Well, I always give a place a second chance.... so I went back with a group of 4 on Saturday evening. We went up to the bar to order drinks... The 20-something bartender ignored us initially, then wanted ID from all of us 45 and older folks... My wife had not brought it with her for our day of hiking. I understand being safe, but if I appear under 21 the bartender needs an eye exam. The entire restaurant stunk of fish... not just a pleasant smell of cooking dinner, but that of a ocean side dock, where they gut fish and don't clean up. On top of that another guest was asked for ID, slammed his hand on the counter, then walked out with a staff member. appearing to have had too much. not sure the whole story but it startled others in our party. So after 2 tries, 6 months apart, I can safely say I won't be back and encourage others to look elsewhere as well. read more

My friend wanted to try out this place, so we came for lunch. The seats are pretty uncomfortable they are wood seats and the inside was super cold, we asked the waitress if they could turn off the ac and she said the managers wasnt there and that she had to send him a message and see if it was ok....really? I ordered the cob salad wrap and my friend got the fish and chips. It took a while to get our food and we were the only ones there. For the most part my wrap was pretty good, the only thing that ruined it was the bacon was way way WAY to salty , even with all that lettuce it was still to salty. My friend loved the fish but didn't care for the fries, and I agree they were overly salty and they put garlic powder on them, so if you dont like garlic make sure you let them know not to add it. read more

This brew pub if you will came recommended from some co-workers, and I finally got a chance to stop by. Upon walking through the door, I was really digging the decor of the building. It's a modern feel with a little bit of a mid evil vibe going on. I was greeted by a gentleman who seated me and said my server would be right behind him, and she was. She brought water and I ordered the chicken strips with garlic Parmesan fries, this was the last time I saw her. Another server brought my food out, which happens often at restaurants but this place was not remotely busy. I still had no problems, except she never came back so when I ran out of ranch I couldn't ask for more, or when my water was empty half way through my meal I couldn't ask for more. As I write this review I have been finished eating for right around 12 minutes and still have not received my check, and no one has come over. The service provided today has been extremely disappointing to say the least. As for the food, the chicken strips were meh. I wasn't expecting anything over the top, and I actually got what I think I was expecting just chicken strips. The garlic Parmesan fries were delicious and the cole slaw was not good, but take that with a grain of salt because I don't care for it much anyway. The two complaints I have are the horrendous service and I feel like the prices are a little high for what you get. I might come back during happy hour to give it another go. I'm now up to 17 minutes... still no check. read more

Maybe 4.5 stars. Maybe even 5, but I don't give those out very often. PROS First of all really great beer. A flight of 4 Ridgewalker beers netted 4 very nice varieties. A+ for that. Food was excellent and inventive. Service was super-friendly and the prices reasonable. Bathroom was clean and so was the rest of the place. CONS About 24 taps (?) And only 4 we're Ridgewalker. I wanted to sample more of their own creations but was limited to just these 4. No biggy. Bartender although wuite friendly and eager to help gave me a vibe that he himself might not be real familiar with the beers. Maybe he's not a beer guy? Again, no biggy They had a few games for the using while having beers, but not enough or a variety that suits enough different clientele. Bonus pros: 1. Kudos for the decision to put sound-deadening material on the ceilings. Too many places are really loud and although there were quite a few patrons when I visited, there wasn't so much noise as to make conversation across the big live-edge tables impossible. 2. A great variety of bottle hot sauce to adorn the food. Yum this is too rare a thing and should be mentioned. Although we only used a handful of drops, I can't report enough how much this added to our experience. 3. Artwork on the walls was fun. read more

