I really, really, wanted to like this place. It's only 5 minutes from my home and would have been extremely handy for quick scope zeroing or testing new firearms. Had intended to do a lot of business with them. A lot. Their facility is spotless, and they actually stock firearms. Including some hard to find models. And while I never managed to use their indoor rifle range - it too appeared to be well maintained and competent. Unfortunately, my reality was different. First indication of trouble was with a simple FFL transfer. It took an amazing amount of time just to find my bolt rifle, then there was the plodding FBI confirmation process. My normal FFL dealer accomplishes everything in less than 5 minutes. Riflegear took well over an hour. Second indicator. Imagine finally getting around to using their indoor range. You are all smiles. money in hand, friendly banter with staff...then "Oopps, have you filled out our release?" Didn't faze me, I just followed instructions and walked to their kiosk. Two tablets there. Ready to process? Only neither worked. They were attached to wifi and I guess no one had disabled their network sleep function. After some mucking around, the staff managed to get it working. Still not alarmed, I prepared to skim through it. Only I couldn't. Their agreement was epic text. A lot of it. No way could read that thing. The staff was helpful (as always) and guided me to their own terminal. With a big screen...And then I was introduced to Riflegear's California lawyers (Riflegear is based in California). Holy crap. "You consent to receive riflegear ads", "you consent to giving us a perpetual license to use your images and video in our advertisements". Just went on and on. I never bothered to read to the end where I'm sure they demanded ownership of my first born along with a Riflegear tattoo to his forehead....Walked out. Today I visited Irving's Elm Fork Shooting range. Started the same with friendly banter. No agreements, no interrogations, just a warning that hearing and eye protection were required at all times. That will be $22 please. Conclusion? I just don't see how Riflegear stays in business with their California mindset. It's seriously poisonous. And it swamps out any goodwill people might have for their excellent staff. This company is simply not worthy of your patronage. read more

I really dislike this place. Based on my experience and on both the Yelp and Google (the ones that arent copy/pasted by single review users) the manager here is a real problem. I like others have run afoul of him and that's a shame. Expertise is where the value of your dealer is demonstrated. Forget pricing....that's not what it's about. So when you know more about a product and ask questions to the management and they turn around to google the answers.......how was your visit even time well spent? I went there today to place a 5 figure order. My SOT/FFL dealer is great but is in Austin so I was looking to try out this place. You never know who the customer is so be professional and loose the attitude. Short red haired guy proud to be carrying just so rude....but with no knowledge to be proud of. I suppose the owner is happy allowing the retail manager to decide that chasing 8%-12% margins on little transactional one time deals is better than establishing a relationship based client. No misunderstandings, no gripes about policies here, just a guy who wanted to make sure he isn't getting involved with the "Abbott and Costello" FFL/SOT that can't control its unqualified staff....which they are. Small little minds can destroy the strategic vision of a firm and that has never been more clear than at Rifle Gear today. read more

WOW! Another great experience with RifleGear. This has become my favorite place to shop for new firearms. I'm still fairly new to the hobby, but each time I come in I am greeted with a warm welcome and the sales guys give me space to look around without much of a hassle. Every time I have asked a question I have been given a more than adequate explanation without any sort of pressure towards a sale. It seems pretty clear to me that the only people who have given RifleGear a bad review are the morons who attempt to return or exchange a firearm or NFA item. Clearly they have no idea how much paperwork is involved in these transactions, and that their now USED product is no longer salable as new. If you want a great return policy, go shop on Amazon! This store has such BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE that it has prompted me to write the only internet review of my life. I am 3/3 in flat out bad experiences here. The staff seems disinterested and no lie, annoyed by customers. Which is bewildering to me. On two separate occasions the staff was needlessly rude to my Dad and a friend visiting from out of state (who are normal, happy, successful individuals with above average social abilities). Gave them the benefit of the doubt on my third trip to buy a home defense pistol. The salesman was such a jackass that I canceled the purchase and left. I was curious if the store received some sort of tax break by hiring all employees afflicted by Asperger's. However no such tax break exists... I googled it. Everything considered, I would rather defend the lives of my family with a set of chopsticks than buy another gun from these clowns. read more

Pleasant surprise. I found this place purely by accident (online, searching for another dealer) in Plano and I'm glad I did. They've been open for a couple of years and I never knew they were there. After my experience with them they are now my first stop. When you walk in you immediately notice this is a First Class operation. Rifle Gear has a friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Their firearms and archery inventory is impressive and their prices are considerably better than what I've been paying for from dealers I've been using for years. Their accessories and gear are all top notch and abundant. They have in house classrooms for CHL/LTC classes and other training. Wherever you are in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, please give these folks a look BEFORE you buy anywhere else ... you won't be disappointed. read more

Absolutely the most professional, well trained, deeply educated (in guns), and wide range of products. Not to mention that, no matter how much I try to find cheaper prices on ammo and guns, these folks consistently have the best prices, even better than the huge-box stores! I've bought 4 pistols and 3 rifles here, and except for the competition 22, I have been totally happy with every gun. They always follow safety rules which I appreciate! They don't work on commission, so their advice is from experience. Highly recommend these folks. I do chastise them for not having a full line of silencers, holsters, and magazines from guns they actually sell (hello, Walther PPQ??) which would make a purchase and accessory follow-up purchases more pleasant and easy. read more

