Vaticano came through once again with a flawless, absolutely perfect dining experience. From the…read moreappetizers through to dessert, everything was wonderful. Francesca was our Server, and while the restaurant was a bit shortstaffed, Francesca worked hard to make sure our cups were never empty, that we had what we needed, that everything was going well. This restaurant can be intimate and romantic, as it was for us tonight, and it can be lighthearted and fun for the younger crowd, especially on the beautiful patio overlooking the mighty Niagara River or at the very well stocked bar. Their wine list is more than adequate for patrons with discerning palates. Tonight I went with a Bloody Caesar, which was rimmed with celery salt around the top of the glass and came with two cold marinated green beans with a hefty spice kick. The bread comes with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and also their spicy oil which is magnificently aggressive. Check out the photos and the captions for more details on their offerings. We will, of course, continue to come back.

Our server, Francesca, was the only server working that entire night. After talking with her, it sounds like this has become a regular occurrence rather than a one time issue. She worked incredibly hard, stayed positive, and did everything she could to keep customers happy despite being put in an impossible situation. None of the issues we experienced were her fault. The restaurant appeared to be operating with only two employees total, one server and one cook. For a restaurant of this size, that simply is not enough staff to provide a reasonable dining experience. Our food took nearly two hours to arrive, and it was obvious the employees were overwhelmed and doing the best they could with the resources they had. To make matters worse, both toilets in the restaurant were broken during our visit. Between the staffing shortages and maintenance issues, it gave the impression that ownership is either unwilling or unable to invest the money necessary to properly operate the business. The owner needs to hire more staff and address these problems before they drive away loyal customers. It was genuinely sad to watch Francesca work so hard trying to keep everyone satisfied while carrying the entire front of house by herself. She deserves credit for keeping things together as well as she did under those circumstances. Owner, you need to hire more staff. Watching Francesca run the entire dining room by herself while also trying to manage frustrated customers was tough to see. She was friendly, professional, and worked extremely hard all night. Unfortunately, there is only so much one person can do when they are set up to fail from the start.

While eating dinner the "new" owner stopped by our table to ask how our meal was. At that point we were working on our apps. Crab cakes and French onion soup. Crab cakes were soggy and the Onion soup was extremely salty. He then proceeded to explain that he owns a restaurant in Grimsby (I think) and how that place is ALWAYS full and how phenomenal the food is there. Going on to say that if we "come back next week this place will be completely changed. All new menu" etc. he explained he was planning to turn the Bank Bistro into a "high end Italian restaurant. Steak, seafood, pasta" etc. We explained that we would not be back as we were only in town visiting friends and did not live in the area. My partner ordered the NY strip steak and crab, which came with fries and steamed veggies. I ordered the fish with roasted "Mediterranean" potatoes and steamed veggies. Our food came out in a fairly reasonable amount of time. (We were there on a weekday around 7 pm. There were 2 other tables already seated and eating when we arrived). Here is where things go downhill FAST! The steak- like a used discarded boot, the French fries - not even cooked the whole way through. The "Mediterranean" roasted potatoes- had a strange taste of curry powder on them. And the steamed veggies on BORH plates were a bag of baby carrots-steamed. LITERALLY!! Not even cut up or seasoned with any butter, herbs etc. They were just thrown on the plate. One would think with how "proud" the new owner was about his restaurants that he could SEE that this is nowhere near "high end". The entire time we were eating our food I kept thinking to myself - it's pretty hard to screw up French fries, and if this is the "quality" of food this new owner thinks they are going to serve- it won't last a month. With so few options for decent food in FE, it's so sad to see how this place has declined. For the sake of the community, we do hope they can turn this around. However judging by our recent meal, we're not holding our breath. Such a shame.

Went with a group of 8 and the Kitchen was super slow - took over an hour to get food. Some dishes were good (Chicken Marsala & the Buffalo Chicken Penne), some were OK - fish and chips & steak oscar. A couple of the meals were horrible - One person got the stuffed haddock and it was completely inedible. It was a curled piece of rubber floating in a sauce - could pick it up with a fork and wave it around - literally. Sent that back immediately. Another had the salmon - it was overcooked and when they got a few bites into it, it tasted and smelled rancid to the point that it was spit out and a couple of other salmon lovers tried it and all agreed it was a spoiled piece of fish. Told the server. No manager came to talk to us at all and when the bill came, they did take the haddock meal off but only took half the salmon meal off. After expressing that it wasn't right to charge for spoiled food, they did take it off the bill too. It was a very disappointing dining experience overall given how much we loved this place in the past.

The homemade pasta was outstanding, especially the rich, flavorful Bolognese. The garlic cheese bread was to die for, and the chicken parmesan was perfectly prepared. For dessert, we enjoyed cannoli, tiramisu, and the flourless chocolate almond cake topped with raspberry sauce and fresh raspberries. Every bite was incredible. We also tried their featured Sauvignon Blanc and house-made sangria, both of which were excellent. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and perfect for a special celebration. What made the evening more memorable was the thoughtful service. The staff recognized my birthday and surprised me with a complimentary glass of champagne and tiramisu, which was such a kind and unexpected touch. From the amazing food to the exceptional hospitality, Roseland Atlas made my birthday truly special. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine and a wonderful dining experience We will definately be back!

The dishes are lacking...seasoning, depth, that certain something that makes the value. My cheeseburger was overwhelmed by the bun, the cheese was, IDK, was there even cheese? The beef was dry, like there was not a drop of fat in it. Thankfully the crispy fingerling potatoes took up the slack. My companion ordered the carbonara, and it was a funky grey color. Also the sauce was thin and flavorless. I couldn't put my taste buds on what was wrong with it until the next day. I finally realized there was no egg on the dish. Drinks were fine, service was excellent.

We were in town attending a large national conference for families affected by their condition, and many conference attendees were also staying at the hotel. When we arrived, the restaurant appeared to be about 80% empty. Our children mentioned to the waitress that they were hungry and tired, and the first response we received was, "Do you have a reservation?" She explained that they couldn't seat us because they were expecting a large party. Instead of being seated at a regular table, we were directed to the bar area, where the bartender kindly took care of us despite the fact that our group included two minors. We stayed for over an hour, and during that time, the large party never arrived. Meanwhile, we watched other guests without reservations get seated at tables without any apparent issue. The experience left us feeling singled out and, ultimately, discriminated against. Whether that was the intention or not, it reflected a disappointing lack of empathy and inclusion--especially considering that so many families with children with disabilities were staying at the hotel for the conference. I'm giving Bella Ciao three stars because the food was decent, the portions were generous, and the bartender provided good service. Unfortunately, the way we were treated upon arrival overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.