Ridgewalker has the potential to be something incredible but they're not quite there yet. My review is solely based on food, environment, and business practices. I did not have the opportunity to taste any of their adult beverage selections. The environment is fantastic. They've done a great job converting what appears to be a historic or at least really old building into a classy NW hipster brewpub and grill that could hold its own against any of the small hipster brewpubs in Portland, and I'd even be comfortable saying that they'd be competitive in Portland's Pearl District or other high priced neighborhoods. My only suggestion for the environment would be to make the "Order at the Bar" signs more obvious or even post something obvious right inside the entrance when you first walk in. The current signs sort of get lost among the menus and other signage behind the bar. Needless to say, as an out of town visitor unfamiliar with this practice, I walked in, found a seat, and waited for 5-10 minutes while wondering why the staff were ignoring me. It was only after sitting and feeling like something wasn't right that I went up to the bar and asked for help. Fortunately, the guy working was happy to explain how things operated. I ordered the chicken strips and a ginger ale. When they arrived at my table I was shocked and frustrated by the small portion size of chicken strips - 2 small/medium strips. The mountain of sweet potato fries they were piled on top of felt like an insult as if they were consciously giving customers a small portion size of meat and hoping that a large amount of fries would some how make everything okay. The chicken strips themselves tasted good, although, the beer batter looks more like a marinade rather than even a light batter. Paying $8 for chicken strips plopped on top of a half-plate or more of fries doesn't sit well with me. I expect more for my money. At least make me feel better about the high prices and small portions by advertising or more-clearly advertising that the meat is sourced locally from responsible farmers and all that Jazz, and put a little more effort into the presentation. Additionally, the dipping sauces tasted like Sysco Food or Food Service of America quality sauces dressed up with a little seasoning. Another frustrating aspect of the experience was service. I appreciate when waitstaff doesn't spend too much time bothering us but I also don't like being ignored and this experience felt closer to be ignored. Most comparable establishments would have provided around 30% more meat, better service, and put a little more effort into the marketing and presentation of the meals for the same price. read more

Ridgewalker is a wonderful spot in the heart of Forest Grove. You walk in to a seat yourself bar, with booths on either end and a long table in the middle. Both front windows have couches if the tables are full, or if that's your preference. There is a pile of board games to keep you entertained and even a working arcade machine. The walls are lined with TVs that, when we went in, we're playing college football. No volume. What I liked about this setup is that it was easy to watch a game if you wanted, but they were placed in a way that wouldn't drag your attention away from your table if you didn't want to watch. Darn commercials!! Menus on the table have a good variety and vegetarian options are clearly labeled. There is nothing marked vegan. But, ordering the taco salad with the bean burger and no cheesy stuff can cover you. The Brussel sprouts are really good. Just pass on the aioli. They have a long and varied beer list. Whatever style of beer you're looking for, you will likely find it up there. Granted I'm talking about more common styles, no rauchbiers. My tastebuds are thankful for that. They even have kombucha and wine on tap for your non-beer loving friends. This is the perfect place to replenish the calories your burn off on the Banks-Vernonia trail. At least that's what we did. I'm updating my review after Jeff, the owner, contacted me about my first review. I try very hard not to use strong words on reviews that are not called for. When I gave my 2 star review, it was warnatted and I hope that they truly look at changes. This place could be a star in the area and with a little heart, it could be a place that people return to for years to come. I felt bad about leaving a zero tip. The food quality was lack luster, the service was worse then Macdonald's, but the atmosphere was nice. Although restaurant gave refund and apologized, my concern is the kitchen. I know this spot was a good time when the first thing they offered was samples of their beers and ciders. I loved their Sun of a Peach cider that is similar to a sweet childhood juice with still a good amount of alcohol to get you ordering another. The Cajun fries were really good with ranch on the side. There is not a happy hour but they do offer 10% student and faculty discount for Pacific University attendees. Overall would recommend this spot in forest grove for a good time to chat with friends or a date night. read more

