We bathed our daughter the night we were there. Twenty minutes later when we went to put her to bed, we noticed her feet were disgustingly dirty already from walking around our hotel room. That grossed me out to no end. They say free wifi, but when my husband was on, I couldn't get on and vice versa. Annoying. It is conveniently located by a Subway and Taco Bell. We had an industrial project to install a new control system at PG&E Topoc and took a chance on staying here for a couple weeks straight. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the facility and cleanliness of the rooms. I stay in a lot of hotels all over America. Some are real lousy and some are extremely high end. As far as value is concerned, Rio Del Sol is very hard to beat. No, the pool is not heated and no they do not have a daily "breakfast" in the lobby. That stuff didn't matter since we were gone by 5:15 a.m. and got back at 7:00 daily. There is a gentleman that works the front named Brett, and I hope I'm getting his name correct because he calls me by name when I show up and I'm not local. But it is impressive that this gentleman would know me by name and treats me with such respect when I show up there that I hope the Rio Del Sol realizes the superstar they have in that man and treat him as the valuable asset to the company that he is. Of the limited motel choices in Needles the Rio Del Sol is the best choice in my opinion. I normally stay at hotels such as the Hampton Inn or others under the Hilton umbrella. No such thing in Needles so based on other good reviews I chose the Rio Del Sol. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. My room very clean and comfortable, no bed bugs (I always look), and the heater quiet. The location was fine. The rooms were good, the beds were SO comfortable! We drove down from Phoenix, after flying in from our home in Minneapolis/ St. Paul. I was originally going to give Rio Del Sol a 5 star rating.. but now I wish I could give them a 20 star rating! While tucking my daughter in for the night in JT, CA, I realized that her favorite stuffed animal, a lemur..named Lemur, was missing. I called the hotel late at night, and found out that Lemur was there, and was having a good time in Needles, waiting to fly back home to St. Paul on Monday in the AM. Clean, nice hotel. The Front Desk called after check in to make sure everything was fine in our room, awesome customer service! We also got a 10% discount at our favorite restaurant. PROS: -The décor is nice to look at. -The mini fridge has a freezer. -The staff is extremely kind. -They ask you upfront if anything isn't satisfactory, and will quickly give you more blankets, pillows, etc. -They include some soap for the shower. CONS: -The WiFi is slow and choppy. -The list of TV channels is low, but there is enough variety to last a couple nights. -There is a nearby train that goes by, but it doesn't honk its horn. -There is no provided breakfast. The only possible explanation I can come up with for the drastic differences in these reviews is the pet friendly rooms are either nicer or people are so grateful to have a place with their pet that they'll overlook the downsides. I did not have a pet. The carpet was filthy, the room smelled like dirty laundry, the water in the sink smelled like sewage, The upsides were the staff were friendly and the TV and fridge worked fine. Room was clean, nothing in disrepair, except for 1 electric outlet. AC works but it took forever to cool down the room . Wifi was slow and unreliable. Less than 1 Mb per second when it worked . Sometimes it did not work. Room was hot as a furnace upon entry. I wish they turn the AC on before I arrived. It does get hot in Needles during the summer. Room was quiet. The AC works but sounds like a freakin' plane about to take off. Good luck trying to sleep when your only two choices are to melt in 100-degree rooms or listen to what sounds like thousands of washing machines filled with granite. The pillows seem to be made with tissue paper and are about as pleasant to sleep on. The rooms are clean and the staff is nice but absolutely nothing is comfortable, and honestly I just got a really sketchy vibe from the whole place. read more

