They don't know how to make progressive eyeglasses. You have to lift up your eyeglasses to read…read moresomething because the clearest part for reading is at the bottom rim. Same thing happened with my friend's who unluckily bought 2 pairs of eyeglasses thinking this optical clinic knows how to make them. Such a waste of time and money. BEWARE!

FAIR WARNING...This is going to be long, but please read…read more After a visit for glasses and contacts, I ended up getting a notice from my health insurance that I "owed" money to Woodside Optical. I knew there had to be a mistake because I paid $400 out of pocket for glasses, contact lens fittings, etc. There was no possible way I could owe them any money. So I called Anthem Blue Cross, turns out that across 4 line items, Roman over charged me on one service, and then under charged me on another. And after all the mistakes he made, I was owed money, not the other way around. I eventually go in to get my money back, and he's not there. So I chat with a nice lady at the front and she tells me that Roman had written down $41 refund under my account, and again I knew the numbers were wrong. My insurance company told me I was owed $42. It wasn't her problem and she was clueless of the context so I left and called the insurance company again. They confirmed that I was owed $42 to which then I asked them to call the shop and tell them exactly the number I'm owed. I finally make my way back again to speak with Roman to get my refund, and he pulls up my account and he tells me $41.00. I responded "$42.00". He rolls his eyes and scoffs "Whatever". Yeah, you read that right. I don't know who needs to hear this, but "WHATEVER" is not how you handle peoples money or business, PERIOD. I don't care if it's a dollar, or 5 cents, money is money. God knows how many people he could have pulled this on or how much money has slipped through the cracks. It's truly unfortunate that he is handling the operations of this shop because the doctor seemed lovely and competent. My bigger worry is that there are a lot of immigrant families in this community that probably don't know better and blindly trust this man at his word, as you should! Because why would he be wrong about the numbers or worse, lie to you? The answer is that he is either scamming everyone, or is lazy and incompetent resulting in YOU losing money. Be careful and make sure you're not being blindly ripped off. EDIT- Looking at other reviews, it appears that he has done this to other customers. Clearly this isn't a mistake that happened once or twice but a pattern.

I visited Fresh Pond Eye Care to be examined for glasses and I came away stunned because of the…read moresubstandard service I received. It was 2-3 years ago during a Summer, the good doctor dressed in biker short tights that had a checkerboard pattern hovered over my face which a handheld device like a pistol grip at first circling with it in front of my face and than holding it 2" from my eyes declared that the pressure in my eyes was fine. My eye was not diluted, he used a flimsy collection of lenses to quickly measure for lenses. When the glasses came in one of the lenses was so off its not even funny and he blamed it on the lab. To get the correct measurement he took only two passes at my eye not calibrating back and forth carefully but the reordered one was good. The staff, at least at that time, was very unhappy and stiff. I am older and have been examined by numerous of eyecare professionals in the last 30 years but this experience was totally out of range. There are dozens of eyecare places in Ridgewood, stay away from this. Lately I have visited Clarity Eyecare on Myrtle Avenue and was treated professionally.