The beer is excellent - lots of variety and always tasty. The food is mediocre at best. On this most recent visit, my friend and I had the two tacos - pork for her, chicken for me. It took almost an hour for her food to come out (we sat down at 1;00 on a Sunday afternoon) and they were cold. Mine came 5 minutes later and were hot, but mostly flavorless. The chicken was well cooked though. On previous visits I've tried the ceasar salad, the chicken wings and the burgers, again, mediocre. Sometimes the regular fries are awesome, usually they are cold and soggy. It's like nobody with tastebuds works there. This is a super fun place with great beer. There was no hostesses so we sat down at a table and then realized that you order food and drinks at the bar. So let me break the visit down by three categories. Great: The entire staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the numerous beers on tap. The cheesecake was amazing! The beers Good: The hand dipped corn dog was a must have. The burnt brisket sandwich was smiley moist and delicious. With a sweet savory taste, but no heat. Bad: The fried Mac &a Cheese, and appetizer garlic Parmesan fries were inedible. And unfortunately, they allow children- and people like to bring their children. Beers were great and they have a huge amount of taps including a ton of ciders and at least one house brewed kombucha, which was delicious! I stuck with mostly IPAs like usual and was happy with everything of theirs I ordered. We ordered a round of food and there was a hiccup that just happens, and the manager took care of making it right (thank you!). We're super happy we checked this place out, everyone was incredibly kind, the inside was comfy and COVID safe, and we didn't sit on the patio but it was well spaced and really nice. First visit to Ridgewalker Brewing in Forest Grove. They did a nice job with the interior..very comfortable. Nice selection of beer, wiine and kombucha on tap. For being a relative newcomer ( only open 6 or 7 weeks) they are doing well. Typically you might expect a few bumps when a business first gets their feet under them. Minor delay for second order and totally appropriate staff response. We enjoyed the food, beer and environment. Hubby had the "too hot " smoked chicken wings. He ate all 6..and is a picky wing fan. It isn't out of the norm for him to try but not eat 6 wings unless he knows the place (and he tries them *everyplace * we go) I had the single fried Mac n cheese ball. Very nice.. generous portion for the price of $2.45. Quite filling. We shared garlic parmesean fries. Forgot to take a picture but they were delicious. Nice additoon to the FG. Wow! So as a non beer lover living in Oregon, I still end up at a lot of tap houses, pubs, and so on. Today, we wandered out to Forest Grove and stopped in the brand new Ridgewalker Brewing tap house. First thing I took note of is the "minors allowed" sign on the door. This means, on a summer day, the whole family can come and enjoy good BBQ and snacks (talking non frozen chicken wings...which is huge in my book. Simple but huge.) and even some non beer on tap! You heard me. I know I know, most places have wine, and these guys do too (2 red and 2 white) and of course a couple of ciders BUT ....ready for this? Sit down. Hold onto your butt....they have kombucha on tap. I am drinking the lovely mango passion fruit right now and I might die from its deliciousness. Like, I. Can't. Even. Bonus? This place is gorgeous. Reclaimed wood tables that they sanded and finished themselves. Mmmmm. Wood. A giant communal table ....I have said amazing patio already, right? All enclosed in like, what looks like an old temple or something. It just has that vibe. I actually don't know what it used to be. So let's review. Yummy food. Non beer options on tap. Gorgeous tables and patio. Friendly staff. Good vibe all around. While I am moving to Happy Valley from Hillsboro soon, I can tell you, I will be back here for sure. My husband and I went to Ridgewalker Brewing last week after we kayaked at Hagg Lake. We were walking around the town and found it by accident. They had one table left outside that was a barrel with some stools. I am not a fan of dinning with tall stools but I do appreciate their addition of these tables in efforts to social distance their customers. We are not comfortable dinning inside right meow so this was a suitable and appreciated option for us. We ordered beer at the counter and food. They have a decent amount of fare but if you are a vegetarian not a whole a whole lot. My husband got a burger and salad. He really liked his burger and the salad with balsamic was tasty, I kept eating it! I got the nachos with the pulled pork on the side. My husband enjoyed the pulled pork as a side to take home and I liked my nachos but without the pulled pork they were kinda sad. They tasted good but they needed avocado/blackbeans some more umph. In all fairness I could have asked for these but did not (but I don't think they had them). The beers were tasty and there was so many choices. What really shines here besides all the other goodies is the service. The employees were attentive and kind. I highly recommend this place if you are in town! read more

The service here was very lacking. We walked in at 6pm on a Tuesday night. There were maybe 10 people seated, most with their food and drinks. It took over an hour to get our food, and there were just two of us. The horrible service alone makes us never want to eat here again. Nobody came to tell us there was a long wait or sorry for the wait, etc. Not sure if they were short staffed, but there was zero communication from anyone who worked here. Very upset that we had to wait over an hr for mac and cheese and chicken strips. The food was pretty good, but definitely not worth the wait. read more

Historic bldg made into a trendy little pub & grill that has FANTASTIC food. When you walk I , you go straight to the bar to order, then find a seat & they bring your food to you. I had the Cubano- which they were happy to make dairy & gluten free for me. Had curly fries with the sandwich, which were also pretty good. They have a huge, long table down the center of the room to eat family style, but also booths on the sides, if you want to sit on your own. Only down side to this gem is that if it's busy, it's tricky to find someone to bring you condiments or take home containers, as there are no servers that come & check in on you. Following the new trend with taphouses, you're left to guess what to do when you walk in the door. After we figured out we needed to order food and drinks at the bar, and then found a table, we saw several other groups walk in and clumsily reach the same conclusion we reached. The place would benefit from smaller table options for singles or couples, as you only have a choice between tables against that wall that could fit eight, or a long common table running the length of the hall. The table tops are also interesting. They are beautiful slabs of wood with uneven edges, but the edges are so uneven that in one place the table could be almost touching you as you sit against the back of your bench, and in other places you'll have to sit on the edge of your bench just to reach it. The beer selection was above average, but there was very limited seating at the bar if that's all you plan on having. The food was okay. The meat on our salads (tri-tip and BBQ chicken) was fantastic, but the salad itself was mostly chopped romaine hearts. Nothing offered will draw us back. read more
