I have dropped off several high-end shoes here (Ferragamo, Gucci, etc) that had been worn and in need of polish, sole replacement, and general maintenance. First and foremost, the owners are extremely friendly and easy to work with. I also feel for the pricing I got tremendous value. The work done was high quality and my shoes came out looking better than ever. In one instance the sole had come completely detached from my shoe and was damaged due to salt. I had Rinaldi's add a red cuff to my boots and they did a terrific job. I feel terrible their location has been under construction for sooooo long . It is an extra step ,you have to call them in the lobby , but they come immediately and it is totally worth it. I have used them many times before as has my BF and they always do a great job. Dropped off 2 dress shoes here. 1 of them was getting the heel replaced and wanted to add heel/toe plates to both. When I went to pick up the shoes, they asked me "1 shoe right?" When I told them no, it should be 2 shoes, they returned. Neither had toe plates and one didn't have heel plates either. The one that did have heel plates was not on securely (it was missing half the nails). I was also told they had run out of toe plates so weren't able to add that. I had a pair of winter boots with a bad zipper on one and I didn't want to toss them as I was quite fond of them. Zipper repairs are quite pricey as it's a labor intensive process to remove and insert the zipper. I eventually decided on Rinaldis as they were able to replace my boot zippers for $40 (the price of your service needs may vary depending zipper size). I'd originally shopped around and was quoted nearly twice the price at other repair stores so I was quite happy to find a deal here. I had a little trouble locating Rinaldis at first as their storefront is only accessible through an indoor area. They're located ground level inside an indoor arcade/corridor lined with various restaurants and vendors. The arcade was very quiet when I went on a weekend afternoon. I was helped by the same friendly lady (Cindy) both during my shoe drop off and pickup one week apart. read more

They took about 2.5 weeks to polish/touch up my shoes, used the wrong polish (dark black when the boots were mahogany brown). Two completely different colors they look ridiculous. I have gotten one pair of Louboutins soles redone and one pair of designer sneakers cleaned and brought back to life at Rinaldis. I wish I took before and after pictures of both because they came out beautifully. I was seriously extremely impressed with how both items came out and will continue to come here for all of my shoe repairs. The pricing was also very good. My louboutins were $50 for new red mirror soles and the sneakers were $30. Both items took a little over a week. What a great shoe repair shop! I stopped by with 3 pairs of leather dress shoes with 3 different problems: 1. Tear in leather near the laces 2. Rubber soles coming off the shoe 3. Winter/snow/salt took its toll and shoes looked worn out If I may quote a review I remember from earlier..."Rinaldi's breathed new life into my shoes" and for only $37! 1. The leather tear is mysteriously gone 2. The rubber soles are glued back on very solidly 3. My winterized shoes look as close to brand new as ever! I got to know Rinaldi's the first time when my traveling-the-world boots needed repairs but my local shoes repairers in Braintree couldn't take the job: replacing the outsoles and heels, and stitched up 3 torn areas. The owner took the job and I was very happy with his work.  A year later I brought back the same pair of boots: 3 more areas needed stitching up. This time Rinaldi Jr. took the job. I was floored with awe when I saw my boots: all 3 areas were solidly stitched up, but the most amazing thing were beyond those. My favorite boots have traveled the world with me. I first bought them like 12+ years ago and have explored the streets, hiked the trails / mountains, rode the horses in over 30 countries. The boots entire toe box, toe cap, vamp were severely cracked.  I don't know what magical process Rinaldi Jr. has used, but both toe boxes look better than brand new. All the cracks were gone. The shine reminded me of the best condition I could ever had for my dancing shoes. To top it off, Rinaldi Jr. did this without even asking me and didn't charge me for it.  Rinaldi's Shoe Repair definitely has earned my respect and my trust. I almost look forward to the times I need to bring a pair of shoes here, just for the boundless validation of mine and my other's taste in shoes... I secretly like to believe the owner keeps a running list of shoes of ours, because he always recognizes them and treats them like old friends when we bring them back, and seems genuinely almost as excited over any new ones as we are. This time I shamefacedly turned over brand-spanking-new Jarvis loafers ruined in last week's downpour. Today I am happy to say they are practically none the worse for the swim, and will be perfect after having been worn a few times (they look almost *too* new now - pre-submersion, the surface was a little cracked, and post-reconditioning it's flawless, of course - for $15 total). I was expecting a scolding upon relinquishment, and got one, and at pickup was called by name and firmly told to keep the Monkey out of the Duck Pond... this is the first time he's remembered our names to my face, but this is how I know he means it and is not just being a pushy nit reading the credit card receipts. (Yes, that is a peeve of mine! ...) Other things they've done for me: sewn my favorite (long-dead, but prior to that even longer-suffering) boots back together so often they were probably more thread than suede by the end, extending their lifespan for almost an entire decade, replaced cracking double leather skinny straps on a pair of platform ballet shoes and touched up the ponyhair on my devil's hoof boots so I could sell them both on ebay for more than I originally paid, and continuously kept my most-cherished Pradas looking so pristine women still stop and lean over sideways to get a good look at them - for 8 years and counting! These guys are hacks! Do NOT bring any expensive shoes here-- brought my wedding Louboutins here-- I wore them once before. They completely destroyed them. They had a nick on the heel the, the guy used YELLOW glue to fix a BEIGE shoe! When I told him it was yellow he used his nail to scrape at it, completely uncovering the nick!! He then disappeared in the basement only to emerge with a spray painted YELLOW heel. I wish I was making this up!! And wouldn't even honor a refund. I will never be back-- and as promised to the owner here is my review! You could have just refunded me my money and I would have left happier. read more

