These folks are really good. Was pleased with a brake job they did, so took my car back for an intermittent problem with the A/C. Of course a problem that only shows up sometimes is the most difficult one to diagnose and fix. This is my second time writing a detailed review as I accidentally deleted the first one during proofreading, which should speak to the level of displeasure I have with this business and their service. Not to mention this is my first ever review I have brought my '01 Tacoma here roughly half a dozen times since I purchased it at the beginning of 2023 from my grandma, who had just previously replaced most of the parts with her mechanic herself. Not once following a service here have I driven my truck for more than 500 miles without another (sometimes the exact same) issue arising. The following events occur from 10/13/23 to 2/29/24, less than a five month window. The first time I took my truck into Rio Rancho Imports, which for brevity's sake will be abbreviated as RRI from here on, was because of a Check Engine warning. I was charged for an in-house diagnostic, which revealed identical codes to the free diagnostic AutoZone gave me up the street, P0441 and P0450 (purge flow errors), and was told I needed to replace my heater hose, a $140 part. Less than 300 miles later, the check engine light comes back on. I take my truck back to RRI, following another trip to AutoZone, showing that error P0450 persists. I am again charged an in-house diagnostic, and told to replace my entire vacuum solenoid, resulting in a fee just under $400. After having my truck at RRI for about five days, my check engine light finally turns off, but during an oil change, the employee points out a coolant leak to me. I ask him to do a quick inspection and he sees nothing of serious concern, and noted he believes the hose may just be loose, although he is not positive of the source of the leak. Now, following two separate services, my truck was still having issues. However, being admittedly ignorant when it comes to vehicles and automotive parts, I trusted the mechanics at RRI would have my best interest in mind, so I took my truck back to RRI. This now feels like a mistake. I was told I had a crack in my radiator, and it must be completely replaced, an $800+ service. Trusting the mechanic, I agreed to the service. I've since been told I could have gotten this same service done for 3/4 of the price elsewhere, if it was ever even needed in the first place. Unsurprisingly, following this service, my truck was still leaking coolant. Thankfully, I had more knowledgeable friends take a look at it, and they fixed the issue by simply sliding the hose around the fittings and retightening them. This speaks to the lack of diligence and carelessness of this business, and if I didn't learn from my previous mistakes, I'm sure RRI would've likely gouged me for another part replacement when in reality the source of the issue was a very simple fix. After $1200+ and cumulative weeks without my vehicle, I feel it should be a reasonable expectation for my truck to run with no issue, but that's not enough for this place. This place has left me with lighter pockets, and the feeling of being taken advantage of and misguided. At best, the quality and value of the work here is questionable. At worst, this is one of those stereotypical "scummy, untrustworthy mechanics who price gouge the naive" that everyone's Uncle warns them about. Frankly, a business bearing the name of my hometown and being such a disappointment is shameful. I couldn't recommend this business less. Needless to say I will not be coming back here. We took our volvo into another repair shop. We were told that they didn't have the tools to work on our vehicle. I then called Rio Rancho imports and asked the gentleman if they had the tools to work on my vehicle. I told him what happened at the other shop. I was told yes they do. We made an appointment, took it in, then were called saying what the issue was and they don't have the tools to work on it. When picking up the vehicle I explained again that the only reason why we took the vehicle to them was because I was told they had the tools to work on it. The gentleman apologized but still charged us a diagnostic fee. The owner sent my husband a text asking how the service went. I replied telling him what happened. He apologized. We then took the vehicle to a 3rd repair shop, Independent volvo services. They were able to repair the vehicle without any special tools. They said some of the volvo models need a special tool but ours did not. My husband called the owner at Rio Rancho imports. He again apologized but didn't refund our diagnostic fee. read more

The transmission on my 2015 Subaru Outback self-destructed, a not totally unique experience for that year's model. Jason was kind enough to suggest I call Subaru Corporate Customer Advocacy and got the number for me. Randy looked through all the service reports back to the day I first brought in the car for maintenance to be sure they hadn't missed something. As Garcia Subaru North couldn't be bothered to return my three calls for them to inspect the transmission, which Corporate had made a condition for any financial help, I gave up on the possibility of their paying for some of the repair costs on an new Subaru transmission. Instead I agreed for R.R.Imports to put in the rebuilt one they had located for me. When I called to give them the okay to go ahead with the work, Katie had the parts guy order it right away. They did the whole job for less than their initial estimate and faster than they had promised. They saved me the thousands of dollars that a dealership repair would have cost--even the guy at Corporate had warned me if I took their offer, it would most likely cost more than if I let R.R. Imports do it. I couldn't be more pleased with their work not to mention how they always go above and beyond what a customer expects. read more

