We ordered the Ring Pro which worked great for the first 5 days and then stopped connecting via WiFi and would not reconnect. Everything else in a our household still works wonderful. We contacted online customer service. My husband spent over an hour going in circles with the representative who basically told him we need to hire an electrician because we don't have the proper tools to give him information that he is asking for. Basically they said there is nothing they can do to help. $230 for a product that lasted 5 days, and customer service that doesn't support its product. read more

Bought a Ring Video Door Bell 2 and chime a little over 30 days ago and have been working on trying to get it to be usefull nearly every day. The primary problem with it is the "motion" detection performance renders it useless. For one thing it doesn't really detect motion, it detects changes in infra red (IR) returns. For another thing the sensitivity slider for detections is useless. On a smart phone you can't adjust it in incremental steps, in fact until I installed Ring software on a Win 10 PC (Ring's App is incompatible with a Win 7 PC) I didn't know it had 10 steps to adjust the sensitivity. The smart phone usually just jumped from min to max. However; after spending about a week attempting to get the motion detection useable I decided the sensitivity slider is useless Because: At a setting of 9 or 10 it will detect "motion" (changes in IR) out to about 100', which picks up every car going by resulting in a false motion trigger about every 15 minutes. During a 10 hour period 40 videos are produced. Looking through the videos in an attempt to find someone actually approaching the front door would take a couple of hours - making these settings useless. At a setting of 8 no "motion" is detected until a body is directly in front of the camera at a distance of 3' - making it useless since the video isn't useable for 2-3 seconds after the camera is triggered in which time a person could move to the side of the camera out of view or in the case of a delivery person they've dropped the package and all you see is their back as they depart. All settings less than 8 just reduce the 3' detection distance. My installation has a light colored stucco garage wall well to the the left of the camera. During the day the north facing camers picks up heat (IR) changes from the sun off the wall and causes probably 1/2 of the false triggers - this after enabling only the center sensing sector - indicating the enabling or disabling of the sectors is also useless (inoperative). Unfortunately I spent to much time trying to get this useless device to work so I'm outside the Amazon 30 day return window. ...the chime works, but unfortunately only with a ring door bell. read more

They finally decided to replace my device and I am happy to report that my issues have been resolved for the present time. I was so excited about the ring doorbell pro but have been disappointed and frustrated with it going offline more than online. I have spent a large amount of time trouble shooting it both without and with customer service. The device health "reports" that the voltage and wifi is good but frequently is offline. Speed tests on the internet is fine. I even received a free wifi extender and it still goes offline. The longest it has stayed online is almost 3 days. Reviewing my account, the device is online mostly in the morning. So maybe the sunshine on the front of the house in the afternoons may be a problem but there is nothing mentioned din their support forum. Anyway I still don't have a device that's up and running, which is a great disappointment since I spent over $400 to buy the product and paid installment service through Amazon back in September. read more

I have had the battery powered ring doorbell for some time so I have had time to mess with the set up. I also have a pro version that has the same lack of dynamic range but for the battery powered one my biggest complaint is the dynamic range... it's non existent. The porch is always darker than the street and unless it's almost dark everything is washed out with white. The only remedy was to mount way high up and aim at the ground as to not catch anything except the stoop. My latest issue is the camera only records 5 seconds every time. It will see cars in the street far away and set off an alarm but as for the mail man, he is a ninja and I only ever see him leaving. (I have stairs and the mail slot is right in front of the doorbell) The motion detection is whacky in what it deems alarm worthy. The whole five seconds of video and freezing for the remainder of tee clip is lame and I'm just gonna reset the camera again. Hopefully that will fix it. The audio has never really worked right on the pro. You talk and its hard to make out what you just said but I usually hear everything fine. I have a real camera security system that back up these two doorbells so I don't rely on these for anything other than a doorbell and supposed to be alerts. I recommend you get a cheap security camera system and use the ring as just a alert if anything. The ring products are gimmicky and that stupid chime sound is what makes people go mental!!! Our Ring doorbell worked for a week then locked us out, did not recognize our password, did not send links when reset password was requested, did not pick up when customer service was called - WTF? There was no avenue available to solve our problem. Then I went on Yelp and saw all the bad reviews - OMG!!!! If I had seen those reviews first, I never would've bought the Ring doorbell. Their motto "Our Mission is to reduce crime in neighborhoods" is obviously BS because, after seeing these reviews, any thief who approaches a house with a Ring doorbell would feel confident that the product is not working and he could break in without risk of ever being caught. I was very excited at first to get Ring for the front doorbell even-though $180 seemed pricey. It's been incredibly unreliable in the year since I purchased from Amazon. When accessing from my IPhone most of the time, it's not working causing me to spend time unscrewing it from it's mount going through for the umpteenth time the start-up process as it was new trying to get it to work. Because it's such a poor product, I went ahead and bought and had installed 4mb cameras that always work and put out good image quality. Now I know why when the founder of the company went on the show Shark Tank, it was rejected. I should have as well. read more

