As an LA local, I'm always skeptical about tacos here in the Big Apple. But I can say without a doubt these were incredible. It's unfathomable to me how empty this place was. I feel lucky to have gotten in on this secret before anyone else, but for the sake of the incredible people working here and incredible food they serve, as well as the beautiful outdoor seating, here you go. This place rules.

I moved from Los Angeles, so I'm skeptical about some of the Mexican food in NY. I was pleasantly surprised with Ridgewood Taco Factory! The lunch specials are affordable, I got the Torta and my girl got the Enchilada with green sauce. My Torta was huge, fresh and delicious. It was easy to eat and didn't make a mess either, very well crafted! My girlfriend loved the Enchilada as well. Thank you Ridgewood Taco Factory!

This was my second time dining here, and I thoroughly enjoyed it once again…read more After enjoying a delicious meal paired with a fantastic all-jazz performance, I'm already looking forward to coming back. I ordered the short ribs and the five-onion soup again, and both were excellent. The service was spot-on and impressively quick--my food arrived in under 15 minutes. The owner is also really cool; he personally greets guests and makes a point of chatting with the performers to ensure they're comfortable. This is a wonderfully romantic spot. The beautiful flowers add such a nice touch (as I mentioned in my previous review). While it's not fully upscale, it has an elevated, sophisticated vibe that makes you want to dress up for the occasion. Highly recommended!

Well, at least business was "Blooming" due to Mother's Day reservations…read more All jokes aside, I visited this restaurant yesterday for a Mother's Day brunch with a group of eight others. Our reservation had been confirmed the day before by both our host and the restaurant. When I arrived early, I was surprised to find the place jam-packed and clearly overcrowded. The front-of-house staff, along with the presumed owner, seemed overwhelmed and initially could not locate our 12:00 reservation. There were also guests with 11:30 and later reservations that were still waiting to be seated, along with several other groups scheduled around our time. After waiting nearly 50 minutes, talking with others who were also waiting, and watching two other tables be hastily set up and filled, we were finally seated. The table had been quickly wiped down and set with placemats, but it was missing silverware and several glasses. Most of this was resolved fairly quickly, though two people still never received glasses, with one person asking a few times for one. Our clearly overworked waitress brought us water and eventually took our order after a shorter additional wait. I ordered a $6 cappuccino, which was enjoyable, with a moderate amount of foam and a pleasantly bitter flavor without tasting over-roasted. However, another person's $4.50 iced coffee did not seem worth the price, as it appeared to be no more than a 12-ounce glass and was mostly filled with ice. Outside of coffee, the staff was understandably slow with water, with long waits, and we finally got a pitcher near the end of the meal. For my meal, I chose the $16 Poached Browns, which included two poached eggs, pulled pork, an English muffin, hollandaise sauce, and their Bloom hash. Many minutes later, and I mean many, the eggs were properly poached and were the highlight of the dish. The pulled pork, served without any additional sauce, was dry, and the small amount of hollandaise did little to help. The hash on the side lacked crispiness and vegetables, aside from what might have been a tiny piece of chopped yellow pepper. Overall, it was below average but passable. Two others ordered the Make Your Own Omelette for $19, which comes with a choice of three ingredients, the same hash, and bacon. They made two specific requests, both of which our waitress confirmed: first, that they did not want bacon, and second, that they could substitute fries for the hash--regular fries for one person and sweet potato fries for the other. Despite this, both plates arrived with bacon, as you can see in my first photo, where one of them transferred her bacon to my plate. The other person sent her plate back and ended up receiving her Mother's Day meal well after everyone else. The omelette also looked a bit more like a frittata, which I didn't mind. After waiting a while, including finally getting pitchers of water, we finally left after a long and annoying bunch. If this spot indeed had reservation issues, why on earth were they still allowing walk-ins? Why did they tell people it would take 15-20 minutes to seat when it would clearly take 30+? This entire experience was inept from beginning to end. The food this time is closer to a 2, but our experience as a whole was closer to a 1. I would never go back.

We ordered: - Mohinga (Burmese Fish Noodle Soup) (#11): good flavors, especially with all the toppings. I liked that the soup was separate, so that the noodles and toppings doesn't get soggy. - Fried Beef with Spicy (#22): mostly nicely fried, though some pieces were a bit dry because it is small cuts. Well seasoned, especially the crunch, so definitely eat with rice. Nice kick, but not too spicy, unless you're eating the chili. - Nga-ku Sin Kaw Curry (FIsh) (#23): tenderly cooked fresh fish. It goes well flavor-wise with the curry. The crunch and the vegetables add more texture, though I would have liked some curry on the vegetables. - Pa Zun Chin Thoke (sour shrimp salad) (#31 - Spicy) : good sour and spicy (hits you at the end!) flavor. It's not whole shrimps, it's cubed shrimp paste, which leads to an interesting texture. - Latphat Thoke (tea leaf salad) (#37): can really taste the fermented-ness of the tea leaves. There is a great mix of texture, especially the crunch! I did avoid the raw garlic. - A Kyaw Sone (fried vegetables) (#39 - Small): I enjoyed the spicy tamarind chili dipping sauce. The veggies were fresh (spinach, zucchini, turnip?) and the breading was crispy on the outside. This was suggested by the waitress and I'm glad we ordered it. - Grilled Pork Neck with Papaya Salad (#43 - Large): tender and flavorful pork. I love the herby green sauce to go with the pork. The Papaya Salad was fresh and crisp. The addition of the sweet sticky rices were a great touch. Overall a nice spot to check out for Burmese food. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area. They have a Non-Burmese (mostly Chinese) portion of the menu as well (labeled as "Group B" on the menu).

