David C funny however when I see your workers allow people to dry fire the pistols what do you think happens to the firing pin? I've only been manufacturing my own rifles and components for years. So yea shooter 2 reference although funny shows your general demeanor. If I'm gonna buy a pistol I take it apart and check all components and with your restocking fee it is gonna have to be right. Then you make customers, who most of your cliente seem like novices, wouldn't know what they are looking at. Also the funny remark about shooting in the parking lot, although funny was a comment that if your going to be that big and not have a range shows again you have no care for the art. Now for mag extenders for pistols like a glock 43's etc is quite common to have a magazine extender for your finger to rest on. You make a comment of extendo clip? Are you even aware what a mag extender is for? Different purposes again please get more education. So I didnt want to say this but i would advise anyone to stay away from this place. Also your staff needs more education that a 6.5 creedmore is not the same rifle as a 6.5 grendal. Also please let your staff know that a square trigger is referred to as a ranger trigger, and it is legal.. .all yelpers after reading how David responds to customers would you really want the headache of shopping at this store? read more

Trying to find a decent handgun anywhere these days is really, really hard. They had one I wanted, but of course, like everywhere else, out of stock. So I signed up to be notified when they received a shipment - which I did with about a dozen other retailers who also sell online. RifleGear was the only shop that actually did send an e-mail a month or so later, and I was lucky enough to snag a Sig P229 Legion. Shipped within a couple days and was received by my local dealer. Considering the times, it was a good price, too - these guys could have marked it up 25% and they still would have sold out right away. This place is the real deal. read more

Not sure what the previous bad review was about but RG has always been top notched and upfront with all their firearms. Whether it's used on consignment or NIB, everything is properly labeled and organized. It's by far the cleanest and friendliest gun shop in DFW. We called up here maybe 2 times a week to check and see if they had the gun that we wanted because it was on back order, today we call and they finally had it in stock, we get to the store and they say they can't sell us the gun because apparently 3 other people came in to look at the gun with our same phone number, so we can't get the gun because apparently we called too much and they say someone else called from our phone number... which was probably us because they never have the gun in stock so I called every couple of days before I went up there so I didn't waste my time... tried to tell me I came in with someone from New York, I don't know anyone from New York.... all over would not go back to this place due to this incident... they could've told us not to call so many times if it's such a problem, not wait until the last minute when I come in to the store to buy it the same day... read more

Moved to TX! Stopped in to say "Hi" as well as to get some STANDARD capacity magazines and maybe some high caps ;). Prices were great and the staff was great as always. Very willing to just talk and help test out firearms. Prices on their suppressors are VERY competitive. I'm definitely having a hard time deciding where to go considering I can shoot a suppressor at one shop while I wait for the stamp to come back, or save a large $$$ at Rifle gear. Great place to go for quality firearms and accessories. Staff have always been friendly and knowledgeable. Purchased an HK VP9 recently on sale. Price was excellent. Just purchased a Blackhawk Omnivore holster there today... also on sale. I think their standard prices are very reasonable for the quality merchandise they carry. Don't expect bargain basement or cheap quality firearms and accessories when you go there. They sell the good stuff! I like that! I know I'm getting quality. Store is very well kept and organized. Will continue to shop there with confidence. I have over 40 years of firearms experience and know when I'm being BS'd from someone behind the counter. Hasn't happened to me at this store. Wow... {smh} So the owner responds to my fair review of my experience with this, "I'm sorry but there must have been some miscommunication, but for liability and safety concerns, we have always had a policy of no returns and exchanges on firearms and ammunition. Our sales staff fully understand this policy and would not purposely mislead anyone in order to make a sale. The return policy is clearly stated on our receipt as well as on the "Customer Verification" section of our 4473 Checklist form, which was signed by your wife." Really... so now they choose to call a grandmother (who knows nothing about guns and was relying on their word) a liar. Shameful. Apparently the owner feels that he needs to take revenge for my post. I did not raise a protest as they have a right to conduct their business in this way. It is true, my wife signed 'a lot of papers' - she couldn't tell you what they were. But she did leave with the reassurance of the young man that sold her the rifle that it could be exchanged for another if this wasn't the right one. Imagine her disappointment when I came home and told her they would not allow the exchange. She was very upset that (in her mind) she gave me the wrong Christmas present. I also noticed that other negative reviews for RifleGear tend to be around customer service and knowledge. Perhaps the staff needs better training. The owner should not consider his staff to be infallible at the risk of losing his customers. They should be trained to give good advice, and the right advice. We have twice burned by RifleGear. As a Certified Firearms Instructor and a good citizen, I would not recommend this business as they are not honorable and have demonstrated disrespect of people in the gun community. Just read all the disclaimers on the receipt as the manager pointed out. I will actively tell everyone I know, and teach, to steer clear of RifleGear. read more

