We need to have reliable care in order for my daughter to take me to my Dr. appointments and just have some relief for the 24 hour care he was needing. Unfortunately, the talk was was great but the follow through was not existent. We had one care giver come out for a visit, who was personable but not a good fit with my husband. Our second try never showed although we has a confirmation email from the office. We never received a call about the no show and when we called the office and asked to have Jeremy call, we never heard from anyone. I live 430 miles away from my mother, and I needed help that was going to answer messages promptly. Visiting Angels was terrific at that. Dean Longo at the Norfolk office was unbelievably understanding and just phenomenal to work with. Compassionate and professional. They did wound care for two days and then left him hanging Saturday, Sunday and Monday without wound care. There has been no PT done what so ever to work on his balance. There was a lack of communication after the first day regarding my father's care - and they knew they were supposed to communicate with me regarding everything. While they neglected his PT needs and wound care needs yesterday, it seems they did send out a social worker to see if he needed food, transportation, etc, when they already KNEW those needs were being met by family members. I have to agree with my dad - they were merely "running up the bill" yesterday with the social worker visit.

One of our family members was released from the great Craig Wound Center after 10 grueling months of suffering. If it were not for a Touching Hearts Agency's Caregiver, the greatest caregiver ever, WE WOULD NEVER HAVE DISCOVERED THIS LIFE THREATENING ISSUE. No one saw it but her! Not only was she extremely competent, but RELIABLE and reliability IS THE BIGGEST challenge when counting on agencies for caregiving. BUT NOT TOUCHING HEARTS! The scheduler at Touching Hearts is literally an angel among us. Due to in and out of hospital, from Cancer and more, we never knew when a glitch would happen to our schedule; however, we were never afraid to call and inform them. They worked with us daily, sometimes, hour by hour, to try and accommodate us. "That's our job," they would say, as we begged for forgiveness. And their on the front lines staff, who answer the phones, simply MAKE YOUR DAY. Not only with the biggest hello, how are you doing today, but manage somehow to get a lot of giggles in midst of bad trying times. I love Haley, Bryan, and everyone at Touching Hearts. They literally got our family member where he is today, MORE INDEPENDENT! That is their goal. Not to keep you there to make money, but to nurture one back to independence.
