A friend spoke highly of the food at Rio Mambo so I agreed to meet her for brunch and give it a try. I arrived a few minutes after her and she already had a cup of coffee ( fast service). I sat and about a minute later, our waitress appeared to take our orders. I decided upon a brunch special that included a poinsettia ( cranberry and champagne) or Mimosa,omelette and either a sopapilla or cinnamon roll. I chose a steak fajita omelette, mimosa and a sopapilla. My friend chose the all American breakfast. We ate all of our salsa and requested more because it was so good! Our orders arrived rather quickly and we began to eat. My order was something that I could easily create at home but was delicious. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and has beautiful selfie worthy spaces . I plan to return to try dinner and hope that the service is just as great and the food more unique and tastier. read more

we were there last Saturday night. Food is always consistently wonderful. Our waitress was Lola. Ask for her when you go in because her service is far and above others. Of course, it's a beautiful restaurant and the restrooms are well-maintained also! Lola really should be doing the training for the other waitress and waiters. we had some leftover soup as a carry home she took the container and wrapped it in saran wrap how many times has your stuff leaked all over the bag? The is a beautiful restaurant. The interior is big and the restaurant provides both interior and exterior seating. The staff is also friendly and attentive. However, I did not enjoy their vegetarian options. Both the vegetarian quesadilla and enchiladas were bad. This was the first time a Mexican restaurant served me cabbage and carrots for my vegetarian option. I personally do not think it works well with the dishes. Both of the dishes were bland and oily from the cheese and sautéed vegetables. If you are a meat eater then this may be the restaurant for you. However, if you're a vegetarian, I would recommend going somewhere else such as El Fenix. read more

Today was a bad day after some long-delayed eye exams for the both of us. Looking at the time, we decided on trying Rio Mambo's for lunch since they opened at 11:00. Less than 15 minutes. We hoped the bartender George would be there. And he was! We got our favorite entree "The Meagan" and had a great conversation with George (when he could squeeze in a few moments because he was busy). Thank you George for turning a bad day into a good day. Traveling we always check out the Mexican cuisine.. esp in Texas! Food was better than the average Mexican food... the salsa had a different flare taste. The chunky guacamole was great. My hubby got a fajita as usual and what I liked best about it it didn't have a lot of sauce and it was pure flavors from the veggies and meat. I got three grilled chicken tacos with the bean soup. The bean soup had a great taste, tad salty that was good. There was plenty of food and plenty of leftovers for these huge servings so you leave stuffed! The place looks fancy on the outside but on the inside very casual. As far as the service was very average. When we got to our a table it hadn't been wiped off, but the timing of food was excellent and not much wait. Assured that the restaurant was observing pandemic protocols, we decided to dine-in for lunch in this fresh Burleson location of Rio Mambo. Along with 15 other guests who crowded into the waiting area at opening, we waited to be seated and should have already figured out that the safety precautions might not be fully practiced! Seated at a table cleared of any items. We used the scan to pull up the menu easily. Our server greeted us and asked for drink order. No shield/mask like other servers had on - - plastic face shields. Upon her return, she apologized and handed us our straws after wiping her mouth under her freshly put on shield. We ordered the Appetizer Plate and mixed fajitas. Only the plate the fajitas were on arrived hot. Items on the Appetizer plate were room temperature, even the Queso and guacamole! Tasted okay - nothing exceptional, but middle of the road. Since the safe dining protocols brought us in, it seems more than fair to say at a glance it LOOKED like safety was a priority - but when actually in the dining mode, it definitely appeared to be more for show, as none were properly executed and could not be truly effective. Let me back that up: the dramatically worn face shields were dirty on at least two servers and placed at a 45 degree angle by several of the servers (allowing any breathing to drop right down to what was being served.) I was less than 4 feet away from the party of 6 behind me. The person bussing tables left this dining room and with 2 tables partially cleared for 25+ minutes. That allowed us to scrutinize the cleaning procedure - remove plates and wipe with a white cloth rag that was actually left on that first table for over 25 minutes and then directly taken to the second table and used. No spray, no apparent sanitation of the rag - just lots of cross contamination table to table. Pics attached for support. Not trying to be overly critical, but this team was not even going through the motions well. We recognize how very challenging these times are and appreciate the willingness of restaurants to keep diners safe. Unfortunately, if staff is untrained/unconcerned about the details of successful Covid19 protocols, it only takes one of them to spread it. Yes, it LOOKED like shields were a good idea, but not if improperly worn. Same with cleaning. The bathroom did not have any paper towels and when asked, the hostess said there were none available No excuse at all. Paying the check - the server took the card and ran it on her machine, then I chose tip from 20, 22 or 25% (no, 15 was not an option) and signed on a dirty, unsanitized ipad straight from another guest. Yes, used my own hand sanitizer, so kept myself safe. At a glance (or to unconcerned diners) it might have been a 3.5/5 visit. When we left, the 3 hostesses huddled at the door made sure we left by the side exit per their Covid19 procedure!!! read more

