So far so good: have used Rim's One Hour Cleaners for standard dry cleaning (mostly business suits and formal dresses) for a year or so now with no complaints. Pricing seems on par with the rest of the neighborhood dry cleaners. read more

They take credit card and have a pretty organized system where your phone number is matched up to your clothing. Everything came out pretty clean and the presentation is good. Prices are pretty fair, around $2 a shirt and $5 for pants. Also convenient that they have a UPS access point here. Good location. read more

I'm not sure where to start with this one, outside of Rim's One Hour cleaners being both the best cleaners and alterations spot I've found in Philly. In fact, as a lady who has also lived in Miami, LA, and NYC; I'd say it's the best cleaners I've been to, period. Let me begin with an example. I recently had a dress, that was too big, that required an advanced alteration. I went to multi places ranked as past winner's of "philly's best" for tailoring/alternation, only to be told what I wanted was not possible, or to be quoted outrageous prices. Well, I went to Rim's; and let me tell you, the job done was SO AMAZING, that I've been stopped multiple times wearing this dress to be complimented on the fit. At this point, this is the only place in Philly I'm letting touch my alterations. I should mention, the cost of services was SO REASONABLE. Oh and I should mention the owner is truly so kind and the turnaround on alternations so really so speedy (dropped off on Tuesday, got back on Saturday, pressed and altered). Great Dry Cleaners and Fast Reliable service. I was in Philly for a wedding and needed my tux pressed that afternoon. Another groomsmen also needed it done. I had called earlier in the week to see if it could be done and Jake, the owner, said of course and remembered when I showed up later that week. I was able to get both tuxes/shirts pressed within a couple of hours and ready for the ceremony. I will be back in October for another wedding and will be getting my tux pressed here again! Very good dry cleaners. To be frank I go here mostly because of the people. The main young lady. whose name I really should know, is magnificent! Love her. As to the rest...it's OK. As a dry cleaner they are very OK, have issues with broken buttons on our shirts, to which the owner has told me it's cheap buttons. Which didn't go over too well with the BF. He buys very good quality only. Alterations-fine. Not much to say. Again, the owner, who is such a charmer at times, told me I shouldn't get my pants (very expensive pants BTW) let out, but just get a new pair. Watch and shoe repair guy is fine, a lot cranky, but otherwise cheap and he does do a fine job. read more

I still walk the extra block to go to Rim's. They do good alterations and can put secret pockets anywhere you want. I know that sounds weird but I think pockets are underrated. Let's just say I always have change for the meter. Good turnaround and pretty standard prices. There's a guy there, I think it's his dad, who can resole your shoe and change your watch battery. Good at getting out the stains. Really friendly service. Only three stars - even though I still go there? Here's why: they write your name on your shirt. Yeah. Look at the inside under the last button and you'll see your last name. I feel like I'm at camp. I noticed it on a new shirt and yup, it's on all of them. I don't really care and it's already done. But I still don't think a dry cleaner should be doing that. Incidentally, their cleaning process likely does not remove permanent marker. Also, closed on Sundays. I know that's standard but I don't have to like it. read more

I'm not impressed. I've been there one time in an attempt to use Rim's as my local dry cleaner when we moved to the westside of graduate hospital neighborhood. The customer service was bad (not attentive as I had to call them over to drop off clothes) and it was more expensive than other dry cleaners in the area. Moreover, the place is only open until six--unfortunately I have to leave early from work to make it before close. So I went to pick up my clothes and one of my shirts had a hole in the belly area. I wish that I had seen it upon pick-up. The big turn-off for me was that the women working the register would not let me pay with a credit card by telling me it was not working well. The owner/manager stood 5 feet behind her and didn't say/affirm anything. I just found it disingenuous and believe that I should patronize a more deserving local business. Maybe this place is full of itself because of its location relative to Rittenhouse, etc. No matter, I won't be going again. read more

Dry cleaned my comforter. Pretty good job, but it smelled kind of odd (maybe just the dry cleaning chemicals) and didn't really get any stains out. Otherwise it was clean though! read more

After living in the neighborhood for 4 years I finally gave this place a try. I dropped off a pair of pants to get hemmed for a wedding. They were pretty quick and they came out perfect and not bad at only $10. Will def be returning. read more

Customer Service is awful. Complained to me about not being able to meet their posted hours. The woman said, "It is difficult to make it to the city at that time. We have to wake up early, and the traffic is not easy to navigate." Here's a brilliant idea. Don't say you open at 7am. Problem solved. Can't fix stupid. read more

Excellent dry cleaners. Staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, things get done on time. Never had a problem. They also do fine alterations. Our family's had several things changed and the work is great and fast. There is also a keysmith on the premises. Not fancy. read more

My dry cleaners! I've tried other places only to get pi##ed of when they doe something stupid. Like lose my shirts or change charges on something or once again lose something for months and try to tell me that I must have picked them up and forgot. Bad dry cleaner, bad. The staff at Rim's is always pleasant and will get your items back to you as quickly as possible. In my mind it is a bit more expensive than other places, but well worth it. They do as Steve L. mentions put your name on the shirt, which I like because my parents never sent me to summer camp. The BF hates it though. Mostly because it is my name that gets inked on (I'm in charge of dropping off the stuff), but it does put me in control of all his things when he dumps my ass. read more

