Off Leash K9 Training is the worst and most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with. Their customer service the most appalling group of individuals - they take days or weeks to respond, create false scenarios and their only concern is money instead of dogs. Alex and Anthony are the two worst individuals I have ever spoken to or dealt with. They take 2/3 of the money from the program leaving their trainers with the other 1/3 and do not pay them for months. We left our dog for 30 mins and chose to return to pick him up as he was left in a very unsafe, cramped and dangerous situation. Not only were we a last minute add on, they were organized and sent thorough documentation and instructions prior for us to review so we were ready for drop off. Once I brought my dog, Rikki was great. She walked me though the property and where my dog would be staying. There was a schedule provided so I knew what he would be doing each day. Videos and pictures daily with updates which was incredible to see the progression. Watching Rikki train with my dog, I would not ask for another trainer. When I picked up my dog, Rikki was thorough with instructions on what we should be doing now at home. LiAndra, our trainer, was amazing! I was a little nervous about leaving my puppy for that length of time, but LiAndra made me feel comfortable immediately upon arrival. She truly cared for my pup like her own and worked on my pup's specific needs while at training, even though they were outside the guaranteed learned commands. I had my pups trained with Rikki and I am SO impressed. Before training they would rarely listen to commands, they pulled while on the leash, and were constantly jumping on everyone and everything. It took numerous emails on my part to schedule a simple phone call with the owner, Alex Rayner, which didn't turn out to be all that informative or helpful. She sounded rushed and not at all interested in my dog or his issues. She didn't even ask what his name is, and seemed ill-equipped to explain why I should give Off Leash K9 Training between $3,000-$5,000 to have my dog trained by one of their trainer's homes in Connecticut or Westchester (there is no actual center--dogs are placed in the private homes of their trainers where they train several dogs at once). Every question I asked was answered with a saccharine sounding "Yeah! So...." Her responses were extremely short and unsatisfying, and it felt like I was talking to a 12 year old. She also promised to send intake forms during our call, which she never did until I emailed her four days later reminding her of that promise. To be candid, I wasn't actually asking her for the intake forms at that point--I was attempting to point out her unresponsiveness. But the humor seemed completely lost on her so she emailed me the forms a few hours later, along with a 50% deposit request, claiming I must have missed the forms from a new email thread she claims she started (she did not), rather than take responsibility for her unresponsiveness. I've already been in touch with a highly rated and reputable board and train center with a central location on Long Island. They've been timely and professional in my communications with them, they provided me with a very informative Zoom consultation, and I've already hired them to train my dog for three weeks this summer. I hope Alex realizes how her unprofessional behavior is causing her to lose potential clients, and how word of mouth through social media and personal contacts can make or break a business--regardless of how many celebrity clients they boast about. read more

I've had excellent experiences training my one-year-old German Shepherd Eva with Marlon Leon! We are currently about 5 lessons into our package and Eva's progress has been incredible. After just one lesson with Marlon, Eva stopped running to the door anytime someone arrived, stopped counter surfing for food, stopped jumping on people, and had mastered sit, down, place, and off. I can honestly say that Eva has learned more in 5 lessons with Marlon than during the 3 weeks she previously had spent in a board and train program at a highly rated positive-reinforcement-only trainer in Manhattan, where she left with her previous issue of leash reactivity mostly resolved but absolutely NO obedience skills whatsoever beyond sitting for a treat. Eva no longer pulls on leash during walks and no longer relies on the head harness that her previous trainer was insistent about using, though it was clear Eva hated it as she was constantly pawing at it, AND still pulled on walks. I now walk her with just a slip lead and the remote collar and she maintains a heel position at my side. Her leash walking has become so good that we are now working on her off leash heel, with the goal of going totally off leash. This is something I never would have thought possible for Eva, especially given the extremely slow progress of our prior training experiences. The remote collar has been an excellent tool and while they sometimes have a controversial reputation, I attribute much of Eva's recent success to the remote collar. Marlon is extremely proficient with using the remote collar. Marlon is also very articulate with explaining the remote collar to you as the owner, so you can ensure that you too are using it in an effective and humane manner that your dog understands. We can now actually enjoy walks, have people come over, take Eva out to lounge in the park, and eat dinner at outdoor restaurants where she lays calmly at our side. WE DO NOT TRUST THIS ORGANIZATION Our dog came back from training with open wounds all over his legs and was not trained especially to the level of the "guarantee" the Company offers. When we contacted the organization with our concerns, Alex Rayner - the franchise owner of the Albany Off Leash K9 Training - claimed she would discuss with the trainer and come back to us with a follow-up plan. Given what we observed, we had requested a trainer come to us for a follow-up assessment; in which she said it was not possible and we would have to drive 45 mins to see another trainer. We quickly became aware that it seems that each of the "trainers" are actually contracted out by a local franchise owner. In our opinion, this creates a situation where you are not exactly sure who is training your dog, what their experience is, and where your dog will be staying during their training. After we followed up multiple times about our concerns, Alex finally got back to us and completely dismissed our claims and concerns. She was unapologetic, lacked any empathy towards our dog and showed little concern that we were upset with the condition our 5-month old puppy came back to us. When we explained our frustration, she quickly raised her voice and said there is nothing she is going to do. Our opinion is that Alex is clearly in over her head, is not actively involved in the training of the dogs and when things are challenging clearly does not care about her customers - or their dogs! read more

