I was introduced to this place by a Cuban coworker and let me just say...the lunch buffet is banging (insert something more fitting in spanish if you're fluent lol) I judge ethnic restaurants by their clientele. So I'm thinking I'm already a step ahead because my coworker rec'd it but when I walked in and saw basically all the clientele looking the same, I knew the food was good! And I wasn't disappointed... Our group all ate from the lunch buffet $7.99. It's only a handful of dishes + a kettle of soup and a salad; we aren't talking Chinese buffet here. It's literally a rectangular table in the corner. I don't even know the names of the food I tried, sorry...but most of it was delicious! The rice and black beans, all the meat dishes were so good but the pork one was just melt in your mouth delicious!!!! The only thing I didn't care for was the yuca...it was steamed or something but it doesn't work for me. The place is uber small, packed during lunch. I've been here a few times and it never disappoints. Today I tried the chicken soup and oh goodness, it was just perfect. The chicken was so tender it falls apart in your mouth & so much of it. There are a good amount of veggies in there but not TOO much. The noodles got a little soggy but I don't even care because the soup is just perfect. I have to vote this place as one of the best Cuban restaurants in Houston. Amazing food and on top of that they are reasonable with their prices. For lunch this place offers a small buffet or you can order off the menu. I usually go with the buffet but have also ordered sandwiches off the menu. Everything here has been amazing. I don't really recommend any one thing I recommend trying it all. You can't go wrong unless you're just having a bad day and want to complain. AMAZING!! Went here because I was craving a Cuban sandwich and boy they did not disappoint. They have multiple sandwich selections (all literally only $7-$9). I went with the Media Noche (which is like a Cubano, but with sweet bread) and omg so great. Also was craving a cafecito since it was a cold and rainy day so I had their latte that was perfection. Finished off our meal with a flan that you could tell was made from scratch and love. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the service was incredible!!! Our server was so helpful and sweet. Holy Cuban Food Heaven! Thank you baby Jesus for leading us here! Never knew this incredible food was near us! So so oh so good! Stopped in here one Sunday night before the movies. Just driving down the road, saw this little place in a strip center and thought - let's give it a go. There were only a few customers eating while we were in there and it looked like they were cleaning up for the night/setting up for the next day. A nice lady said to sit wherever and came to give us menus. She brought us some buttered toast slices - which were meh. I could have lived without them and I would have preferred some Mariquitas con Mojo or something instead. After exploring them for a while we opted for the Park Fricassee and Spicy Camarones Enchilados. Each came with two sides. We choose rice & black beans, Yuca con Mojo and mixed vegetables. I also got the 'fresh' lemonade that is made in house. Both dishes were bursting of flavor - I just wanted to keep eating every last bite! I really enjoyed the yucca too, but could have done without the fried pork skins on top. It took all my will power to put the fork down! My friends and I recently went to Miami, and on that trip, I was introduced to Croquetas and other amazing Cuban food. Once I came back to Houston, I started craving Croquetas and Cuban food, so I went in search for it and that's how I stumbled upon this place. We went there for lunch today. Due to COVID-19 and per state regulations, they are only operating at 50% capacity. Everyone was spaced out really well and our server was very nice. We ordered multiple orders of Croquetas, and well as some Chicken Empanadas. The Croquetas were ridiculously good! I dare say even better than the ones I had in Miami! Same for the empanadas! They brought out three different kinds of sauces (you have to ask for it), and it went very well with the empanadas. For my entree, I got the Rabo Encendido (oxtail). You can pick 2 sides to go along with entrees, so I picked white rice and the fried ripe plantains (sweet plantains). First of all, the portion is HUGE! You definitely get your money's worth! Second, it was absolutely AMAZING. The meat was very tender, and the sauce had a hint of spice and was very rich and flavorful. I forgot what my friends got, but they had rave reviews for their dishes as well. So, so good. I will say that as far as the language barrier goes, I did have some Spanish speaking friends with me, so communicating wasn't an issue. Can't really speak to the service otherwise, but I could tell that the server does not speak much English at all, so it may be hard communicating if you're not with someone who speaks Spanish. What I ordered: 3 Cuban sandwich: the meat was terribly dry...I thought it comes with pickles and mustard (comparing to the Cuban sandwich in Miami) these sandwiches didn't come with it. YUM! Visiting some friends in Houston and they have been talking about the Cuban restaurant in their neighborhood for years, so I insisted they take us. Saturday afternoon and it was bust but we were seated right away. Had great service. And food was awesome! My Cuban go-to is pechuga pollo, and theirs was fantastic! Okay wow I don't even know what to say but this place has amazing food! Everything we tried was on point. We got the sampler appetizer plate because our group couldn't decide what we wanted but we knew we wanted to try everything and everything on that plate was absolutely delicious. The empanadas and croquettes were the best out of it all. We then ordered different entrees and even though we were stuffed from the appetizer, we couldn't stop eating. The portion sizes are so big that I have food for 3 days! The staff was friendly and attentive and checked on us frequently. Our favorite Cuban spot in Houston was close to dine in because of Covid, we wanted Cuban food and found this place on Yelp. The stars is the reason why we went. Thank God for people who post real reviews! Wow the food was oh so good! Starting with the bread they give you when you arrive. I knew once I had that, we had found a New Favorite. The food was amazing from the black beans to the plantains. It took us about 1hour and 30min drive to get