I have sort of a love-hate relationship with RifleGear and was excitedly dreading the opening of their Plano location. I love it because it's conveniently located near me. I also hate it because it's conveniently located near me. There's nothing else like it in the DFW area short of a gun show, and it's so easy to just drop in while out and about so they can gleefully drain my wallet. I suppose I could criticize their slightly higher prices compared to gun shows or online shopping, but I think the fact that they're local and can offer a degree of instant gratification without entry fees, parking fees, excessive fuel consumption, and without a lot of time fighting traffic more than makes up for it. I think the same could be said for just about any other brick & mortar business, but again, I think RifleGear stands on its own in the DFW area. I don't get too nit-picky about attire and such. I'm a jeans & t-shirt kinda guy, myself, so I feel right at home in here. I'm not coming to this place to be impressed by some frilly uniform or judge anyone based on discussions of other hobbies. I'm here to get good gear and good, friendly service, and I've yet to walk out disappointed. The RifleGear staff have never left me with the impression they are less than professional. More importantly, they've never left me with the impression they are staffed by a bunch of douchy gun shop counter commandos which seem so prevalent in the retail gun store environment. If there's one thing I can seriously criticize, it's their selection of accessories. That's not to say there's not a good selection of accessories at this store, but the overwhelming majority of it seems to be Magpul gear. Sure, Magpul is great stuff, and I've certainly got my fair share of it, but there's a whole world of accessories outside of the Magpul universe. Minus one star for lack of brand variety. read more

First time customer today. They have a terrific selection of handguns, rifles, shotguns and sporting guns. I found a great deal on a much needed aluminum magazine. The staff was superbly helpful and knowledgeable. The ammo section was limited, but I never buy ammo from gun stores, so it was no big deal. Nice selection of cases for sport guns. Also, they informed me that they will ship items from their Fountain Valley, California, to the Plano store at zero cost to customers. All-in-all, I will definitely be back. One more really nice service is the constant updating of the store inventory. It updates every minute and they will work with you to hold in-store items. Just an all around great store. read more

I really like the range and the staff is pretty great, they have a good selection and fair prices.On two occasions i've gone in and asked about guns sitting on the self for sale, While talking to the salesman for 10-15 minuets asking questions. On both occasions they told me that some one had bought it online. When asked how someone bought if I'm holding it & looking at it? He just shrugged and said that's the online system. I don't blame the salesman. If a gun is sold why is it out? Why can someone buy a gun that I'm trying to buy? i guess if you know exactly what you want then that's great but if you need someone to answer questions and help you, I'd recommend you go some where else. Never shop here. Staff shows a horrible lack of knowledgeable around Class3 items. I changed my mind on a suppressor purchase before filling out the Form 4 or providing my trust and they attempted to charge me a $200 restocking fee. First they said I had to pay a credit card fee of $175 and when I pointed out that reversing the charge meant AMEX wouldn't charge them, they dropped that and went with the restocking fee. They also demand that you pay a "concierge" fee of $15 to fill out the Form 4. A first for me and I have bought over 20 NFA items from at least 6 other companies. In spite of the fact I had never taken possession (even though the idiot behind the counter handed the suppressor to me with my receipt) nor can even legally own it until it's approved by the ATF they insist that I pay this restocking fee. I had to point out to the clerk that I would be going to jail for 10 years if I walked out with it and so would he. Idiots!!! Never shop here. The customer service is the worst I have seen and others here pointed out the ridiculous return policies. read more

I also like the people at the store. they were very nice. The prices are set at retail (MSRP) and you can certainly find them cheaper in town or online for the exact product. My main issue is their 10% restocking fee. In fairness, it is listed on the receipt, but not mentioned by the staff at the time of purchase and I did not see any signs in the store. I purchased 2 small items less than 7 days prior at the full retail price (under 100) and returned them in 2 unopened boxes, with no damage at all. I was charged the 10% restocking fee. I was offered the opportunity to get a gift certificate at 100%, but it could only be used in the store. To me it was the principal that counted. With 3 different stores in a 10 mile radius, I'll just go somewhere else. So much for building customer loyalty. read more

Hidden gem. Been driving down to the Trinity River forever to talk guns, shop for parts and ammo. This store is very clean and well laid out. I was pleased to find knowledgeable staff that was eager to help solve my problem and help me locate parts that you don't find at Academy or your typical sporting goods outlet. Kyle was very helpful getting me through some NFA paperwork too. Purchased two suppressors from their wide selection and they were in stock with the accessory parts I was needing. First of all let me start by saying that regardless of the industry you're in, customer service is key to the success of a business. In these times, ESPECIALLY in these times the people who work in this industry need to focus on being welcoming to the people willing to honor their 2nd amendment and exercise their right, but are just too damn scared to ask questions because the people behind the counter are intimidating (on purpose and tacticool), rude and not willing to help. My husband and I came in about an hour ago, and my husband is a huge gun enthusiast, not only by hobby but also as his career. He is an avid gun collector and his friends and people around him have fallen in love with firearms because of him. That means he brings in a lot of business to any store that sells guns etc. Because we like to support small businesses, my husband has gone in to rifle gear several times to look around and see prices for his next purchase etc, it's like a candy store to him. Today we went in an a couple people that worked there didn't greet us at all, I sat down because I don't care much for it as much as he does. He kept looking around and I could tell he just didn't want to bother any of the employees there, but I started getting frustrated at the fact that NONE of them asked him if he needed help or if he was looking for anything in specific. But the second another guy "with the cowboy boots and blue eyes" walks in they give him the warmest welcome. I looked at my husband and I said we need to get out of here because their customer service is unacceptable and they don't deserve his business. He was ready to spend more than $1,000 on a fire arm today. But we walked out. It's these environments that are making this industry seem evil and divisive in this country. To the owner of this place: teach your employees to be welcoming and to use customer service tactics as a selling point. Meaning, be NICE TO EVERYONE. Because your best marketing is word of mouth and recommendations. Anyways, never coming back. My husband is taking his business elsewhere, and all his contacts and people that want to purchase a gun with his help will also take their business elsewhere. read more