This review is for a dress alteration experience, not for any of Rim's other services. I had just bought a floor length dress that was 5 inches too long. The skirt of the dress consisted of 6 ruffles/panels that gradually increased in length from top to bottom - so the top or 1st ruffle is @ 3", the 2nd (5"), the 3rd (7") and so on until the last ruffle is about 13". So you couldn't just shorten the dress from the bottom up because it would cause the last ruffle to look oddly short. So I took the dress into Rim's and spoke with the front desk lady who speaks English fluently and the seamstress who speaks minimal English. I told the ladies whether they could remove the first ruffle and shorten the 2nd. They did not want to do that because the first 2 ruffles are attached to the zipper making the project too difficult. So I settled with removing the 3rd ruffle (it was 1cm from the zipper) even though this was going to be an additional 2" shorter than what I wanted. Since this project was a bit complex, I was a little worried that the seamstress didn't quite understand what was going on. So I wanted to confirm w/ her by holding up 3 fingers and tugging at the 3rd ruffle. She then mimicked me, grabbed the 3rd ruffle, and said "yes, this, out". I felt reassured. The front desk lady then gave me a receipt with a charge of $40 for removing this ruffle. Rim's called me in a few days later to try on the dress. I put it on and the ruffles looked so odd that I knew immediately the wrong ruffle was removed. The seamstress took out the 4th (9" ruffle) instead of the 3rd (7" ruffle). But the front desk lady who helped me wasn't there - only the owner and the seamstress. I explained to the owner that the seamstress took out the wrong ruffle but he disagreed and we proceeded to have a long argument about how Rim's didn't do anything wrong. It turned out that the seamstress discovered that the 3rd ruffle was still too close to the zipper so she decided to take out the 4th ruffle instead. I told the owner that this was not OK because all the ruffles have different lengths so she can't just pick another one. Still, we continued to argue for an hour and the owner settled with fixing the alteration for an extra $10 making the total $50. Aside from the frustration of having to explain myself several times to 3 different people, what really irks me is that the owner wasn't even there when the alteration was discussed and yet, he was the one I had to deal with in the aftermath and he felt like he had the right to tell me I was wrong and increased the price at his discretion. I live half a block from this place and am saddened that a local business in a great neighborhood is run by such an unreasonable and dishonest owner. read more

The two times I've been to Rim's were extremely frustrating and disappointing. I wanted to have two pairs of pants hemmed to an ankle length, and the saleswoman (not the tailor, who was gone for two weeks) argued with me for 15 minutes after I tried them on in the shop about how what I wanted was too short. I eventually agreed to a longer length just to get out of there, but I feel like that should have been my choice/mistake to make with my clothes. The second time, I brought in a wool coat for dry cleaning, but that same saleswoman refused because there was a leather trim. Nevermind that the label read "dry clean only", because she said that the last time they cleaned something with a leather trim, it became "crispy". I suppose I'm glad that my coat won't be damaged, but isn't cleaning mildly difficult garments the entire point of a dry cleaners? How the hell am I supposed to clean it now? It just seems like they don't want to do any work that requires more effort than a standard dry clean. As posh and expensive as the neighborhood is, you would think they'd be prepared to handle fabrics beyond polyester and cotton. read more

I've been going to Rim's Cleaners for years - for various tailoring and dry cleaning needs. They are REALLY nice, and always meet the deadlines they give you. They are really flexible, really kind, and very helpful. The hours are great, the quality of service is always pretty darn great. The only problem I really have with them - is that they don't think that they are organic. Which is bad for the environment. Other than that, great place! read more

I always have a hard time finding a great dry cleaner with decent pricing but I think that Rim's may have just solved the problem. I dropped off a silk shirt and a dress to the cleaners a few weeks ago and the clothes came out great! The dress was stained from my detergent and I was worried that they wouldn't come out. The man at the counter said that he would try his hardest and he definitely did a great job! The stains came out and the dress looks great! In total both items were $15 and all done within a reasonable time! The owner is extremely helpful but I wish that the girls behind the counter knew a little more instead of always calling him over. Overall it's a great neighborhood spot and I will definitely use them again! read more

I absolutely love the staff and have always had great service, but decided to use the cleaner on 20th and south instead after the third time my work shirts came back smelling of mildew. It seems the laundry occasionally gets left out too long before pressing. Everything seems fine until you are sitting in a meeting, getting a little warm under your jacket, and then realizing that you smell like an old dish rag. I know that they send the shirts out, and they were always great about re-cleaning without charge, but I just couldn't overlook it after the third time it happened. On the plus side, they were always prompt, never lost a garment, and were always very professional. read more

Had a dress taken in. I have a sewing machine but I wanted it professionally done in a way that would last. I don't have a surger which is what's used to reenforce the seams in the inside of garments. This woman hemmed the bottom of my dress properly and just put a line down the sides taking them in. It's not professional and won't last. I was told she didn't charge me the full amount that it would normally be more. I never asked for a discount I just wanted the dress taken in properly. I could have done what she did for nothing. Very abrasive and borderline rude. Lied about what was done and when I pointed it out I was told to just come back tomorrow they don't know what she did. Save your money and time and just don't use this cleaners or tailor. I was dropping off a suit to be pressed and decided to take it elsewhere after this experience. read more