Very happy with the professionalism in this store. This was my second trip, first time purchase. We live in another county, we learned about the store when we got a post card about the H & K representative being there one weekend. That brought us to Rifle Gear, although we didn't purchase at the time. I wasn't looking for a specific gun, had a few "wants" but found one, I couldn't do without, with a wide selection of possibilities. Since the drive was long, we arrived 25 minutes before closing. I was shown all the guns I wanted to look at, all questions were answered, I was treated as if I came in 25 minutes after opening, instead of closing. I really appreciated the great service. I went there just before the COVID-19 took hold and was rudely treated... first of all I was asked if I knew anything about guns, because I'm a woman and girls aren't interested in GUNS that much!! I was also wearing my veteran's hat that clearly says that I'm retired US Army and I was told that women can't be veterans, because women don't "fight on the front lines as men do." I am a retired Lieutenant Colonel with 25 years of service. I told the clerk that he's a sexist piece of dung and that he would never make in JROTC let alone in the real military. I was going to lay down some serious cash in the store, but not now. They will never get a single penny of my money and they need to go back to California. read more

This was my first time to the Plano store and a staff member (Robert) was very prompt in assisting/greeting me when I walked through the doors. Throughout the process, I never felt like I was being sold something. Robert was more of a consultant than a salesman, although he could definitely teach a class on how to be a professional salesman. I knew exactly what I was looking for (specific model) before I came in. However, the staff's professionalism and knowledge (Robert) was the reason I made the decision to purchase the firearm this afternoon (CZ SP-01 Shadow Target). I attended the License to Carry class at Rifle Gear taught by Kyle and was highly impressed. I came into the class believing that this was another pay your money, sit through 6 hours of boring lecture and get your certificate. Kyle is an excellent instructor mixing your legal requirements with real world examples to explain the law. This is a very informative and engaging class. I would highly recommend this class to all Gun Owners or Soon to be Gun Owners in Texas. Kyle is the right person to help you understand carrying a gun in Texas and it doesn't matter if you intent to Constitutionally Carry, Open Cary or Conceal Carry. A very pleasant shopping experience. It felt like I was in a high end jewelry store. The selection of merchandise had to include EVERYTHING !! Prices were for the budget minded as well as for the quality shopper with a touch of merchandise that could only qualify as the Rolls Royces of handguns The staff was very available without being pushy and a most welcome feeling of not being talked down to because I wasn't an Einstein of firearms. Dropped in for the first time today, the website showed they had something in stock I've been looking all over for. Wow - what a great place to hang out and see some high end toys. Staff was very friendly and they had an exceptional selection of pistols, both semi-auto and revolvers. Great selection of AR's in 5.56/.223, Decent selection of 7.62/.308,shotguns, .22 rifles, knives and archery equipment; sights, broadheads etc. What brought me here were some Troy off-set sights for my AR, I left with more than that...someplace to go here in Plano. Clean wel organized Gun Shop with relative practical equipment. I scoured for prices on my new XDM pistol. Distributors were out so FFL could not get one. Other stores were out and had higher prices to being with. RifleGear had the best price, and had the item in stock. I had wanted to compare against a Sig P320 full size, they had one. I asked for a sling recommendation for an AR, and they asked a few questions then showed me MagPul sling. I went out of the way to text a buddy about this new location. Private lessons of any kind are valuable when you know that you are not an expert and need the advice and guidance from someone who is. I asked for a such a lesson specific to gun cleaning. Kyle is a top notch instructor. He's extremely knowledgeable and thorough, was personable and importantly didn't feel the need to pepper the lesson with any sort of bravado. I learned to disassemble, clean and reassemble my gun, what materials to use and to avoid, along with some really useful tips and tricks. This was time and money very well spent and I look forward to future classes and lessons. read more

This is the 5th or 6th Purchase form Rifle Gear Plano...... EVERYTIME and EVERYONE , has been Knowledgable , Friendly , and Helpful. Could their Prices be better, Sure, we'd all like that, but they are competitive with other smaller specialty Firearms stores in the Area. However, what they lack in Amazon.com like prices, they more than make up for that with their staff. They have gone out of their way for me on more than one occasion. Great ammo selection, the only gun shop in DFW that carries 458 SOCOM ammo, and competitively priced. You'll only find cheaper SOCOM ammo if ordered online in bulk quantities. Weapons selection is great, one of the few places that carries Kel Tec rifles in stock and the pricing is again better than most online gun retailers. RifleGear quickly became my goto rifle shop, as I shoot CQB/tactical and long range bench rest. Staff is knowledgeable and never pressures me to buy anything, but make themselves available to answer any questions. Won't go wrong at RifleGear. read more

They had great service when I went in on the soft and grand openings. Everyone is very knowledgeable and very friendly. The selection is great and the prices are competitive. Daniel helped me out a lot and I purchased a Springfield xds from him. I was also able to get a lot of archery gear I needed for an upcoming hunting trip to Canada. I would highly recommend it to anyone new to firearms. However I thought I saw Al Pacino when I went in. It turned out to be one of the employees or managers that works there. We were very impressed with the professionalism of the staff, the store layout, and everything in general. I stopped by today to browse. I was greeted the minute I walked in the door and started perusing. These guys have serious inventory. I've been to a lot of shops in the metroplex area and these guys are the best. I am very impressed by their selection of parts and accessories. Bobby was extremely helpful and even mounted a muzzle brake to show me how easy it is to use the suppressor I was looking at. I am very impressed with this place and I WILL be coming back.
