John had been in hospitals for over four months with only two weeks at home. He went in for a day surgery and ended up with a hematoma , then developed a pressure wound on his heel that caused Osteomyletis and ended with a below the knee amputation. We need to have reliable care in order for my daughter to take me to my Dr. appointments and just have some relief for the 24 hour care he was needing. Unfortunately, the talk was was great but the follow through was not existent. We had one care giver come out for a visit, who was personable but not a good fit with my husband. Our second try never showed although we has a confirmation email from the office. We never received a call about the no show and when we called the office and asked to have Jeremy call, we never heard from anyone. Needless to say we needed reliability from this service and received none.

I live 430 miles away from my mother, and I needed help that was going to answer messages promptly. Visiting Angels was terrific at that. They did wound care for two days and then left him hanging Saturday, Sunday and Monday without wound care. There has been no PT done what so ever to work on his balance. There was a lack of communication after the first day regarding my father's care - and they knew they were supposed to communicate with me regarding everything. While they neglected his PT needs and wound care needs yesterday, it seems they did send out a social worker to see if he needed food, transportation, etc, when they already KNEW those needs were being met by family members. I have to agree with my dad - they were merely "running up the bill" yesterday with the social worker visit.

SPH w/ Linda & Sarah to the rescue. When his original scheduled sitter became ill at the last min, management i.e.Sarah, stepped right in to cover a few days till another "regular" sitter could be scheduled. He has had Amber coming about 4 weeks and really likes her. My father is eccentric, set in his way as any 85 yo is and not very sociable, so this is saying alot. I do not have a doubt in the world, that should Amber need to miss a day for some reason, Linda & Sarah will be right on top of things. Great peace of mind. The best communication team ever.