The heels on my favorite pair of boots were worn down so I took them to Rinaldi's for repair after a coworker recommended the service here (she'd had the soles replaced on a pair of leather boots, and they literally looked like new). I took my boots in on a Monday, and I thought the woman at the register said it'd be one day (and based on the reviews on here, it seemed like a simple repair like that would be pretty quick). I went back on Tuesday and the woman said it would be another day. It's entirely possible that she said "Wednesday" instead of "one day," but the Tuesday box was also checked off on my receipt... confusing. At any rate, when I got the boots back on Wednesday the heels were once again even, which was great, though I admit that the workmanship wasn't quite as seamless as I expected or would have liked. While it isn't super-obvious, you can definitely tell where the old part of the boot ends and the replacement tip begins. Also, the charge for replacing the heel was $25, which seems like it's more than other reviewers said they paid (maybe mine were more because they were thicker boot heels? But my coworker also said that she only paid $30 to have the whole sole replaced, which makes my fee feel pretty steep). While I wouldn't go so far as to not recommend Rinaldi's (again, they worked magic on my friend's boots... my experience seems like it's in the minority based on other reviews), I do plan to check out other cobblers for future repairs and see how the experiences stack up. read more

I was also quoted one price for a pair of boots ($30) and when I returned, a different woman told me the price was now $40. No apology for the confusion just a blank stare. I brought in a few pairs of shoes that needed repairing- a blue suede pair of Prada heels that had water/ salt damage from wearing in winter, a pair of Jimmy Choo boots that had a few years of wear and tear and a pair of Valentino Rockstud shoes that I had torn the heel on. All 3 repairs exceeded expectations and for such a reasonable price and quick turnaround! I also brought in 2 pairs of Christian Louboutin's that had never been worn to put a rubber, protective sole on- I am beyond pleased with how well they match and how seamless the application was and looks. I brought 3 pairs of shoes here. 1 pair to get the elastics removed (Tory Burch Revas - for how expensive these shoes are, the comfort level does NOT match up. They will be my first and last pair). And the other 2 pair to have the heels restored. I was charged about $10 (can't remember exactly but it was no more than $10) for the elastic removal. They were ready for me the next day. They fit like a dream and were actually comfortable! They did a great job, you couldn't tell that anything had been removed. The patched it up very nicely. I was impressed. For my heels, I was charged $15 a pair. I consider that a reasonable price. They were ready for me 2 hours after I dropped them off. Amazing, right?! And they were totally transformed. This is the best shoe repair I've found in Boston. Although pricey, they do great work and quite quickly. I've taken at least 7 pairs of shoes to be re-soled and they've done a great job. They have a huge selection of soles to choose from (whether rubber or leather) including a wide selection of Vibram rubber soles which I've used for several boots. They are closed on Saturdays in the summer which is a bit inconvenient but I definitely recommend them for any shoe repair needs you may have. read more

To be honest, I had no idea there was anything in this building other than office space - but, there's a little shopping center filled with places like Rinaldi's.... ...they did quite a good job on a favored pair of loafers that I have. (Yes, I said the word "loafers.") That was to be expected - what was unexpected was the hell of a job they did on a leather duffel pack I have. Re-enforced the seams around the straps, and put in a new zipper. Both jobs came to $30. Not bad, really. read more

I originally heard of Rinaldi's from a salesman at Nieman Marcus when I mentioned I had a pair of shoes that needed some major surgery. I took 2 pair of shoes, a pair of brown leather Loeffler Randall booties and a pair of Christian Louboutins heels. Both pair needed help on the soles and the heels on the Louboutins were a mess (I thought there was no coming back for them). 3 days and $90 later, both pair look almost brand new! I have a boys had a really good experience bringing my shoes here. Nice shoes are so expensive, to make it worthwhile to purchase them you have to get at least three or four seasons out of them which means you have to take great care of them. I take my nice shoes here to get rubber put on the bottom so that the sole last longer, and I have any damage fixed here as well. I think he does an excellent job. read more

