Great family owned local restaurant. Small and charming with a diner like vibe. There are pre-made items and daily specials to choose from, but also made to order dishes. I must confess I have never had any of those because I go for one thing... Empanadas. They are my favorite empanadas in the area, hands down. Now it definitely depends on what kind of empanadas you like based on the country. Some make the shell out of corn, some line them with potato between the shell and meat, and some are just perfect! These are the best! Light, crispy dough on the outside and delicious, seasoned and cooked meat on the inside (depending on what you get). They are juicy, never dry and there are a lot to choose from. Cubed chicken, shredded chicken, ground beef, shredded beef, cheese, ham and cheese, guava... And all are absolutely amazing. If they ran out of one you can ask them to make you more. If you're in the area, stop by and try one! You'll be hooked!

Everything is just delish that melt in you mouth taste. Communication barriers are there but my boyfriend and I point and figure it out. The staff is extremely friendly and smiling. Our favorite dishes are the goat and oxtail. Our usual local weekend spot.

For starters, they have free 1-hour parking (with validation) right next door which is a huge perk! Second, they're cash only. Third, this is definitely a local spot and despite a slight language barrier, the staff were incredibly warm & friendly. We ordered the Grande Pan con Bistec w Queso which is their large steak sandwich. We decided to split it and ended up ordering another sandwich midway through because it was that good. The sandwich is simple - steak, fries, onions, and cheese. The bread was the perfect texture and thickness, the steak was plentiful, the fries were salty & crispy, and the onions were tangy & bright. They're also known for their smoothies so we got two. Mamey is a tropical fruit tree native to southern Mexico and Central America. The flavor is closest to a melon, sweet potato, and caramel. I enjoyed this one but it's definitely on the sweeter side. Guanabana is soursop which is more custardy, sweet like banana and tangy like pineapple. I absolutely loved this one! This meal was so simple yet so satisfying. I highly recommend checking them out!

What an excellent spot!…read more I've been here a few times - both for just drinks and most recently for dinner. The vibes here are excellent - the space is beautifully decorated, clean, and the outdoor patio is gorgeous, especially in the summertime. The cocktails are all extremely creative and delicious (although I do think a little on the weak side). The last time I was here was for a birthday dinner. We were a large party of 8 women, and all the staff was very accommodating towards us. The food/drinks came out quickly, and they even gave my friend a big ol' birthday celebration complete with a firework candle and a light-up sign. The food is pretty decent - Spanish and Hispanic mostly, with a Caribbean flair. Standouts were the coconut shrimp (which came on a clothes hanger), the steak and tostones, and the ropa vieja. The only real downside of Don Coqui is the price of everything. The bill (with a 20% tip added for a large party) was just shy of 600 dollars, and this was for a table of appetizers and cocktails. Also, the valet parking for 15 dollars is wild, especially when there is a free lot available mere steps away. if you're feeling a little bougie, this is a great spot to grab a drink and get some great photos!