there and we where it disappointed. It totally was worth the drive. I honestly believe that every item on their menu is more than likely delicious. The chicken is perfect, the bistec is perfectly breaded, the pork is flavorful, the beans are AMAZING, the rice is perfect, even the lemonade tasted fresh! My recent visit was for lunch arriving at 12:15 p.m. and the restaurant was busy which is a good sign. To my surprise, there was a singer playing his guitar for entertainment. How neat and remember this was for lunch! Also, the waitress informed me that they offer a buffet for $7.99. I walked by it and it looked very good. Their menu here is rather extensive but that buffet kept calling my name so that's what I went for. I served myself some black beans, fish étouffée like stew over rice, baked chicken legs, Moro rice, sweet plantains and finally chicken soup. I liked everything I ate. It was all delicious and easily rated a 4 and at $7.99 represented a ridiculously good value. Table service during the meal was attentive. This is a very good place to eat and get your Cuban fix. We we in the mood for something different, so even though it's not in our neighborhood, we decided to visit Rincon based on its reviews. The place is very clean and wait staff is friendly. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and I had fish. It was all very tasty. We both agreed that we were most impressed with the fish, it was a large filet and well seasoned. They definitely need us boys and sections. This has to be the best Cuban food in all of Houston. Everything you need at the right place; great food, customer service, and live music. I am Cuban and grew up eating homemade Cuban food all my life so I have had high expectations all my life of what "great Cuban food" tastes like. Even after moving here to Houston, I have tried other Cuban places and they did not meet my expectations. When I visited Rincon Criollo, after my coworkers highly suuggested this place to me, I had an amazing experience. They had live music playing on a Friday around noon time, the place was filled with happy customers, the waitresses were extremely nice and welcoming, they got my food to me EXTREMELY quickly after I ordered, and most of all, their food was almost EXACTLY like my mother's cooking! Eating their food brought me back to many childhood memories and it almost made me emotional! Their food is amazing and authentic! Highly recommend this place! You have to try it!!! read more

Nice Cuban joint in a tiny strip center. Had a chance to try a couple of different dishes due a little miscommunication with the waitress, which mostly worked out in my favor :). So I was able to get my grilled chicken platter and a bowl of oxtails. The grilled chicken was just what it was....grilled chicken, much needed protein after a hard workout, but the oxtails....man what can I say they were on point. Never had oxtails this way with so much meat on them. I have been going to all these soul food places that carry oxtails with a 50/50 ratio of fat and meat, but not here....thick chunks of meat falling off the bone. If you pop in for nothing more than the sandia Jugos Naturales you will die a happy camper! It is by far the best natural juice I have ever had...ever. My favorite sides? 1. Frijoles Negros (black beans) with white rice. A nice thin juice surrounding some firm, not overcooked, black beans. A little kick and a lot of yum. 2. Yuca Frita (Fried Yucca), or as my friend puts it...deep fried mashed taters. I guess it does have that same texture and taste. Lightly breaded and fried it is a wonderful starch alternative. 3. Papas Fritas (French Fries) because they are thinly cut and not greasy. 4. And if you want to be a bit more adventurous I highly recommend the Yuca con Mojo (Yucca with Garlic Sauce). They often sell out by the end of the day. It isn't the most appetizing looking dish but it sure is tasty. I'll be honest, I am such a fan of their Ropa Vieja (Sautéed Shredded Beef cooked in seasoned tomato Sauce 11.99) I don't think I'll ever branch out. And every person I take with me to introduce to this bright little place in this busy strip center orders it because I brag on it so much. It's roast beef in a light tomato sauce - very light - and some well cooked down green peppers and onion. I love it! Love it! We did have some Cuban coffee - very authentic and strong! - and bread pudding for dessert. Don't think you're gonna get Commander's Palace style bread pudding. This is a custard like dessert slice with raisins. It's not the chunky bread pudding you may think of right away. But what a surprise when we dug in and found a light bright flavor. Be aware the waitress speaks very little English. We've had the same one every time we've come. But she is great at laughing with you as you jockey back and forth with your broken Spanish and her broken English. Usually that stuff frustrates me but here it just seems part of the charm. It's in a shopping center (just like everything else in Houston it seems) and when I first walked in, I had some doubts about how this random stop would turn out. He didn't understand some of the words I spoke in English, but I just used few hand motions and we were good. I ordered the Top Sirloin which is a very thinly sliced cut of beef served with cooked onions on top. I also ordered two sides- fried yucca and fried (sweet) plantain. The waiter brought me some hot sauce and garlic sauce on the side. The hot sauce was awesome- really spicy with a bit of sweet (mango?). The garlic sauce was Ok, but I didn't like it that much. My plate looked bland and boring, but everything was delicious. I ATE EVERYTHING. I was so full, but I could not stop. I love fried plantains so much and I was so happy to find them here. They were top notch. yum. And my meal was only $10.95 plus two bucks for a drink. The ambiance of this place is what you'd expect to find in a shopping center restaurant. This was a hidden Cuban gem they have all the delicious antojos Cubanos. I would highly recommend the sandwich cubano, rabo encendido, and the croquetas. The pasteleros are not as good as before they seem to be quite dry now and the black beans have to much comino. I would give This restaurant 4-5 stars but they have always had horrible service. You do not have a designated server so it somewhat a free for all. No one actually checks in on you if you need something you have to wave someone down oh and good luck with getting someone that does not have an attitude.
