UThai is the quintessential Thai takeout spot. There's not much of a restaurant to speak of; the establishment consists of a kitchen and a counter, with hardly enough space to fit two people once you're in the door. Everything UThai does is perfectly fine. Not much to rave about, but not much to complain about either. The fried rices are all exactly what you're looking for on a night when you don't want to cook. The drunken noodles are spicy and rich, if not excessively greasy at times, and the pad thai is, well, very solid pad thai. The crab rangoon is a bit of a disappointment, lacking the crisp you'd like it to have, but other appetizers are a nice complement to your meal. As far as neighborhood takeout operations go, UThai is at the very least one of the best on the block, and for that they definitely deserve their flowers. read more

The new Peanut Curry with broccoli, green beans, and carrots with chopped peanuts on top in a delightful peanut coconut milk curry is too notch. Out of any restaurant that serves Crab Rangoon, theirs is by far the very best with actual crab and not just cream cheese. The wonton is soft and flavorful inside and the outside incredibly crispy. The Salmon Mango salad with cashews, avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers, mango, lettuce and topped with a dressing with the perfect juxtaposition of sweet and acidic sourness but in the most perfect amount. This is a mostly takeout Thai place but my friend and I chose to dine in. Note it is tiny inside and only 2 small tables, both of which are tucked to the side, sandwiched between the entrance and the counter. It is also cash only which is a bit inconvenient (although they take Venmo too). Service was ok considering only one person was working the counter and they had to take orders, answer the phone, tend to the delivery people, and serve us our food. We got spring rolls, papaya salad, shrimp green curry, and veggie pad thai to share. Food was hit or miss to me. For example, the papaya salad was heavy on the fish sauce and verged on soggy. Green curry and pad thai were both decent though. They could do with a bigger rice portion with the curry but that is typical with most Thai places. Spring rolls had a nice crisp. I stopped by here for lunch. It's a small establishment, probably was a takeout only place even before the pandemic. But not to bad. Very lackluster service, as if I were inconveniencing them. I ordered the curry puffs and shrimp pineapple fried rice. The curry puffs were good with the cucumber sauce. The shrimp pineapple fried rice was okay, very bland. I ordered fried calamari, thai wings and fried chives for appetizers, and pad thai, drunken noodles and pad see ew as the entrees. I have to say, overall I was very disappointed in the food, despite looking at the overall review of the restaurant. The fried calamari tasted like it was from a pre-made frozen bag. The breading on the squid was falling apart and the squid had a rubbery texture, difficult to chew. The thai wings didn't have anything special, tasted like a regular fried chicken with no unique seasoning or texture to it.  I've definitely tasted better "Thai wings." As for fried chives, it was basically a deep-fried chive dumpling with a mochi/glutinous consistency. The dipping sauce with the chive was my favorite thing from everything I ate. The drunken noodles, pad thai, and pad see ew did not have anything special. The meat and tofu were just bland and the noodles had lots of grease pooling on the bottom of the container. The lunch special came with spring rolls (very thick skin), or vegetable soup.  Overall, I was not pleased with my order. I struggled to finish my food. The first time I tried their food, it was either bland or overly salty. This time I tried their drunken noodles, it was spicy and seasoned nicely. The Tom yum soup wasn't spicy or sour at all, so it didn't have the typical flavors one would expect but it still tasted pretty good. I'm actually not a fan of Tom yum. The order itself was cheap because there was no delivery fee and I got 25% off using the Grubhub app, but my order came late and the delivery person was rude. He didn't ring or knock on my door but called my cell and when I got to the door he angrily gave me my food and (pretty sure) cursed under his breath. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken. Took about ten minutes for the restaurant to prepare my order. When I arrived at my friend's place ten minutes after, the food was still hot. The drunken noodles were good. The spice level was in the mild-medium range, just enough chili peppers to notice a little heat. I loved the texture of the noodles, the consistency of the veggies, the abundance of big chicken pieces. Later, after drinks with friends, I reheated my leftovers: delicious. I didn't get much of a feel for the full menu but I enjoyed my drunken noodles and I thought the service was good. Prices are reasonable, especially the aforementioned lunch specials. I really used to like ordering from this store. The food is pretty good although pricey. Taste has been pretty consistent up to now. But there have been a few times when the delivery has been late but never 1.5 hours late. When I called the store after it was 30 minutes over due, the woman "whispered" it's on the way. I order via grubhub and can't even track it bc delivery is not part of grubhub. I know now why she whispered when she spoke...bc my order hadn't even been worked on. I feel they prioritized other orders and had me waiting. I ordered at 625p and didn't get my order until 8pm. That's so unprofessional and disrespectful. The driver didn't even apologize or explain. The store either. Pad see eww usually comes with a small container of peanut sauce. Other Thai restaurants give it. They inconsistently add one. And they charge $3.50 for a little plastic container. The pineapple fried rice (with cashews) hardly brings cashews, and no side of sweet chili sauce to go with it. They do make it overly mild for American tastes like other Thai places. -Prices are reasonable with their entrees all around $9.95. Cons: -This place is very cramped with three tiny tables inside. I have ordered from here a few times for lunch without any issues... food has always been delivered promptly, hot, and tasty. My go to is the Massamam curry. Spiced but sweet, savory and flavorful. It could use a bit more "stuff" (not just protein, but potatoes, peas, carrots) as it seems I always end up with a bowl of sauce with onions and just a FEW pieces of chicken or whatever protein I chose. (I sometimes have so much sauce left over, I take it home to add my own tofu or chicken). On this most recent lunch order, however, my coworker ordered vegetable green curry and it was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too spicy. She could not eat it; it was not edible she was sweating and tearing up profusely since she tried eating it (short lunch break, she tried to make it work). Even I tried a bit of sauce and it scorched my tastebuds numb. My coworker personally called the restaurant, and, Mong, the owner --who was VERY apologetic --was more than happy to accommodate by immediately sending out his delivery guy to bring my coworker a new order that was mild. Came here for a Thai fix. It's a really small spot with 2 little 4 person tables inside and a small table outside if you want to eat here. Most of the space here is dedicated to the kitchen. When I went in at around 11:30 they were already busy filling a large catering order. Large trays were on top of the tables. Ordered 2 lunch specials. There's a pretty nice variety on the menu, the basics you would expect. Lunch specials come with house soup, salad or deep fried shrimp dumpling(it's a Chinese deep fried ha gaow), soda or thai iced tea which is a $1 extra. Watched a few minutes of tv and voilà my food was ready. It was packed to go but I had intended to eat there. Oh well no worries since they didn't ask and I didn't specify. They were willing to unpack it but we decided to leave and take it home. The bag was quite hefty. We had gotten a beef drunken noodle with shrimp dumpling, and chicken pad thai with house soup. When I got home and cracked open the containers I was pleasantly surprised by the portions. My drunken noodle was delicious and had just an appropriate level of spice. We ordered the shrimp crab spring rolls, crispy duck salad, Tom yum noodle soup with shrimp, squid and chicken and the street noodle with shrimp, squid and chicken. Instead of the shrimp crab spring rolls, they gave us the shrimp dumpling (ha gow), which would be fine but the clear soft skin was deep fried? When we got home, the skin was super hard, we just ate the shrimp inside. The crispy duck salad was deep fried pieces of lean duck meat served with a sweet sauce that tasted like gochujang (Korean chili paste). There was also pineapple, sliced apples (?), carrots, cashews and romaine lettuce. I was excited to try my tom yum noodle soup but it was tasteless, not sour or spicy, how tom yum usually is. The street noodle was also tasteless. We ended up just putting some sweet Thai chili sauce in it and ate it because we didn't want to waste food. I like to order from this restaurant when I am craving for Thai food. It is close to me in proximity so I can walk to pick up. This is not really a place to dine in. I think they used to have maybe 2 tables. The last time I went, they did away with all the tables and moved the cash register counter closer to the door.
