I had some curb rash on one of my machined and diamond-cut wheels and reached out to Chris based on the great reviews. He responded quickly, gave a very fair quote, and came to my place to do the repair. The initial result already looked much better, but unfortunately I touched the clear coat before it had fully cured and left a fingerprint. That was entirely my fault. When I let Chris know, he was incredibly understanding and offered to come back and fix it at no charge. I offered to cover at least some of his time and expenses, but he really went above and beyond. Not only did he reapply the clear coat, he also polished and blended the entire section of the rim so the repair was even less noticeable than before. Given the nature of diamond-cut wheels, I knew a 100 percent invisible factory-perfect finish was not realistic without a full lathe refinish. Chris got it as close as anyone reasonably could. You really will not notice anything unless you are specifically looking for it. Chris is responsive, skilled, and professional. He does excellent work and clearly cares about doing right by his customers. I highly recommend him. read more

I seriously can't recommend Chris enough! I had a deep curb rash on my Tesla rim (check the before photo!) and he made it look completely brand new--like it never even happened. I had read Chris's reviews and hoped that he would respond out of all of the shops that yelp vetted in my inquiry and he did! He was super easy to schedule/communicate with, arrived on time, and the work took about 2-2.5 hours tops for all 4 wheels right outside of my garage. The wheel pictured was in the worst shape and literally looked like Cookie Monster had been nibbling on it. As you can see in the second photo, Chris worked his magic and it looks brand new! I HIGHLY suggest the Rim Restorer! I feel like for the quality of work that is done, the price is unbeatable here in the Oakland area! I had damage nearly all around one of my rims. I accidentally hit a curb whilst not paying attention at night. I reached out to Chris and provided pictures of the damage. He assured me he can restore it and promptly scheduled time to arrive to my driveway the next day. He arrived on time, walked me through the process, and did his magic. I sent him a picture of my slightly curb damaged rim and he responded promptly informing me that while it's fixable, he would not likely be able to match the color. I appreciated his honesty instead of him trying to do the job, but it turning out bad, or something like that. He referred me to another place in Walnut Creek that refinishes and repaints the entire wheel, however they were too expensive and it wasn't worth it for me to do that. So, I'm considering my curb rash a 'war scar' and just living with it. read more

Spectacular job. Full stop. I honestly didn't know it was even possible to do. I had some deep curb rash from a previous owner that I wanted removed from 3/4 wheels. He responded almost immediately and he informed me that he was busy for the next two days and would schedule me for the following Monday. Chris did a wonderful job. Has some some road rash on my brand new rims..you already know I was mad. Called several places they wanted me to bring the rim to their shop and it was going to take 2 days to fix. So that was a no go. Hopped on Yelp scrolling thru trying to find a reasonable place that can fix it without having to take the rim off or paying extra cash for "expedited" service. Until I seen this 5 star business called the Rim Restorer! 5 stars on Yelp?! Naw! Can't be true! Going thru the reviews I starting to feel a little more interested. Called for a quote got back to me in a reasonable time. Sent pics and got a good quote I was comfortable with. Asked was he available today which he was. Oh did I mention he's MOBILE! Yes a mobile rim repair! Showed up on time very professional, courteous and introduced himself which made me feel at ease. We talked bout what happened to the rim and he shared some his previous work done and had a few laughs. So I thought I'll let him get to work. It took bout 45 minutes to finish the job. When it was finished. I was in awe of how beautiful my rim had been restored to it original design. I was so in shock I was trying to find something wrong with it. I specialise in mobile rim repair. I will resurface the affected area and will repaint with the proper colour using the highest quality products. I don’t however repair chrome, bent or cracked rims. I service alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, solano, and contra costa counties. I am also available to travel to napa and Sonoma counties as well.

Established in 2014.

First of all I trained for this type of repair since 2006 but reestablished my skills in 2012. I trained under a true professional and when the previous owner and friend Chris Kamp moved on he distributed his base accounts to my father in law and me. Since 2015 I have been establishing a new base of operations and accounts.

My name is Christopher Richardson. I grew up loving all things automotive and the art of automobiles as well. My father and I built and restored cars since I was a young kid. Today I brought in my new to me (used) sporty car because the tire warning light indicated a problem. AVN located and removed a nail and patched the tire. They also pointed out a missing lug and a stripped lug on another wheel.* No charge.
