Just got new nose pads for my favorite sunglasses today. I didn't want to tinker with trying to fix them myself and risk further damage. So they ended up sitting in a drawer for some time. Rims & Goggles looked like a high-end eyewear retailer at a glance, but it's also a full-service optometry. It took the optician less than 5 minutes to put on new nose pads, and the glasses came back fixed and polished, good as new- all for $10. I'm so glad I found them. read more

These people really know what they're doing and are always friendly and helpful when I need my frames tightened. I got my first pair of glasses from them and then made the mistake of going somewhere else for my prescription sunglasses. Without out a doubt, this business and all the staff, are the most helpful and prompt optical store I have ever done business with. They have been making my glasses for over 10 yrs, but recently they went out of their way to expedite my new eye glasses due to cataract surgery. Guido, got the new prescription on a wednesday, my new glasses were ready on Monday and we flew out on vacation on Sunday. It obviously was important for me to have these new glasses done before flying out of town as I couldn't see and couldn't drive for 50 days because of the eye surgery. He saved me and made my vacation a seeing vacation. They are the best and I will never forget the prompt service and ability to perform in promising my glasses before our vacation. read more

I finally went to R&G after aimlessly visiting a heap of shops, trying on frames, receiving little or no advice. Rims and Goggles was completely different. The sales assistant was beyond great. I tried on tons of glasses and completely appreciated the feedback. I narrowed it down to a coupla of frames and she had me try them on in front of a full length mirror - so I could get the overall effect. Voila, the choice was obvious. The frames were not nearly as expensive as I anticipated. The digitized lenses are $$$ but HEY, these things work for reading, computer and distance. Excellent. read more

i got my prescription reading and sun glasses done at rims and goggles and i have to say that, in my opinion, this is the best place to get unique one of a kind made to fit glasses. most stores i visited, you shop around and find the glasses that fit. granted, i did do some heavy research on the web before venturing into the store. but of all the stores that i researched, it was rims and goggles that caught my eye. fantastic selection, unique lens shapes and wonderful customer service. kudos to guido for his friendly engagement and his savvy on what was needed for a truly custom fit on my kata rimless glasses. also, granted, that their prices are a little steep, but it is worth every penny for frames that would become an extension of your skin. anyone who is interested in getting one of kind frames should visit rims and goggles. i cannot stop singing their praises loudly enough and this is for someone who does not like wearing glasses. highly, highly recommended! teo read more

I originally bought my eyeglasses here and the service was great, informative, etc. Of course I paid almost $600 for my eyeglasses, so I would hope that the customer service would be good! Unfortunately, I just returned to see if I could get a replacement case for my super expensive eyeglasses (the case was falling apart and had been that way since about a month after buying the glasses). I was told that I would have to pay $10 for a new case! For a second I started to reach for my purse, but then I realized how REDICULOUS this up charge was! I told the woman: "you mean to say that after spending over $500 on a pair of glasses, you are going to charge me $10 for a replacement case?". I was matter-of-factly told yes. I would rather go somewhere else and give them money for a case if that's what I have to do, because this place isn't getting any more of my business. I'm sure that case only cost about $1 to make, so to nickel and dime me for that is super bad customer service, and I don't appreciate it. read more

I have spent several Thousand dollars at Rims & Goggles over the last ~4 years years. One of $1000 pair of glasses I purchased a few years ago broke in June and they repaired it at a cost of $61 + tax. Well it just broke again at the site of the repair and when I asked them to have it fixed at no charge I was told that the repair place only warranted their work for 30 days. I wasn't advised about this when I initially had the repair done, but in any case one might think that the retailer would stand behind the product. Obviously that's not the case, so I assume that any issue with their products just gets deferred to others. Rims and Goggles is a high end optician and charges accordingly. That's fine in my book if they stand behind their products. I will take my future business to an optician I can trust. read more

