Very friendly staff. Place is very clean. Comfortable rooms. Great lil pool. Breakfast looks…read morefantastic. Most hotels in our travels had grab and go. Lytle is a great little town to visit. Only problem I saw was an angry customer giving the clerks a hard time over a trifle thing. People have been really mean this year from what I have seen traveling this year and judging from past posts here some folks need to chill and stop being divas and enjoy that we can go out again. Be kind. Be thankful these hotels are still operating after the two years we had. Clerks, housekeeping staffs are hard workers in this employee shortage era not your servants. Give them your patience and they will treat you well as well.

Since…read moreSabina's River Lodge is pretty much the only hotel/motel in the area, this is where we stayed. Utopia is a tiny little town and Sabinal River Lodge is at the edge. It is a minute drive to town where you'll find a few small cafes and other service stores. The Sabinal River Lodge itself is homey and rustic. It was an enjoyable stay for us. The room we had was spacious with two comfortable queen beds, a small kitchenette and a 4-person table with chairs. It seemed pretty newly refurbished. Everything worked well. They have very basic things in the kitchenette, so don't expect to cook much other than microwaving or using a small pan on the stove. There is no oven and there were no pots. I liked that they provided a new sponge and dish soap though! The fridge is also mini size. But if you're not planning on cooking much, all of this shouldn't be a problem. The cafes in town actually serve food that is affordable and delicious. Apart from sleeping, we didn't really get to spend time at the lodge to enjoy the view from the patio in the back or the outside area. We saw several deer on the property at night, but I'm sure there are other critters to see around, too. The room rate was $135 per night and the check in/out process was easy. The people we interacted with were friendly and because it is a small place, it felt very familial. If you ever find yourself in Utopia, I'd recommend this place to stay!

It's right on the Sabinal River, and is a many-generational family-owned business. Clean, comfortable, great beds, and country stylish, the folks that run the place aim to please and enjoy serving their guests. Brandi is sharp, charming and truly cares. First day we made ourselves some coffee, and relaxed from travel by spending the morning sitting on the deck, watching the hummingbirds and cardinals at the feeders, and a variety of other birds flitting through the trees. Peaceful. One in our group made a point to swim by the dam in the river a couple of times, and enjoyed speaking with some of the folks who were fishing. The kitchens are well-outfitted, and the rooms have dining tables for comfortable eating, or card and board games! There's also a pool table and a barbecue, which we made good use of. A lot of care has been put into creating a comfortable relaxed environment. Highly recommended. A worthy place to get away from routine. Feels like home.

We decided to make a staycation out of it by booking a room and enjoying the bar and restaurants. NO REGRETS! If every San Antonian knew about this place, nobody out of town would ever get in! Our experience began with the greeting from the front desk clerk desk attendant, Jacob. He was awesome! Super attentive to our needs, friendly, and personable. At the spa, Our massage therapists were top rate! Roxi and Sera were very responsive to our aches and pains. We came in wound up and left ready to relax. Back at the hotel, the bar tenders are definitely skilled mixologists. Eric makes a mean Manhattan, his specialty is an old fashioned, but I saw everyone enjoying all the other drinks he made as well! Antlers Lodge is something special! The chef, Joseph Lambert, and his staff at the restaurant are masters of their craft! So humble but so masterful. The food was as top flight as any restaurant we have had in at the best New York restaurants or abroad... and this place truly represents San Antonio at its elevated best.

If you're the type to laze by a river, and you've already got a room here, absolutely check it out, BUT dont spend 75/piece to tan here. If youre not taking kids don't do it! You do not get access to where you can actually swim, nothing gets deeper than 3 feet. You do not get access to the new "lagoon" area. There are no changing rooms, and only 2 restrooms for all the people there. If you dont want to trek your wet self through the lobby to your car, you'll be changing in 1 of the restroom stalls. If you are taking kids, trust me.....get the sea world passes and a meal pass, the cost is the same and everyone will have a lot more fun!!!
