I'd never dealt with this kind of issue, and emotionally, it's a lot, after having just purchased a home and then finding all these things wrong with it, worrying about the potential effects it could have on your family's health, not to mention paying for all these people involved to fix it. There's the air hygienist (who needs to retest, too), the mold remediation team, the air duct cleaners, water proofers, contractors to repair all the cuts in the house, and you'll probably want house cleaners, too, for good measure. We're talking thousands and thousands. When looking for mold remediation, I started with the list my air hygienist gave me and reached out to three companies who had the best reviews online. I'm so grateful First Priority was on that list. David was the only person who took the time to discuss the issue on the phone and help me try to understand what was going on. I felt immediately better just chatting with him. The others just scheduled times to come by and gave quotes, and during their visits, they couldn't answer basic questions ("I'm just a consultant"), or they were trying to upsell and get us to contract out the repair work when we hadn't even figured out the mold problem! I had to wait a while to get appointments but it was worth having someone who really understood my concern and took it as seriously as I did. For those who have ever dealt with water damage and mold, you know it is an incredibly stressful situation that upends your life. So I wish we had met David under better circumstances, but I'm so glad we found him to do the mold remediation. His meticulous attention to detail, experience, and knowledge alone is enough to hire him, but in addition, he comes recommended by independent highly regarded mold testing/environmental professionals. In addition to all of the above, David is incredibly hard working and did everything he could to accommodate us. We have a lot of allergies in our family so David brought in an extra air scrubber and left all 3 air scrubbers with us to help us out during the re-construction process. He absolutely did not have to do that. He also didn't have to leave up the containment barrier for the re-construction phase, but he did. Because that is the kind of person he is! And because we were in such a bind, David put us in touch with folks to do the re-construction, etc. and helped us managed that process. Unfortunately, I was very dissatisfied with the outcome--my siding was left streaked and uneven. When I contacted the company, I was told this was due to oxidation and sun exposure. They claimed the washing removed the oxidation, but the issue would "even out" over time. Apparently, if someone stands too close with a high-pressure hose, the oxidation can be removed unevenly. The company offered to return and rewash the affected side, which I agreed to. However, I couldn't help but notice that the technician had a child with him, who was holding the hose on the exact area of the siding that was damaged. The first area they washed was the side with the issues, and the rest of the house was fine. I'm not sure if the child was the technician's son, but the coincidence of this happening while someone unqualified was handling the hose doesn't sit right with me. When I mentioned the child to the manager, Brandon immediately became defensive and asked how old the kid was, insisting they sometimes have interns. Fine, but it sure feels like my siding got ruined because an unqualified person did the work. After waiting a full week for the company to follow up on their offer to fix the damage, I reached out to them myself--five business days later--only to wait another four days for a response. When I finally got a call back, they told me they had sent someone to my house to take pictures and assess the damage but never bothered to ring my doorbell. So, I had no chance to discuss what could be fixed. They also admitted they weren't interested in fixing the problem because I'd posted a negative review. Apparently, that's enough to cancel any attempts at customer service. When we did finally speak, the manager reiterated the same excuse--that the pattern was caused by the removal of oxidation and would eventually fade, but also warned it would appear again when I had my house washed in the future. In other words, it's permanent. And when things escalated, the manager insulted my home, saying I had "cheap siding" and that I don't take care of my property--despite the fact that I've had it power washed three times in eight years. So, apparently I'm a negligent homeowner for expecting the service to be done properly. The manager also told me that "the customer isn't always right," which, sure, I get it--but that doesn't give anyone a free pass to be rude, dismissive, and defensive. All I wanted was for the company to live up to its initial offer to fix the issue, but instead, I got insults and zero accountability. I never asked for a refund--just for the streaky, damaged siding to be fixed. Instead, I was treated with disrespect at every turn. In the end, this company not only failed to provide a solution but also proved to be unprofessional and insulting. Their refusal to take any responsibility, combined with their rude and defensive attitude, makes it clear that they have no respect for their customers. I would strongly recommend avoiding this business. They don't care about customer satisfaction, and they definitely don't know how to handle complaints, as evidenced by the defensive responses they post to every negative review. Customers beware!