This place is a rip off. I have used them years ago when the owner was fabulous. The current owner charges an outrageous amount with poor service. I spent over $1000 and they did not tell me how expensive the frames and all the extras would cost until I picked up the glasses! read more

believe the hype! this place is great. i went in last week to pick out a new pair of frames after reading the great reviews from fellow yelpers. i was greeted and helped by Gina. she helped hone in on what type of frame i was looking for and promptly brought me many pairs to try on. she was great to give me feedback about what colors and style looked best with my face shape, coloring, etc., which i greatly appreciated. i found the perfect pair, but, alas, Rims & Goggles does not accept my insurance (VSP). sigh. Gina was understanding and made a note of the frame that i liked, telling me, if i couldn't find another frame within my network, i could purchase the frame from them and get the lenses put in by a provider. i'm still searching for the frame within my network, but i know my backup is Rims & Goggles. the frames were all different price ranges... the one i found was made by R&G and was $250. others i tried on were up to $400, which would definitely be too much if i were paying out of pocket. read more

After 11 long ho hum years, took a chance on Rims and Goggles to replace my safe but ancient no-nonsense eyeglasses. After a brief five minutes, my significant other spotted a sleek modern black, wood armed frame that looked alarmingly smart on my petite angular face. Wha??! C'est moi? I am a new fan of R&G in Mill Valley. I usually have no luck finding a pair of glasses that I like but I found more than a few that I love at R&G. Gina is superb. She is very patient - I must have tried on at least a hundred pairs if not more. She was so supportive, respectful and and hung in there all the way. I love that she never gave up and she was determined to help me through the process. I ended up with 2 pairs of glasses that I absolutely love - they are stylish and functional. I never had pairs of glasses I love so much before. Guido - he is the excellent technician and artist who made sure that the glasses fit me perfectly. I had a nice interaction with Kathleen (sp?) too. This is a very high-end store, with a very professional group of opticians. I can't wait to return when I am ready for the next pair. My daughter and husband wear prescription eyeglasses, and this is the ONLY place we ever go. They have the best selection for kids and adults, all of the employees are skilled at helping customers pick the right frame for their faces, and they have always been honest and helpful. We regularly go in for adjustments and the occasional repair, and we are always treated with friendliness and helpfulness. Sometimes one of the employees gives the impression of aloofness, but he's actually pretty friendly and helpful in the end. I tell all our friends about Rims & Goggles and will continue to go there (now I need glasses too!) for years to come. read more

I went into Rims and Goggles to pick out my first pair of multifocal lenses. The staff was very unhelpful when it came to answering my questions about progressive lenses. Incompetent, rude, and tried to brush me off. If you are going in to get basic glasses they MIGHT be able to help you, but if you are new to multifocals you should go to another place... read more

I had a very unprofessional and bizarre experience here. I typically go to the city, but wanted to try something local. I went to have some high index lenses replaced, when I went to pick them up they were not the thickness that I ordered. Rather than apologizing for the mistake, they called it a misunderstanding and said I needed to pay $100.00 more and reorder and wait for the lenses I originally ordered. As a small business owner, I would never place the problem back onto the client. The manager did not see this as their mistake, but out of "good faith" offered me 20% off. When I told her this was unacceptable she had the tech put my old lenses back in, which were clearly more scratched up from the handling of taking them in and out. She then gave me a refund. I emailed the owner, who was unavailable by phone, to discuss the issue. Rather than listening to my experience, she emailed me back after speaking with the manager. She declined that a mistake was made on their end and sent a rather attacking email. It seems they must be treating other customers this way because the store appeared to be empty both times I went. For those of you looking for high quality product and service, I would make the journey to the city. Save yourself some time and frustration in the long run. read more

My experience at the start was great..of course I spent about $2000.00. From there it went downhill. Total amount of time working with this group was from September 10th and ended on November 20th when I walked out with a pair of frames and NO lenses. Apparently, my eyes ended up not being the easiest to work with. At no time did I hear anything but "we will make this right. In the end they wanted over $800.00 for the next pair of lenses after a number had failed to be correct. They blamed the doctor and the doctor said apparently their expertise had something to be desired. I followed the rules written on the agreement but nowhere did it say a limited number of tries on the lenses. Their professionalism was short of anything professional. Hard to get return phone calls and funny as it seems...little eye contact when I obviously became a difficult customer to satisfy.I felt their frustration but I think the phrase...the customer comes first...clearly absent. Too much competition out there....I'd try to avoid this group and search out honest people that will LOOK YOU IN THE EYE ! read more
