Rio Grande's the only Mexican restaurant in our small town. Being as it is, we are regulars. We're always greeted by the friendly staff by our names. Most of their business is take -out. So, it's never crowded in the dining area whenever we go. There's also seating available outside. It's clean and the waiters are very attentive. I'm in love with their beef street tacos with rice and beans and been ordering them for quite sometime now every time we go. That's how I'm obsessed I am with the tacos! This place is great. The staff are all really friendly, the beer is cold, the food is hot and served promptly. It can get busy about 6 pm, but otherwise, it's easy to get a table. Pro Tip: If you like beef, try the quesa birria tacos. They're not on the menu, but they are amazing! read more

I was really hoping they would be good because they are the only Mexican restaurant in the area however it was not that good. Our salsa came in the steak was so chewy, the cheese queso wasn't even authentic & the size of the quesadilla is the same size as the Kids quesadilla at La Fiesta. 65$ for 3 people to eat too without drinks. I came here on 11/13/20 with my friend. We were sat around 6:30. We were sat fairly quickly after arriving. They are requiring masks are are enforcing social distancing by sitting at every other table. Staff were wearing masks. We got our drinks and chips and salsa pretty promptly. An appropriate amount of time passed before the waiter (whose name I don't know) took our order. A salad came with my order, which i barely touched. I ate the cheese and a few bites of lettuce. I ordered the steak and grilled chicken. It normally comes with grilled veggies and French fries. I opted to get steamed veggies for the sake of doing keto. The meats were good. I asked for medium well steak but it tasted/appeared well done. It was a little tough but it was fine. I ate it. No complaints with the grilled chicken. The veggies were very plain, lol. No seasoning at all. There was no salt or pepper on the table. The waiter never came back after taking the order... There was a guy going around refilling salsa though and that was done for my friend. My friend got the fajitas Texan nachos. This included chicken, shrimp, and steak. He stated it was good but only had 5 shrimps. Main reason for 3 stars is lack of service. We needed a box, refills, and the check but didn't get any of that. Had a great experience here. Wanted to grab a bite to eat before our son's drama class started their show. The staff was right on the spot. Seated, drink and food order was unbelievably quick. Before we knew it, our drinks and tortillas with queso dip was delivered to our table. Just minutes later, our food was delivered. We had the Rep Grande special and I got to admit, it was delicious. We stumbled upon this via Garmin on a drive up to VA and would go back again! The staff was very friendly and prompt in seating us on the patio to accomodate my two small dogs and even provided a small container for water (how thoughtful!). They serve chips and salsa before the meal (always a treat at Mexican restaurants) and make a great margarita! We shared the fajitas and found it to be enough food for us. Salsa was excellent, queso cheese for chips was excellent, The chicken fajitas were great, the azollo Camerones was great, my chile relleno was delicious, the rice and beans were just average and my wife and I did not care for the beef used in the enchilada and taco, but my 10-year-old baby girl who is extremely picky loved her just beef tacos. The service was great and the attitudes were excellent. Would be a great place to drink a few margaritas, eat chips with salsa and queso and see where that leads you. read more

We came here for Taco Tuesday after a game at the high school. This restaurant has a nice, family atmosphere, and the staff is courteous. You can't beat the price - $1 for tacos. We were able to feed the family (4) for under $25. This is a good place to bring your family and friends. read more

The service was good and we received free chips and salsa while we waited for our meal. They have a good menu selection with a good price. Our food was good and I would stop again. Our family loves this restaurant! Son and daughter are from Texas and think this is the best they have had. My daughter loves the tortilla soup - a bowl is a meal by itself. My son loved the chicken chimichanga, and husband said his burrito was the best he had ever had. Our new favorite place! read more