I have had a Floodlight Cam and Pro Video Doorbell for about a month - and numerous problems. The critical problem is the lag between the real world and when I can see it on my iPad or iPhone. It can be as much as 20 seconds. By the time you see the intruder or burglar, they will be long gone - or in your bedroom. Both devices are hard wired with -45 and -56 RSSI and 60-70GB download and 7.85GB upload internet speed. The Ring customer service team is very professional, sympathetic and has tried very hard to make things right. We can get the devices working but then the Floodlight will fail again and the lag remains. I called Ring yesterday with the latest problem and they promised a callback with a solution "in about a half hour." It's the next day and I am still waiting. Bottom line? The cam would work sometimes but not all the time, notifications were minutes after the motion happened, video was blurry, live view was never available.And to top it all off both my wife and I tried getting support from ring with no luck. read more

Horrible customer service. They disconnected my service by mistake even though I already paid for the full year and had 4 months left. When I called them about it they reconnected my service but charged me again without my authorization even though I told the rude agent explicitly they don't have my authorization to charge my card. I never got access to the old videos even though they admitted that the disconnection of service was their mistake. They told me a supervisor will call me back but he/she never did. I am going to sell my ring devices on ebay and go with another company. Also, their devices are not dependable, they do stop working intermittently. I recieved a Ring Video Doorbell 2 as a gift. The instructions suggested that it would be compatible with any kind of doorbell so I opened it and installed it. Then my doorbell would ring randomly, at any time, even if no one was at the door. When I called Ring, they helped me figure out that my Seidel Chime was not compatible and I could either buy another chime (they sent me a list of compatible chimes) or I could buy a solar charger or battery attachment so that it could operate independently from my chime. I chose to buy a new chime but the list they provided is very long, with many options being models that are no longer manufactured. When I read several reviews about these chimes, many Ring owners said the chimes did not work well with their Ring Video Doorbell 2. I called Ring to ask for a recommendation and the "customer service" person said that wasn't possible. When I expressed my frustration, she just ghosted me - at first for 30 seconds after which she came back and claimed she had been reading my texts. Then she ghosted me for two minutes and I finally hung up. Ring is only interested in selling and doesn't care about customer satisfaction. Unless you want to waste your time, DO NOT BUY FROM RING! I'm ripping my Ring Video Doorbell 2 out and buying something else. read more

I had a Ring installed about 1 1/2 years ago. I have had problems with it for most of that time. It disconnects from the wifi, I have to remove it to charge it, (which takes some time, and now I don't have a doorbell) and I cannot get it to affix back to its backplate. After a year it no longer records who was at the door and wants me to sign up for a service (after paying a fortune for the device). I can see that there are times it could be useful, but there are too many problems with it right now. read more

I do not recommend this product to anyone. The camera resolution is poor, and if the installation is more that 40 feet from your router you will need a wifi extender. my brother gave me this as a gift and l I love it!!! I was actually traveling to NJ about an hour car ride away when my bell rang through my cell. I answered & saw who was at my door & told them I wasn't interested in what they were selling. My younger nephews were amazed :) why spend hundreds of dollars & monthly fees & wiring when you hook this up in a few minutes. PLUS you get a big lighted sign letting people know you have the RING video & surveillance video hooked up, to definitely deter trouble makers from going on your property. For larger homes they have the same item with sensor lights. When you see the lights go on just check your cell phone to see whose walking by. You cant see whose walking by with those other systems... my advice is GET IT!!!!! read more

Purchased two ring doorbell a year ago. The bells worked great for a few months. Service is horrible for both. Live view has a black screen, motion detector doesn't work. Video skips or malfunctions. I have the chime pro which helps sometimes. Technicians are helpful but the issue is continuous. Every 4 days or so. Both bells are hard wired. It only works if someone rings the bell but the person looks ghost like. Wasted money. Will get a better system in 2018. They need to sell the company. Adding new product doesn't help if customer already spent $480 for the old products that don't work. 1 year shelf life for there product/service. Horrible. Just horrible. read more