Decided to try out the new place in town. For your average common Tex Mex eater I think you will like it. I wasn't blown away or disappointed in general. Service was excellent and place seemed to managed very well. Our waiter was excellent. The menu is vast, possible too vast. I'm sure with large menu I could find something better than I had. I stuck w the cheese enchiladas bc if you can't do that well, why try anything further? Enchiladas were solid enough. The food just seemed average to me. But I'm a foodie and want to be blown away. My cons; place seemed gimmicky to me. Felt like Miami Vice But not in a good way. I didn't like the decor although great effort and money was spent on the interior it appeared. Not the wait to be seated or the wait for our food to come out. Their drinks are very good and very strong! The food was ok for not from scratch Mexican food. But for me very overpriced. Tried it the second time. Ordered something different. It was good but not delicious. Their food is bland. And again the prices are not worth it I think. Would come back here for drinks and appetizers yes. But not for a special dinner. Their deserts are only two to choose from and I passed. Worth a try once. Our family went to this location when it first opened at night and it was nuts! The service was slow and all over the map. This time we came on a Sunday afternoon and things were a lot better. Our server was attentive, management was on the floor visiting tables and food came out hot and fresh. Really great atmosphere and food. My complaint would be the price of the food based on the amount that you get is not balanced. I would recommend going here in the day time or right before 7pm due to this location getting crowded really fast and also happy hour in the bar from 3-7, Monday through Friday. The floors are slick depending on the shoes you wear so please beware when trying to walk to the bar or restrooms. No better atmosphere. This restaurant has an absolutely obscene diversity of delicacies. I'm new to the area, coming from a place that has 747463 taquerias, I am needing some good Tex-Mex. I ordered the "Bo Leo's plate". It comes with 3 different enchiladas and a few other treats: 1. Chicken and creama verde sauce. It was so rich and flavorful. Somewhat spicy and I was not expecting that. 2. Cheese enchilada with queso. The queso was magnificent. It was a strong smoky queso with a tiny kick. 3. Beef enchilada with classic chili con carne. Exactly what you want. Seasoned beef, fresh tortilla and the sauce was gently coated with jalapeño slices.... YUM. 4. A pork tamale. The tamale was thick and flavorful. The pork was clearly marinated deeply and it was juicy and coated with the chili gravy were so accustomed to in Texas. 5. A crispy taco. With the same seasoned beef. Also, weird flex.. it seemed as if they cooked the sides of the shells of the tacos in a way that the sides were hard and crispy but the bottom was slightly softer and malleable ergo it didn't break up trying to eat it. It's the little things. I'm gonna go back and get a better picture. The pic I took turned out blurry but there's other photos of this dish. I'm also gonna check out the drink menu and update this post. I've tried several Tex Mex places in town. If you don't want to fight Wiltshire traffic, find a parking spot downtown or you're commuting through on 35, pick this place. It will not disappoint. The lunch menu is also quite diverse and the lunch prices are literally 40% less than dinner prices, neither of which are unreasonable. Well done Rio Mambo, thanks for choosing Burly for a location.