I have learned a good dry cleaner is pretty essential. Everything accepted is cleaned above and beyond my expectation. The wonderful secret is the repair/tailor services. Getting my Gortex jacket zipper repaired and then eventually (10 years later) replaced - saved me so much money! The staff will not take advantage either.... for example, after losing weight I tried to have a fancy silk dress altered for a wedding - and the staff was honest enough to tell me it was not worth the cost. She sent me to the consignment shop across the street and it sold for a nice price. Thanks, and I am glad you are in my neighborhood! read more

THEY LOST SIX OF MY SWEATERS AND MADE NO ATTEMPT TO APOLOGIZE OR REIMBURSE. I took in a large load of sweaters after finding moths in my apartment. When I got home and began to sort through them, I realized several were missing and called immediately. They initially told me that they had thrown some of them away (without calling me or asking!) because they felt the moth damage was too bad. Seems to me, as a business, they should never throw their paying customer's items away without at least contacting the customer first. I doubted it was true at the time--either way, it's an indication of some pretty poor customer service. Their behavior surrounding this situation was incredibly disappointing. Because their tracking record was subpar, and because I had brought in such a large load of sweaters to begin with, there was little way I could prove the loss. I even offered to bring in photographs of the sweaters so that they could at least know, visually, what they were looking for. They told me there was nothing they could do. The didn't even offer a credit. All in all, strangely, the most expensive items I brought in--two Mark Jacob's sweaters, and an alpaca sweater--were amongst the missing pieces. I have no idea what could have happened to any of the missing clothes--they apparently do their cleaning on site. Perhaps they were thrown away? Perhaps they were stolen? Either way, this business made not even the slightest effort to be helpful, to reimburse me or offer a credit, or to help me find the missing items. Overall, I'd estimate they lost over $1,000 worth of my clothing. read more

I've taken all kinds of things to this cleaner for over 30 years. They also repair shoes. The shoe guy always my shoes look new again. He has fixed so many of my favorite shoes it is impressive. Also I have had a lot of garments professionally altered there. read more

Rim's is great for all of the minor alterations that a shorter person needs. $10 for pants. Just bring the pants in with a pair of shoes that are the right height. Rim's has a little changing room and the nice staff will pin the hem exactly where you want it. All of the pants that I had had hemmed, from jeans to trousers, have been perfectly stitched. The dry cleaning service never disappoints (silk dresses, wool pants, sweaters, etc). The cobbler is great, too. He re-soles and shines shoes to an almost new state. read more

Very disappointing experience. I took an expensive pair of pants here for dry-cleaning. When I picked up the pants and brought them home, I noticed that they were not mine, but a cheap pair of pants with my expensive label sewn in instead. They were clearly switched! I was told that it must have been a mistake. I would not trust them with quality clothing. read more

Had several shirts laundered here last week. When I went to pick up, I found a few shirts were cleaned quite well, while my dress shirts with French cuffs were still quite dirty, particularly around the collar and cuff folds. I asked them if dry cleaning the shirts would remove the dirt better, and the man behind the counter told me that it wouldn't really make much difference and that dry cleaning is 3x more expensive than laundering. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of his own business. If neither dry cleaning nor laundering gets the dirt off my shirts, what exactly am I paying you for? read more

I moved into the area recently and I had a lot of dry cleaning that needed to be done, so I took half of my clothes here, the other half to Master Tailor and Cleaning, as a way to test both places out. I should have taken all my clothes to Master Tailor's. Upon return, ALL of my clothes smell like mildew and piss. It's so bad that I don't want to hang any of the items in my closet, so they're sitting "airing out" in the living room. If I wanted my clothes to smell like crap, I wouldn't have bothered paying to have them cleaned. One part of me wants to go back and complain and ask for a redo, but really, what's the point? I'll just have to take febreeze to what I can and re-clean the rest somewhere else. read more

Been taking my dry cleaning and shirts to Rim's for years. They have always taken care of things very well. On the few occasions when things were damaged, Jake stepped up and replaced the item without question. They are very good for hems and cuffs. I walk two blocks further than I need to because I know everything will be done when they say it will be and it will be done right - great service!!! read more

I will never return! Terrible culture of "no." I moved from the Northern Liberties to the South Street area recently and I hoped I found a decent dry cleaner. I went one time and I asked to have shirts only pressed as they were laundered, and the woman behind the counter raised her voice and scolded me for not having them dry cleaned because it's cheaper than only pressing and every small repair I asked for I met with resistance. I went today to have items with small mending jobs done and met the same resistance at every request. It's Tuesday morning and I can't have a pair of jeans patched by Friday morning? I have a sweater that I had repaired at my old dry cleaners without argument and I am told there's nothing that can be done? Horrible, horrible service. I am so confused how people continue to go there. I will steer any of my neighbors or recent area transplants away from here. read more