I didn't ask you to stay late, no one attempted to say to me, your car isn't going to be ready for a while, could we drive you home and you pick it up tomorrow. I WAS LIED TO and you don't feel bad about that at all, because you treated me like crap. #2 I DID YELL! It was well deserved. #3 I was offered a donut. Sorry I don't find a donut to be an appropriate subsitute for dinner. You don't know me, you don't know if I'm diabetic or what, so if you think that makes your company not responsible for how I was treated, you are SO WRONG! #4 You LIED and told my father I was offered a ride 2 hours prior to you speaking to him. I was not even at your shop 2 hours before then, so it's a LIE! I was offered a ride 10 minutes before that conversation, and I responded no, I need my vehicle for tomorrow. AGAIN no one said, it's not going to be ready for a couple hours, I was told "a few more minutes." #5 My father paid the bill, and that has nothing to do with this situation. I paid my father back every cent of that bill, because IT IS MY VEHICLE. My father will not be dealing with you in regards to my vehicle. My father is not authorized to sign any paperwork for my vehicle. IT IS MY VEHICLE! You don't seem to get that or care. MINE, not my father's. And you feeling the need to point out my dad helped me out and paid for it until I can pay him back, shows what little respect you had for me as a customer! And I will say it, you probably treat all your young female customers that way. If the warranty isn't valid for me, and I have a problem, we'll go to court. He dropped me off with it thinking it wouldn't be an issue. I was told the shop didn't accept checks so I called my dad and let him know. My dad came back and paid with his debit card. Seems you like to focus on the fact that I didn't pay for it and my dad helped me. I must be the first person to ever have assistance paying for repairs at your shop. I have no problem admitting I had help. My dad paid in full, I paid him back. It's called a LOAN! They offer these things the bank but charge interest. My dad is nice and since I'm his daughter doesn't charge interest. If I had gotten a loan at the bank your responsibility would be to the car owner, that would be ME! My dad gave me a loan, and guess what Randy, you're still responsible to the car owner, again, that would be ME! You fixed my car, not my dad's. If I get some random shmuck on the street to pay for repairs, it's not his car, IT'S MINE! You are nothing but an ignorant person running a repair shop. I just had a simple job (oil and filter change) on my 2001 Audi A6, and was very pleased to find the staff were knowledgeable about AUDI recommendations and requirements for engine oils and maintenance requirements. Service was performed quickly and correctly. Of note, there was no attempt to upsell on either parts or labor. I brought my own oil and filter which is a practice some shops don't like, but that wasn't a problem here. Technician noted there was some minor corrosion on the battery terminal, but correctly recommended that no action was required at this time. Service bays were clean and orderly. Technicians were observed to work efficiently. Workplace morale appeared to be good. In short, I'll be back and that's the highest recommendation I can make. read more

I recently took my car to Rio Rancho Imports and got the spark plugs changed on a 2011 BMW 328i xdrive. When I picked up the the car, there were numerous warning lights indicating I had four flat tires and needed an oil service. I just put four new tires and had the oil changed about a month prior to taking it in. They told me my car needed to be serviced and when I showed them the receipts for the service they said they could not remove the warnings because they were no sure that that the place I took it to was a trusted mechanic. The place that serviced my vehicle was the Valvoline store on Coors and Montano and the service sensor was reset when I got my oil changed; I made sure of it. My girlfriend and I will not be taking our cars to them anymore. We feel they do not know what they are doing and they charge as much as the dealership. I don't like writing reviews but I don't want our community to be taken advantage of. read more

I read the reviews for Rio Rancho Imports and was impressed by the reviews I found. I selected them to inspect my 1998 Mercedes SLK230 for fluid leaks I found. They performed a thorough inspection on the car and recommended what needed to be repaired immediately and what could be repaired later. The estimate was fair and did not change when I picked the car up. I found an additional oil leak that was hard to detect. When they found the leak, they took me to the car and gave a very detailed explanation on where the leak was coming from and what it would take to repair it. Very disappointed with workmanship. They charged me $1,948 to not repair what I took in for. Lol... Crazy how this shop will let cars go out like this!!!! My car is making same loud clanking noise that they said they would fix. And talked me into other issues that needed to be addressed. Stupid me!!! I do not recommend this shop to anyone who needs work on their better cars such as a VW Toureg. They can't do it, I don't know why they say they can. I will not change my review til they fix my car without charging me more!!! I think I paid enough for what I thought would only be a drive shaft. They changed A-Arms and did an alignment supposedly, my steering wheel is cock eyed to the right (Not Level) my steering wheel was level when I took it in and was aligned perfect. Guess the A-Arms are as crooked as this business. Terrible work guys!!! So let's see how much more money they will want for not fixing problem in the first place. It's the day before Christmas Eve couldn't take car back because I work to much. So hopefully these guys will call me back after Christmas!!! If they don't call me back then this review stands!!! Our car started, but every electrical alert appeared on the dash. The car was unable to be driven. I called Randy at 4:00pm and he came with the tow truck within 15 minutes. I got a call the next day that they were still diagnosing it, as it was not very straightforward. Later, I got another call with the diagnosis and estimate. Mice had a feast on the electrical wires that run everything in the car. Randy and his team had the car fixed and as good as new within 24 hours of picking it up. I just had another amazing experience today with the guys down at Rio Rancho Imports. I was referred to them about a year or so ago. These guys truly are the best! They are very honest and upfront about their findings and they always give you multiple options based on time, cost, and availability of parts. Eddie and Jason are always the friendly faces I see when I walk in and it's like family. Nick is the driver who graciously gives rides if they have to keep your car and he's very personable. I also like that they are respectful of people waiting. I've never heard them speak negatively about other customers or even use bad language. That's integrity to me and that's important! The mechanics always do a stellar job and when I get back into my car it's never messy or out of order from them working on it. The fact that they have respect for small things like that shows me that they are dealing with the rest of my car the same way. I haven't lived in Rio Rancho for very long, so I was pleased to find this place to service my Toyota. First time I visited RRI, I thought I needed new brake pads. They carefully inspected my car for any maintenance and safety concerns. They addressed my worries and I was fully satisfied with their attention and care for my car. When my car's brake pads were worn down and my car started making a faint brushing/grinding noise, I had no doubt where I would have it serviced - RRI! They diagnosed a bearing failure in the water pump and replaced the front brake pads. I feel much safer driving nowband truly appreciated their analysis and repair of my vehicle. My only sadness is that I am moving away out of state and won't have an opportunity to return. Can I add a 6th star to this review? read more