Just picked up a pair of boots and they look FANTASTIC! $20 and I have new heel bottoms (one of them had literally popped off) as well as shiny cleaned-up boots. I got them years ago but love them, so it was worth it to repair them instead of spending at least four times that much on a new pair. Rinaldi's rescued me from a Burberry-induced nightmare, so I think it's safe to say I'm going to recommend this place to everyone and their mother. I had a gorgeous tote bag with a patent leather handle (hello, morons- a thin patent leather strap might as well have been a freakin' twizzler) that had already broken once. Burberry charged me 50 bucks to fix it and within a couple of months it had broken again. It was in my closet for months. Flash forward and I realized that this is the only bag that will fit my laptop and my drawing tablet, which, as a textile designer, I take everywhere with me. Before my last trip, I searched desperately for a comparable bag where nothing would be sticking out (stupid messenger bag), but to no avail. So, I decided to make one last ditch effort to salvage the tote without having to go back to Burberry and let them rip me off AGAIN. When I went to Rinaldi's, not only were they confident they could fix it, they gave me several options- a less expensive option and a more expensive, but obviously better option that Burberry would never have offered. Rather than repair the old handle, I opted to purchase a leather belt at nearby Marshall's (real leather, which cost me 12 bucks on clearance), and they cut it and affixed it to the bag. Not only did it look like that was the way I bought it, but before they even did it, they took very careful measurements to make sure I would be happy with the length. AND they expedited it for me! I was thrilled. The work is beautiful and very high quality. Altogether, it STILL cost me less than a "repaired" old handle from Burberry. I can't wait to bring in my shoes (and there are A LOT of those. I have a problem of Imelda Marcos proportions. I'm probably their new best customer). read more

I wouldn't have ventured into the Park Square Building, past the manned security desk, if Camper hadn't sent me. The old Boston building had pretentious gilded scrollwork and friezes inside the double height lobby and along the first floor concourse that creeped me out. Or maybe the strange mix of shops reminded me slightly of Harry Potter's Diagon Alley for wizarding supplies, where you hoped you could remember how to get out before some mischievous young wizard tried out their new wand on you. The quarter-sized blister on my left heel had just healed from this fall's debut of my Camper Spirals 46098, and I wanted someone to stretch the culprit (the left boot) to prevent a long torturous wearing in period. I am a firm believer in not suffering for fashion. With a name like Rinaldi's, you walk in to the teeny shop wanting to love the place, and I can safely say that I did, although my simple request might not have been much of a test. I presented the woman behind the counter with my plainly beautiful brown leather left boot. She held it respectfully, for which I was grateful, since that one boot cost me about $106, and that was only after I'd gone back to Camper's a week later to get the price reduction. I wanted to tell her the whole story behind buying them (because there's always a story, isn't there?): how I had plunked down my hard-earned cash after a long search for boots that fit my narrow calves, and my love of rubber soles, and that I had considered them perfect until my first blister last winter, which I'd completely forgotten about until putting them on last week. But luckily for her, I didn't. A man whom I'll presume was Mr. Rinaldi came up some stairs from a lower level workshop, and made a few expert observations: that he would only stretch the heel leather a little bit since it would stretch eventually with normal wear; that it would fit better now if I just put in thinner insoles (which I didn't want to do); that he could do it for $10, which I gathered was $5 off the regular price. Maybe because it was only one boot? I've worn the boots once since and am completely happy with Rinaldi's work. The left heel now fits perfectly. Unfortunately, this correction has highlighted the fact that the right toebox is a little narrow, even though it's rounded, leaving my poor fourth toe chafed and close to blistered. I will have to test the boots a few more times to decide if I need to have the right one stretched. If I do, I know where to go. read more

I can't really comment on prices, because this is the first time I've had a pair of shoes repaired, but Rinaldi's repaired the destroyed heels of a fancy pair of boots and shined them for about $20. I got the boots cheap cheap, so the price for repair was worth it - the boots looked fresh out of the box when I picked them up. read more

Rinaldi's pricing isn't terrible - for example, it's $15 to fix a pair of pumps where the heels have worn off. The great advantage is that they truly do a wonderful job. I had a pair of boots I brought in just to have the heel fixed, and they shined and fixed up the toes of them for free and now they look new!! read more

There is not much to say. I brought in my shoes, which looked like something that should have been thrown out three years ago, and when I got them back they looked amazing. They even felt better than when the shoes were new. Where they perfect, no, but I it was very impressive and worth every cent. It is not expensive and the turn around was quick.