If you're looking for a professional dog trainer I can tell you that this is NOT the place to bring your dog! My boyfriend and I set up our dog for off leash training with Matt Hiser for a three week board and train; cost of program being $3800. We had expressed IN ADVANCE that our pup we had adopted needed extra assistance, but was not able to be with other aggressive dogs while he was in training due to his anxiety and past history. Keep in mind we had put $1700 down in advance... the DAY BEFORE the trainer notified us that the drop off location had changed and when I contacted the trainer we were told that he would be around aggressive dogs regardless and that our dog would stay in his truck until the other trainings were finished. Keep in mind as well, this would be a completely new environment for our pup and he would've been sitting in a truck alone without us there!! When we contacted and decided to not move forward with drop off we were contacted by administrators stating that they would not refund us the money and that I was in the wrong...they care more about their trainers getting paid than they do your animals. First, he made sure to send us updates every day, pictures and also follow up messages to let us know that Enzo our two years old bully was doing ok without us asking him to do it. Before training, it was hard to have people coming over to our apartment because he jumped and barked to every person that came to visit us. Every time my husband came to me to hug me Enzo started barking and growling because he wanted my husband's attention. We couldn't be watching tv on the couch because he starts fighting with my other dog; we were so stressed about it because we love them so much that given them up was not an option. We took our one y/o German Shepherd Dog to Marlon in Longbeach for the 2 week boarding/training session. We previously tried to have him trained, without success. We were thrilled with our trainer Marlon from Off Leash K9 training. Our 4-year-old dog Kemba is an active and friendly Duck Tolling Retriever, but he had jumping issues, plus pulling on the leash and counter-surfing. We've only had him back home for 4 days, but all of those behaviors are almost non-existent now. We barely have had to correct Kemba, and when we do, he immediately gets back to good behaviors. So disappointed with this company as a whole. I've trained my dog in the past with one of the trainers named mike out in Long Island, who did a phenomenal job working with my dog, training him and also working with me during the whole process. The board and train option was the beat option and it was money well spent. When I adopted another dog into my family, which then decided to use this same company to train her, they refused to schedule me with the trainer, mike who trained my other pup. After being set up with a trainer name Alex( not the owner) there was no turning back. My dog was clearly not trained properly and I was able to see this right after picking my dog up from the board and train. The trainer Alex assured me saying that my puppy is excited to see me and has a lot of energy and that I would need to give it time for her to get out of the puppy stage... like what? That makes no sense. After reaching out to Alex(the owner) I was set up what they call a "refresher" to help with the current issues. I brought my other dog to this refresher who has been trained by the same company so they can see that it is not the dog nor me not keeping up with training but simply that my dog was never trained properly to begin with. Alex (the owner) offered to re train my dog at no extra cost by her herself because of this extreme inconvenience to me. We tried to set up a day for me to drop my dog off... for the second time but Alex never got back to me on scheduling. Honestly ? First and foremost, let me say that I highly recommend Mike and Alex of Off Leash K9 Training to train your dog. Regardless if you think your dog is "untrainable", or you feel that if you can't do it, then no one can. Take them to Off Leash K9 Training for the two-week intensive training and improve you and your dog's quality of life. Period. I was definitely skeptical about what Off Leash KR Training could do. My dogs (Facebook.com/Squash-and-Beans-183402701755108) ages 4 and 5 at the time of training were both rescued and one of them (Beans, a Terrier/Hound mix, rescued from the NYCACC) had several issues: Dominant behavior towards other dogs; leash anxiety, leash pulling, general anxiety and excitement peeing, and a constant thirst for attention. Being the smaller of the two, she's definitely the boss over Squash (Pit-Terrier Mix) and felt that translated to her being the boss of every other larger dog. Squash was the complete opposite. My first dog ever, she turned out to be an amazing find that I plucked out of the NYC ASPCA with a coin flip. Well behaved, but she needed to learn the basics, as well as learn to curb her jumping excitement towards people - all people! When I dropped them off for the two-week intensive training course, I requested daily video updates and progress reports and was not disappointed. Beans was immediately put in her place in the food chain by "the pack" and quickly learned to chill out. Squash fit right in and was her usual self, getting along with everyone, both people and dogs alike. Their training steadily progressed and I kept a keen eye on the updates, status reports, and training videos, particularly where Beans was concerned. She was the problem child and I had my doubts as to how Mike and Alex would do with her. To my surprise, my "hooligans" ended up passing test after test after test with flying colors. I was absolutely shocked at the transformation and very proud of my girls because of how far they had come. I live in NYC and walk them "off-leash" every time we go out. I'm stopped at least once a day and complimented on how well my girls are behaved. I've even demonstrated to multiple law enforcement officials how my girls "off-leash" are better behaved than most dogs "on-leash". We continue training every day and reinforce the commands as often as possible. Off Leash K9 Training definitely changed my life for the better. Before, I would use a roll of paper towels every day cleaning up after Beans'. Now, maybe once a week she has a small accident, maybe. She would always try to dominate other dogs outside, now, she wants to socialize and be friendly. They're trained to heel, one on each side of me, wherever we go. Let me start off by saying this is not a 2-week relationship and you're done, this is a relationship for life. Marlon has kept in touch and has been very helpful with any questions or advice I may need. It is really comforting to know I have this resource going forward. In regards to the training, Marlon did a phenomenal job. I've grown up with dogs my whole life and I've use various trainers, but I was blown away by Marlon. Before the program I will admit I was a little nervous because my dog is young and has a very sensitive and sometimes nervous personality as she is still gaining confidence in the world. I was scared how she would handle the e-collar and strict training program. I was also afraid she would lose her spunk and wonderful, excited, goofy personality and come back like a robot.