This review is strictly about the customer service at Ring and not the product itself. I never had a chance to use the product. On 11/26/2016 I purchased my product for a family member for Christmas. I found out on 11/27 the family member already had that product so I emailed the customer service email to cancel the item. On 11/30 I received an email from the customer service group confirming that the item has been cancelled. On 12/01 I received an automatic email from Ring stating that my item has been shipped. Okay - I decided there is nothing I can do at that point since the item has already been shipped. On 12/03 I received the product. Since 12/03/16 I have placed 3 phone calls to ring to let them know that I would like to return my item. 2 out of the 3 times I was told that a shipping label would be sent to me via email. After the 2nd time not receiving the shipping label I called a 3rd time. 1 hour and 15 minutes later (after re-giving them my information (for the 3rd time) for the new shipping label they said they were working on) I was finally told that the company DOES NOT provide shipping labels to customers for any returned products. WHAT THE HELL! If I was told this from the very beginning it wouldn't have been an issue but the fact that I was miscommunicated to several times is very frustrating! The lack of communication that this company has astonishes me. The reps doesn't seem to know the rules or policies and seem to make up their own or tell the customer what they need to in order to get by or get off the phone. SO TO EVERYONE OUT THERE THAT WANTS TO RETURN ANY TYE OF RING PRODUCT THE COMPANY DOES NOT PROVIDE SHIPPING LABELS (even when the company is at fault) SO DON'T LET THEM LEAD YOU ON AND LIE TO YOU ABOUT THIS. Such a very long story but after buying a wifi extender, replacing both the "defective" door bell and "defective" chime I am still so disappointed in this product. The customer service folks told me that it takes several minutes for the camera to re-set after activation. So potentially, I could pull out of my driveway and the door bell will activate. If someone comes to my door to break in within 3-5 minutes after I leave it will not record. No matter where I place the range detector it will activate with a passing car or my palm tree blowing in the breeze. It takes several seconds for it to record people at my door in order to notify me. It's a great concept but it doesn't work like one would expect it to. read more

The doorbell doesn't work well and half the time the image takes too long to download to see anything. I have tested all of my upload speeds etc with no issues but the unit is slow to react. Bought a doorbell a year ago. Battery kept going dead. So I got an adapter. Then I found out that the adapter really only allowed to be a trickle charger that won't keep the battery charged; you still have to disconnect it from the wall and recharge. Now, it won't stay connected to my network (although a bunch of other stuff does). I'd say it is not a good enough product to recommend. read more

We just spent over an hour on the phone w/Ring, as well as trying chat online, in order to return three spotlights that simply will not work in this rural area. We were hung up on, disconnected via the chat twice, and additionally lied too (by Briana via online chat) and told that we had to pay full shipping to return the products. The website clearly states that we will pay simply a 5 dollar flat fee to return. Finally, after an hour of talking on the phone and simultaneously trying to chat online to get this resolved they switched us to a supervisor who assured us we would be receiving a return label with no fees. We shall see. We are still waiting for it. In addition, when we received the 3 spotlights there was no receipt in the box. When we tried to log into our account online they acted like our shipping order number didn't exist. They clearly have stall tactics to avoid paying return shipping. Horrendous customer service - they acted like they had no idea what we had ordered or who we were even though they have all of our information online. Returning a product that we have had approximately one week and are unable to use should be simple and stress free. They simply are trying to avoid paying return shipping fees. I was so excited to get this doorbell as it seemed to be better than the few other similar products. I successfully set up my tablet to receive alerts as I use my tablet more than my iphone. It's a good looking unit, I'll say that. I chose to mount the doorbell near the doorknob on the wood trim rather than hard wiring it. I thought the purpose is to alert the user when someone enters the established detection zone. The guy who cuts the grass just now walked straight to the door about 8 inches from the Ring doorbell, and NOTHING! I could see him through the sidelights. No notice and no alerts on phone or tablet. To check on activity, I have to log in. Every time. Did I do something wrong here? My Iphone is semi set up to receive alerts. The Ring icon is on screen but after four attempts to add this device, it took so long after adding my location, the app timed me out. I tried Live Chat with Ring but I just could not get through to the person the problems I have with Iphone set up. I just gave up. It's installed and is a very expensive doorbell. The founder of the company says his wife loves the device and feels everyone who has their product will feel safer. I think she likes laughing all the way to the bank better. I will give it one more try, toss it into the pool, then return it. read more

Doorbell Pro 2 works sporadically. As other say, it captures people walking away but not when they come up the driveway. Captures cars on the street but not a person directly in front of the doorbell. The doorbell is only as good as the signal it receives from the modem router which can be a maximum of 20 feet. The signal cannot go thru brick wall which is to the outside of the home. This product looks like it works for an apartment - but not a house. Same situation for the stick-up cam read more

Customer service sucks! We are on our 3rd or 4th stick up cam and I am tired of every time I contact customer service they want me to go through the same reset process every time!! Yesterday the man I spoke with sounded like it was interfering with his day. The camera is now losing battery power at a rapid speed!