A nice place to stop for a night. Clean, large king room was really nice. Fresh paint, clean, did not have the nasty antiseptic smell. Furniture typical for the price range. In room ac noisy like you would expect, we could hear our upstairs guests easily as they walked around. Ask for upper units if you are really light sleeper. Could easily get two twin rollaways in room. Since there is a Tesla supercharger right next door. It would be nice if the hotel would allow other electric vehicles to plug in since they have many outlets available. We asked but they said no. Good office staff. Good place to stay when we come to play on the Colorado River. The carpet in every room we've stayed in is in desperate need of replacement but the bed is comfy and the a/c works good. Pets are welcome and those rooms have hard floors, much cleaner. Location is quiet. Brett is usually at the front desk and is awesome. Super helpful and friendly. He remembers us and our friends every visit, great customer service. Thanks Brett! The woman who checks us out on Sunday mornings, not so friendly . We just stayed there twice, in route to and from Sedona. Great room, fantastic people. I'm so glad (and relieved) that they maintain some rooms for smokers. And that they allow pets. Ok, lets be clear, this is not a 4 star hotel. But our stay here was definitely 4 star. This was the perfect mix of an older but well kept hotel, without peeling paint and cracks, and with a very very clean feel to it. We paid about $69 plus tax. Our room had a fridge, coffee pot, and microwave. The remove was one of those "clean remotes" which I love since we are traveling with a 9 year old. My husband and I are both very sensitive to the comfort of beds, and we both slept well. There was a $15 dog fee, which was bearable. There was a place to run the dogs which we really appreciated. No grass, as mentioned, but that wasn't important to us. There was a train fairly close by depending on where your room is, but we were almost at the end and I didn't hear it at night. Also, we got free breakfast with our room, at the Juicy Café. Choices were cold (cereal, etc.) or scrambled eggs with ham and a biscuit. If you wanted neither you got 20% off your bill. I got the ham and eggs and added cheese and gravy for like $1.50 total and it was really really good. The gravy was seriously amazing. You can see my pics loaded as well. Our first choice was the Best Western right down the road...but we were informed that they did not allow pets...but their other hotel did. As we were making a cross country move, we had our little cat along for the ride. So off to the Rio Del Sol we went...my hopes were not too high when I say the motel set up. And I was not disappointed, the carpets were stained, the beds rock hard and the meager two pillows per bed were the size of postage stamps. The room was clean, but had a funky odor that I could not identify...nor did I really want to. Skip this one...sleeping in our van would have been a more upscale choice. read more

This is a basic hotel with good amenities. The check in process was hindered and so I waited 30 min to check in but this may not be the norm and the employees were all very helpful and nice. Room very basic. Quiet the night I stayed. Breakfast was complementary at the restaurant " juicy" across the way and they were very nice, even offering to give us to-go coffees when we left. After leaving they called to tell me I left my Charger - very nice. I returned and retrieved ! Room clean, quiet. I would stay here again. Hmmmm what can I say. It was clean that's about all I can say that's nice. I wouldn't ever pay the price I did again. I could have stayed at motel 6 or days inn for cheaper. The beds were hard as a rock and my husband and I didn't get much sleep. It's been a long trip for us and we usually stay at a better hotel but since they were all booked we had no choice. My advice is if you can help it stay somewhere nicer with better beds. After a long day of driving we pulled in close to 9 p.m. and checked in looking forward to soaking in the jacuzzi the front desk clerk gave me towels we checked into our room switched into our suits walked over and it was locked the clerk said the maintenance man would come unlock it for us we stood outside for 10 minutes my husband is handicapped and can't walk along ways I walked over to the front desk and ask her what's going on the maintenance man said he wouldn't come and unlock the door even though it wasn't even 9:30 and it says summer hours are until 10:30 apparently 90° isn't summer hours very disappointed needed to soak my sore body from driving all day will never stay here again offered no compensation read more

We stayed at Rio on a trip to Phoenix Friday night...here's the scoop: Made a reservation in advance....didn't get there until 11pm but we got the lower floor room we requested and at the rate quoted. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The TVs were mid 90s 25 inch boxes but served the purpose for a night. There was a good sized mini fridge and microwave, and all the soap and shampoo are distributed via dispensers on the wall. It was nice and tidy! The night clerk...I think his name was Barry?....was a really nice guy and provided some fun conversation while I was sipping lobby coffee and waiting for my family to wake up. Breakfast at Carl's Jr in the adjacent parking lot was speedy after checkout and back onto the freeway ramp right there moments later. All told it was a good experience. You aren't going to find the Ritz...it's Needles after all. However, if you need a place to stay in Needles...I do recommend Rio Del Sol!! read more

I was more exhausted that first night than I'd thought I'd be, and I was also concerned about a safe place where my kitty Tiggy could get out of her carrier. The staff went beyond the nowadays customer service you normally receive. I made the reservation thru AAA online the morning off and after completing, I called the hotel to ensure reservation, which hadn't reached them yet since I had literally just made it. My point is they actually called me back after they received the reservation to confirm, even though they did not have too. WAY BEYOND the customer service that I usually get. Kudos!!