We are lucky to have many outstanding Asian spots, and the Burmese flavors at Asian Bowl really stand out. The dishes I've ordered are also on the healthier side, with plenty of vegetables and nothing fried. I usually stick with the Burmese menu but ordered the beef low mein for my husband last time and it was excellent as well. Many menu items are labeled "spicy" and while they are very flavorful I haven't come across any that I would describe as spicy or hot. Delivery is fast to the section of Forest Hills furthest from the restaurant, which is always a plus!

What a neighborhood GEM!! Kuku Korean was fantastic! Fresh, tasty food at reasonable prices!…read more We (6 of us) were in the neighborhood for a Valentine's Day celebration and searched Yelp for a good ethnic restaurant in the area. We came across Kuku Korean and said YESSS, this is the place to go! The only wrench in our plans was that Kuku Korean doesn't take reservations; not even on Valentine's Day! They warned us that they expected to be very busy that evening, and to expect a wait. Ok, we made plans to go, but also made a Resy with another restaurant close by, as a backup plan in case there was a long wait for a table. But really, Kuku Korean was our preferred first choice. After our V Day event, we rushed over to Kuku Korean to see what the wait time was for a table for 6. It was just after 6pm, and the stars were aligned for us, because we got the last large table available! Woo Hoooo! Happy Valentine's Day to us!! We quickly cancelled our Resy with the other restaurant (sorry!) and perused Kuku Korean's fabulous menu. Our MENU (shared by 6ppl): ~ Seafood Pajeon ($24/large): Crispy battered pancake made with green onions & seafood (mussels, clams, squid, and shrimp). This was phenomenal! So much seafood and such a comforting dish...get this! ~ Veg Japche ($21): Stir-fried Korean vermicelli with Kuku soy-garlic Japchae sauce and assorted veggies. This dish was also available with various proteins but we opted for Veg since we were ordering other meat dishes. This dish was so flavorful and delicious. ~ Kuku Bibimbap ($24): Seasoned vegetables over rice, topped with a fried egg. Served with Kuku spicy bibim sauce. Again, you have the option of adding protein to this dish but we kept it veg. Another great dish! ~ Pork Galbi ($28): Char-grilled Pork ribs marinated in Kuku sauce, served with sauteed onions. Served with kimachi, daily banchan & purple rice. The pork was cut in thick slices, which was surprising, but wow, this was phenomenal! So tasty and lean, and just delicious. ~ Beef Bulgogi ($33): Sauteed thinly sliced beef rib-eye marinated in Kuku sauce with mushroom, Served with kimachi, daily banchan & purple rice. Another phenomenal dish. Bursting with flavor. -- Spicy Squid ($28): Stir-fried squid in spicy Kuku gochujang sauce, onions, hot pepper and carrot. Served with kimachi, daily banchan & purple rice. This squid was prepared perfectly; not over cooked nor rubbery! Great dish. - Ban Chan: generous unlimited servings; fresh & delicious. These 6 dishes, plus Ban Chan was perfect for 6 ppl to share. We finished everything and were fully satisfied. Every single dish was delicious and we ALL said we wanted to return to Kuku Korean to repeat some dishes and try new dishes. Customer service and atmosphere were great. The busser staff did an amazing job and were even more attentive than our server (who we only saw twice)...kudos to the bussers! They were so hard working, with a smiling, friendly attitude! Give them a raise! Looking forward to a return visit to Kuku Korean...hopefully SOON!!

They definitely piled the veggies on, which I appreciated. However, the beef patty was not great texturally. There seemed to be an issue with consistency, three of us ordered the same burger cooked medium rare but our burgers were cooked with different levels of doneness. One was perfectly medium rare, one was very rare, and mine was in between with some parts that were rare. The rare parts felt (and looked) too much like raw ground beef, tasted mushy. It wasn't a big deal though because it was still edible. If I come back here, I would probably just order medium to be on the safe side. What actually ruined the patty for me was the chewy, rubbery gristle. The other burgers didn't have as much but mine had gristle in nearly every bite. Thankfully, the brioche bun and veggies kind of made up for the meat. The onion rings were really fried and super crunchy; they almost looked burnt. It was a little too fried for me but I still enjoyed it. The spicy barbecue sauce was really good and had a tiny kick. I preferred the spicy barbecue sauce to the garlic aioli. The aioli was too thick so I liked combining the two sauces. The fries were basic chain restaurant fries, crispy and fluffy. I would be happy with ordering either fries or onion rings again. However, I think the onions rings made the burger more enjoyable. Pretty big place with lots of seating. Quick and friendly service.
