we believed we'd be taking the vehicle onto mountain trails and participating in genuine off-roading. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When we arrived, the employee at the front desk immediately informed us that we needed proof of auto insurance and a credit card. While that's completely understandable, none of this was communicated to us beforehand, so we had to spend time digging through our phones and paperwork to find the information. When I explained that this requirement was not included in the information we received, he argued with me rather than simply acknowledging the oversight. Throughout the entire interaction, he acted as though we were inconveniencing him. The biggest disappointment came when we asked about the trails. We were told that we could not actually take the vehicle off-road and had to remain on public roads unless we paid extra for a guided tour. This was completely different from what we understood when booking. As locals, we drive these mountain roads regularly and can enjoy those views anytime in our own vehicle. The whole reason we rented an "off-road" vehicle was to experience off-roading. Once the employee learned that we weren't tourists, his attitude became even worse. He seemed annoyed that we were asking questions. The drive itself was beautiful because the Smoky Mountains are beautiful, but there was nothing about the experience that justified renting a specialty off-road vehicle. We could have seen the exact same sights from our personal car. To make matters worse, when we returned the vehicle and asked if there was anything else we needed to do before leaving, we were then told that we were responsible for refilling the gas tank. Again, this had never been mentioned beforehand. In fact, we were told when booking that gas was included in the rental cost. Overall, the vehicle was fine and the scenery was great, but the communication, professionalism, and customer service were extremely disappointing. If you're looking for a true off-road experience, make sure you fully understand what is and isn't included before booking. Based on our experience, I would recommend looking into other companies first.

Before our reservation, we called to ask about the security deposit and were told it would be $500 total for all three jet skis. When we arrived, we were told it was actually $500 per jet ski, meaning we had to come up with a $1,500 deposit. That should have been explained correctly over the phone. The pricing also felt misleading. We paid about $190 for the jet ski rentals, but by the time all the taxes and fees were added, it was around $100 more. Then, after the ride, we were charged $126 for gas. They claimed we used 8, 6, and 5 gallons between the three jet skis, even though the fuel gauges had only dropped about 2-3 notches. The gas charges seemed extremely high. Another frustrating part was the rental time. Our reservation was for 2:00 PM, but we didn't actually get on the water until around 2:40 PM because we had to wait through a safety video, paperwork, life jackets, and other delays. Despite that, we were still required to return the jet skis by 4:00 PM. If your rental starts at 2:00, you should actually be on the water close to that time--not lose 40 minutes to the check-in process. There were also a lot of large logs floating in the water, which made riding less enjoyable and required constantly watching out for obstacles. On top of that, some of the additional fees were excessive, including a $100 assistance fee if staff has to come help you on the water. Finally, while waiting for our jet skis to be inspected after returning, we overheard two employees talking about one of the rental boats. One said, "I think that's the one that's been having problems," and the other responded, "I think it needs a new propeller," while laughing. Whether they were joking or not, it wasn't something customers should hear before another family takes that boat out. It gave a very unprofessional impression. Overall, the jet skis were fun, but the inaccurate information about the deposit, excessive fees, expensive gas charges, lost rental time, and unprofessional behavior left a bad impression. I wouldn't rent here again unless these issues were addressed.

When I come to visit the beautiful mountains of Gatlinburg I always rent a side by side from Gatlinburg Adventures. Very nice customer staff, very polite, honest. The side by sides consist of Polaris, Can-am and if your not feeling a side by side they do also have the electric bikes for the bikers to choose from. Also they are very reasonable in cost for the average time frame your wanting to rent the side by sides and electric bikes. What do I pick I always pick the Polaris RZR or the Can-am Mavrick Turbo all depends what they have avaiable in that time frame when I'm wanting to rent the side by side. Also don't forget to get a map of Gatlinburg so you know where you can ride and not ride at. Enjoy!

Bikes are comfortable, communication helmets are so cool, battery lasted. One of the funnest things I've done in Tennessee! And we saw bears! It's a great way to see the mountains and the countryside and it's just plain fun! Sue took great care of us and when we took a pit stop for some food she hooked us up with fresh batteries. Not sure if a lot of places have them but Scotty Bike helmets have a built in walkie-talkie system so you can chatter on the ride. Lots of fun banter exchanged as we rode. The weather here is crazy so when you get some sun grab a few bikes!
