Friendly staff. Food was good and reasonable prices. Arroz con pollo was enjoyable; slightly less tomato flavor than I'm used to.

Bad service. Upcharge on everything. 3/7 of our dishes had visible facial hair in it. Our server tried to convince us it was part of the tortilla (it was not). Asked the manager if we could just please leave as my family was not going to eat anything and we didn't want to cause a scene. The manager asked us to pay 50% of check.

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING. I'm fine with bad service but not bad food. We each had three bites of our lackluster lunches and walked away. Zero seasoning. Everything was clearly straight out of a can and even the bottled beer had turned. Zero effort in the overall appearance of the space as well, everything about this place screams shabby. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Literally driving to find somewhere else to eat now. I wanted to like this place so badly.

Our service was friendly and they were happy to accommodate some special dietary needs we have. The restaurant had several booths and tables for customers. The food and drink options were plentiful, but everything lacked much flavor. We had chicken fajitas and shrimp fajitas, shared between three people. There were plenty of peppers and onions, but the proteins were less plentiful and overdone, a bit tough. There wasn't any extra salsa from the chips we'd ordered (which are often complimentary, but not here) and the fajitas didn't come with any more salsa. They brought us some when we asked though. There aren't a lot of eating options in Forks, but I'd probably stay home and make my own next time. I hope they're able to make some changes and have success.

The food portion was small for the price it gave use and it was bland. The service was decent it was just the nachos we got didn't provide enough salsa for four. The ambiance was ok.

This is a friendly place to grab a Mexican dinner in Forks. Food was fresh, portions were good, service was quick.

The mole was really good and they were open later than the food trucks down the road.

Chicken tacos were gas. Portions are massive. Service is kind of slow but worth it. Overall good.

It does have a nice shed-like attachment with three picnic tables to stay out of the sun and wind. Staff were friendly. Food: I got the four meat combo and it's a hefty amount of food for just under $30. You honestly could split it with someone as it'll likely put you in a neat coma if you eat it all by yourself. Ribs: These are 3 huge St Louis cut and not your smaller baby back ribs. Lightly glazed and pull apart tender, these were definitely the best of the 4 meats. Chicken: Mine was dark meat with a drum and thigh, it was neither dry nor moist but somewhere in between. The neutral flavor of chicken lets the smoke flavor shine through really well and was a surprising hit. Sausage: A freshly-cut full link. Nice firm texture, medium smoke, and almost with a little snap to the casing which is enjoyable. Brisket: Of all the meats, this has the strongest smoke flavor with a nice charred bark on the outside and no fattiness at all in my cut. It easily pulls apart by hand. BBQ sauce: Texans are not known for their sauces and this is not exception. It texturally looks like a coarse pizza sauce and is sugary sweet. Personally not a fan. Potato salad: Not too much mayo, it basically tastes like a baked potato which helps clean your palate between meats. Beans: Very simple beans, not sweet at all and basically tastes like refried beans which I liked but some may find boring. Overall this place is solid, it's not the best BBQ I've had but it's a good option for being in a tiny rustic town. You get a large amount of food that justifies the price and the meats genuinely stand on their own without sauce. The seasonings are on the simpler side which is classic for Texas style BBQ. I think as long as you're not expecting KC style bbq with heavy rubs and tomato based sauces, you'll find someonething to like.

This place was great. The staff were very kind, and we got our food fast. Everything was delicious. I especially loved their potato salad and my kids loved the daily special, mac and cheese. I would happily come back here again if I ever return to Forks.

If you showed up without a reservation, you might have to wait for them to clean off a table, but didn't seem like anyone was waiting outside for over ten minutes. What they DON'T tell you in OpenTable: your deposit is applied to your bill but any remaining balance is given back as a GIFT CARD. This is clearly a restaurant choice, not an OpenTable policy. If you are a party of two looking to splurge, you can probably hit $140 without trying too hard (if you get two entrees, three appetizers, a dessert, and either apply the rest for tip or take a $15 jar of mole home). But I do think it's deceptive for Maiiz to have this policy without clearly noting it on OpenTable, especially since the likelihood you're coming as a tourist seems pretty high. Foodwise, everything was fine, I shouldn't judge the flavors against what I could find in CA. I was here as a tourist, and while I wouldn't come back here again, I wasn't upset about my dinner experience and it did provide a nicer dinner ambiance and zero wait. We ordered the duck confit tacos (the server said this was their top dish but it was NOT good, pretty dry and very small), beef barbacoa quesadila (pretty lacking in cheese, not as juicy as I'd like, but it was better than the duck confit), esquites (lime-forward which I like), butternut squash sopecito (just ok), one tuna tostada (very good!), and the cornbread (also very good!). That looks like a lot but we (two females) went home feeling satisfyingly full, with a leftover box of two tacos and one quesadilla. The only other quibble is that their menus are on ipads which are annoyingly laggy.

I took a drink of it and it was indeed incredible. Five stars for the drink. We ate outdoors and it was lovely. Now for the reasons behind the three stars: the food. As much as I wanted to love it, it was not very good. I love the concept of the restaurant and really wished the food had been more palatable. The barbacoa was over salted and barely tolerable. It also lacked flavor. I was happy to find a gluten-free place with good masa, but almost everything is made from it so it becomes overwhelming and unappreciated. I ordered the Chilaquiles with both green and red sauce; both salsas were underwhelming. My husband ordered the posole also with barbacoa which unfortunately made his dish over salted as well. Overall, we would never choose to eat here again and wonder if it is a tourist trap as it is located in Chinatown.
