Found by accident, this small shop, tucked away in an unlikely location off Preston Rd., proved to be a remarkable find. I live in University Park and frequent doughnut shops. The doughnut treat I had will bring me back soon. The item I selected for my first Rings experience was a bacon maple combination, and the maple frosting had a genuine maple flavor; the smoky bacon pieces were liberally embedded on top of the frosting. The bacon bits themselves were coated in brown sugar, maybe with a touch of cinnamon. Note, these were not crumbles of bacon, but inch-long strips. The base doughnut was fluffy and fresh, a worthy example of a solid doughnut enhanced by the flavorful toppings. I say this find was by accident because I was at a printer's where a job was done for a client, and I was going to my car when I noticed a new-to-me business and went to look in the window. I was looking at the display case when the door next to me opened, and a woman popped out to say, "Would you like to come in?" It was one o'clock in the afternoon, not a time one is likely to be shopping for morning pastries. But the polite invitation was impossible to refuse as the inviting aroma rolled forth from the open door. It's a small place, just counter service. The products are displayed in countertop glass cases. Along with the doughnut varieties, there are sausage rolls, croissants, in sweet or savory offerings, and a few other items. They have an espresso machine and do several flavored coffees. I had an excellent fresh-squeezed orange juice. I'm told they also make fresh lemonade. If you're in the Park Cities or north Dallas and looking for coffee and pastries, I suggest turning off Preston on Sherry Dr (by Sevy's) and going a couple of blocks down to Ring. Stopped in to grab donuts for my team to celebrate national donut day. I came in around 7:30am on a Wednesday and there was one person in line. After trying the donuts I am very surprised they don't have a line out the door. I ended up getting a variety of donuts (2 dozen total). All the donuts are fresh and perfectly fluffy. Some other donuts can be too doughy or dense but these had the perfect texture. I also appreciated that they were not overly sweet. I was pleased to see they offered gluten-free donuts which accompanied some people on my team with allergies. Everyone raved how tasty the donuts were, not one donut was left! I wanted to try a new donut spot for National Donut Day & was hesitant to choose Rings as they didn't have the 500 different flavors that some artisan donut shops offer, but let me tell you, IT IS WORTH IT! They had about 3 specialty donuts as well as an array of staples. As all the specialty flavors were filled, we decided to opt for the blueberry fritter and sprinkle donut instead. While both were simple in nature, the execution was perfection! Not too sweet, not too dry, and had a slight crunch to the exterior! Employee working on Sunday greeted us right when we entered. He was super friendly and helpful! We got there around 11am and they close at 1. Their offerings were definitely depleted. They also had boxes of day old donuts available. We ordered Boston Cremes, blueberry, raspberry jelly, plain and a cake donut with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles. By buying 6 donuts I got a discount (forget if it was 5 or 15% off). They don't skimp on the jelly or crème in the donuts. None were too sweet. All thoroughly enjoyed! read more

We were in Dallas for a few days, and staying at a hotel that did not provide breakfast. We needed a quick stop before heading to the presidential library. Decided to give this place a try given the great reviews. It is located in a strip center, in a very busy section of town. It is a small little shop, but it does have a window bar area with seating, and a little table outside on the sidewalk if the weather was good. All the donuts looked fabulous, and it was so hard not to buy more than we could eat in one sitting! I chose a cronut, that turned out to be so delicious, soft, flaky, and amazing I would be back in a heartbeat if I could. We both ordered flavored coffees, and my boyfriend, who is a much more of a coffee connoisseur than I am, kept raving about how smooth and flavorful the coffee was. The time i came in shouldn't matter since donuts stay fresh all day especially if they're made same day. You're just putting donuts in a bag and ringing it up. Sure, i came in 5 minutes before close, but it's not like you all were making the donuts right then or busy since the store was empty. Warming up donuts takes about 10 seconds, so you're telling me that 10 seconds was the make or break moment whether I'd be getting good donuts or not ?.... I appreciate your offer, however all of my reviews are authentic and thorough so I make it a point not to take free or compensated food from any businesses. My wife was craving her favorite flavor donut..toasted coconut. Turns out no one really makes them anymore. Called around to several shops and each seemed like I was asking for something ridiculous and offered me no other similar options. Then I called Rings. The owner was amazing and told me she doesn't have any but she would love to create one for me. In 5 minutes I was in her shop and 2 delicious custom made toasted coconut donuts were waiting for me. Eyes eat First! New change: New Owners and wider selection of Donuts. Biggest question: Are the donuts still good? Short answer: Yes, but no. Favorite Donuts prior to the Change: - Blueberry Cake - Chocolate Glaze - Chocolate Cake - Strawberry - White Chocolate Main reason why this place stood out among the other donut shops were the size of the donut, taste & overall texture. They did not have a wide selection in the past with the old owners, but they capitalized on the quality aspect that placed them on the front end. With the new owners, unfortunately the taste, size and quality changed. The donuts lost weight and the only ones that kept their size were the Glaze, Chocolate, Cinnamon, & Cronut. In terms of texture, most if not all lost the high level of fluffiness & thick coating of Chocolate. The type of ganache has also changed. The original ganache was Valrhona or Ghirardelli, super good! Donut holes did not have any fluff anymore. Sad to say, no longer a top contender for Great Donuts in the DFW. They do have specials; however, if they're falling short on the plain & simple I don't expect much from the specials besides it being super sweet. Hands down freshest donuts I've ever eaten. I've been here twice and the second time I ordered online to pick up in store and both times I have received my donuts still hot! Exceptional service provided here! Anyone who stops by will surely feel at home. I ordered a few donuts included their cinnamon roll and blueberry fritter. The cinnamon roll was by far the best thing I had that day and the blueberry fritter was good although it tasted a bit burnt/over cooked and perhaps would've been the highest ranked if not for that.
