Breaks still screwed up after taking it back to fix. Now they have to fix them for the 3rd time, same problem, ribbing and squealing! The can't give me a time for appt. I have to leave my car for the 3rd time which is a grave inconvenience as I don't have another car to drive. They usually don't have it done that day, and the repair pushes to the next day. I drive my car for a living and can't go without my car sooo many times for the same problem!! Then I had them replace the breaking light bar as it stopped working. After pulling my car apart to do this, it was never put back the way it was. Panels not connected in the trunk and in the back seat!! It's unfortunate as this garage is close to me so I can walk back home after leaving the car up-teem many times, but to the point of being ridiculous!! I do not recommend this garage!!

When, during your cross-country roadtrip in an '84 Vanagon Westphalia is interrupted, just like…read morethat-- it is always like this, with cars with people; we, ourselves, are probably too old, in our middle 60's, to have undertaken this trip at all, sans air-conditioning, with our sweet eight-year-old dog-- on Hwy 90 in Fingerlakes region of New York (so close to making it all the way across!), the sudden loss of power indicating something grave, you are thinking, like the main drive belt, & you pull over (plenty of room for a tow-truck, just in case), & toss out all the luggage in back because underneath it is the old engine & you have *two* spare drive belts & can do this repair yourself! Only you can see immediately that the belt is fine. You start the car again: no gears to shift into; we lost the clutch, you are thinking. Then the superb tow-truck driver at Farmington Towing (shout-out! sorry I forgot your name; see: "mid-60's), suggests I call CDI in Victor while he's up-loading the van & Mike, co-owner, answers the phone & says, "I don't even have anywhere to *put* your car & we're booking out three weeks from now & one of our mechanics is on vacation, but, sure, bring it by." Apologies for suspending the punchline for so long, but, after renting a car (shout out to the local Enterprise & Caleb) & thinking we'd be spending the next week exploring the Fingerlakes for the next week (we're fine with that: see "mid-60's), & spending the night in a sweet & vacant yurt (shout-out Plum Point Lodge), Mike at CDI has, overnight!, determined that the clutch cable & assembly are actually fine & that what need repairing are the CV joint & boot (so doable, especially when, as owner, you have a thing for old vw vans & have spare parts in abundance!). Mike has our van back on the road in 24 hours (backup on the lot be damned; he's committed to "getting us back on the road" to complete our cross-country road-trip)! Robert (shout-out: a mechanic who works with Mike) identifies an axel issue (that would have been big trouble further down the road) as well, so they fix that, too. All this to say that CDI Auto Repair in Victor, NY, is one of those magical, necessary stops along the road you didn't even know you needed to encounter. Now writing from Maine just a couple of days later: my grandfather was a great & honest auto mechanic; I know them when I happen upon them. (Shout-out also to Garrett at C & G Auto Repair in Hanksville, UT for his own skillful & timely work to keep us going). I was very, very pleased. Time passed. Someone backed into me. Again, a flawless job right on target with the estimate. A great place to deal with about what can be a distressing event. Well off the road and around a curve in Cedarfield Commons - you'd never know it was there unless you knew it was there. I wouldn't even consider trying another bodywork place now.

I hate to leave bad reviews but I need to warn people - especially those that may not be as 'car…read moresavvy' as others. So I was involved in an accident that left both my driver's side tires blown out and both rims with extensive damage. I had heard good things about Northside so I had my vehicle taken to Northside in Dewitt (I live in the Syracuse area). The Dewitt location said they were backed up so they were sending my truck to the Greece location. I received a call from one of their reps so he could find out what happened in the accident and hear my concerns regarding other damages my truck may have incurred since we could only see the tires and rims were damaged. We had a quick but good conversation and he asked me if I wanted the new tires in the front or back since you cannot have unevenly worn tires on either side. (Differing treads should be placed opposite one another i.e. one set of same treads in front and other set of treads in rear) You cannot do this side to side as the vehicle will pull, essentially fight itself as the treads try to do their thing. Anyways - having him ask me that was reassuring that he knew what he was doing so I felt less anxious. They said my vehicle would be ready 7/2. I didn't hear anything that day but I figured with the upcoming holiday, they were probably a little behind (no biggie - I had a great rental ;) So I called on 7/7 after not hearing anything and they said my truck was in quality control and they were about to call me later that day to arrange for pick up (back in Dewitt) So I arrived at their Dewitt location and spoke with two nice ladies who explained to me that they had an alignment done on my truck - they 'subcontract' alignments through Monroe Tire and Muffler. But they said they had to replace the upper ball joint so again I felt better knowing they found that - which led me to believe they actually had taken a serious approach to my concern. So I drove off - happy as a clam. Until I did my own test and found that my truck was pulling to the left. And not slightly - I took my hand off the wheel and it immediately started veering into the oncoming lane. So I got home and took a closer look. They installed the new rims and tires on the driver's side and hadn't rotated them so the more-worn tires were in the back and new tires were in the front. I wouldn't have been so angry if the rep hadn't specifically mentioned they were going to do just that! And the quality control inspection? WHAT THE F@$K WERE THEY INSPECTING?!?!? I will say that when I called the rep he did apologize several times and offered to fix it if I brought it in. But that would be more of a waste of my time and jockeying cars and rides etc that I didn't want to deal with. So I fixed it myself in an hour in my garage. This is a concern to me because my original tires are still fairly new (purchased last fall). But what if another customer was in there, down on their luck, whose original tires weren't in the best shape? That could cause an accident and someone could be hurt. I also want to mention that I have a sneaking suspicion that Northside 'subcontracted' the entire project to Monroe, who slapped the tires on there and called it good and Northside was being lazy and didn't follow up. They just made Monroe do all the work for half what the insurance company was paying them. That's pretty low Northside. Your reputation just took a big hit in my book.

The gas prices can be a little more expensive than other places nearby, and their air pump could use some maintenance, but as far as car service goes, they're wonderful. I went in for my inspection and they were able to get me in first thing the next morning. They were done in about two hours, but it was no problem for me to leave my car there until I was able to pick it up after work. More recently, I was having problems with my check engine light going off and on periodically, so I stopped there on a whim. I told them I'd be happy to leave it or bring it back when it was more convenient for them, but he came out right away to do a quick check. It was nothing serious - he fixed it quickly and talked me through what might've caused it. There was no charge for this and now I can rest easy knowing there's no crazy damage happening inside my car! I've never once felt like I was being cheated out of money or good quality service! I will always go to Park Avenue Garage for my inspections and any time I have questions or need maintenance.
