It was named after Lower Township Police Officer David C. Douglass, Sr. who was killed in the line of duty and the spot serves as a memorial to his legacy. Dogs are fully allowed on the beach from the day after Labor Day through the day before Memorial Day. They can also go on the beach in-season from 4pm-11am (overnight). We spotted this area while out on a boat the nite prior. A small beach within a short distance from the parking lot, calm water, a jetty for my husband to fish off of, and lots of shells and treasure to be found. There were 2 port-a-potties at the time of our visit and a few picnic tables by the parking lot but no frills beyond that. No lifeguards on duty. We enjoyed watching many boats go by during our peaceful, private visit. Happy to have found our new 'secret spot'

Visited Kiwanis Park this week after beach time at Higbee. My son needed play time to run out some energy because he is still getting used to the beach and it's not his favorite right now, much to my dismay. Kiwanis made my toddler's day! He had a ball on the playstructure, swings, and just running around on the lawn. He loved watching the fountain in the pond, which I was happy to see still running in November. The posted rules say dogs aren't allowed, but various locals were walking their dogs all through this park. The park isn't huge, definitely no walking trail or means of real exercise, except for the basketball court, which is a half-court size. For leisure, picnicking, playground, etc. it is a great space, cuted up with the pond view. Private parking lot is down Leroy's way, the small lane at the entrance.

After spending time at the busier beaches, Higbee was the perfect place to slow down, walk around, and appreciate the beauty of nature. If you're looking for a more relaxed and less crowded Cape May experience, I definitely recommend adding Higbee Beach to your itinerary. Would I come back? Absolutely. Side note: HIGBEE BEACH is Hidden behind wooded dunes and far from the crowds, Higbee Beach is a wild, untouched stretch along the Delaware Bay. No lifeguards, no boardwalk, no badge required-just nature, birdwatching, and calm waters perfect for quiet mornings. Pro tip: bring water shoes.

This park was recently redone and boy has it been a beautiful renovation. Many people just sit and stare out over beautiful sunset lake on the 40 or more benches from one end of the park to the other. Kids frolic. Seniors meet w friends. Surrounding and adorning the park are many memorials that you should take the time to view. Monuments to veterans and in a little tiny Grassy area on New Jersey Ave. you'll see a tiny memorial to a local resident who was lost on the 9/11 tragedy at WTC. Over the years this has become a photo op for people who are leaving Wildwood crest after their summer vacations. Memories are made here

There is street parking or a lot parking available. I do recall one year due to the Marlin tournament. Parking was difficult and we did park a few blocks away. Overall the walk was not bad and it was well worth it. I recommend bringing chairs or a blanket. If you plan to stay a while. On Sundays, they have a live band, ice cream for purchase, a playground, pond, and lots of open grass for family and friends to enjoy. Everyone's favorite part is the Sunday fireworks show. The show is great! We will continue to add this park to our Sunday fun day while in Ocean City.