This was my first visit to Rio Rancho Imports. I was very impressed at their service. I own a VW, and any German car owner will tell you that not just anyone can work on our cars. It was nice to see a local, family owned shop that specializes in European vehicles. After reading the review from Carol R., I was a bit apprehensive about the shop. I checked out their reviews on Google too and they looked good. I decided not to judge based on 1 poor review. ... Boy, am I glad I decided to try them. I also have a Chrysler mini-van and it was nice to see that they will work on all makes and models. They use top quality parts. Their technicians proudly have their ASE certifications and credentials on display in the waiting area (comforting to know they are properly trained). What I liked best is that they are local and family owned/operated. The owner & his wife were present and working in the office. I was able to share some car talk with Randy, the owner, which was refreshing. Their son , Jason, handled my paperwork and addressed my concerns with my vehicle. He displayed the same level of professionalism, knowledge and courtesy as any service adviser I have dealt with at a dealership. As far as pricing, they are very reasonable and accommodating. A good value! As a German car owner , I am very diligent about the level of service and care of my vehicles. I wont skimp out for some 29.95 oil change. I drive a great car and want to do my best to ensure its longevity and reliability. These folks helped to see that I got the service I wanted at a price I felt was very fair. Extremely disappointing service for the money spent. I normally take my cars to the dealerships to get the work done. Having moved to the west side I was looking for a small business automotive shop that I could support with some work and save some money in the process. I searched the internet for a shop and found Rio Rancho Imports, There were several good reviews on the shop so I went to their website to see what services they offered. I looked at Rio Rancho Imports website and their mission statement said 1. "It is our goal to provide dealer level automotive service and maintenance in a timely manner at a reasonable price." 2. "We believe that it is never cheaper to do it twice, than it is to do it right the first time." I took my vehicle to them for repair and unfortunately they did not deliver on either statement. They broke something else while doing the original repair and then it took them two weeks to repair the problem they created. Most of the two weeks was waiting for the part ordered but if the work had been done right the first time this would never have happened. I ended up taking my vehicle back to the dealer which ended up costing me more money. If you want Dealer level automotive service my advice is to go to the Dealer. read more

Randy, the owner, came to my house with his tow truck and hauled my classic Mustang back to his shop. This occurred in the late morning and I received a call from them in the mid-afternoon and my car was ready for pick up. Since I didn't have a ride, Jason sent the shop's courier to give me a ride back to their shop. When I arrived, automotive technician Travis showed me the work he had done by installing an ignitor in my distributor and my Mustang fired right up. Jason had to search various businesses to obtain the exact ignitor I wanted to have installed as I had already installed a specific coil for the ignitor. The cost of the installation was lower than what I had expected and I drove my Mustang home. Their customer service is outstanding and their workmanship is impeccable. I am on a first-name basis with most of the technicians there and I am always greeted when I arrive. What Randy did for me last Friday was incredible and I am so appreciative of the time and effort it took to get my Mustang to his shop and get my car running again. He went above and beyond my expectations. I highly recommend this automotive repair shop for all of your vehicle needs. read more

Rate it 0 stars. I took my car a 1999 A6 Audi in to Rio Rancho Imports for repairs. My car had a small oil leak coming from the valve cover gaskets and timing chain cover, They gave me an estimate of $835 parts and labor, to fix the oil problem. I approval the $835.00 for the repairs They called me the next day and told me to come and get my car, that the oil leak was fixed. The very next day, there was a half quart of oil on the floor in my garage, so I took it back to Rio Rancho Imports so they could stand by their supposed guarantee, I was told the new oil leak that just popped up over night would cost another $1600 to fix. If I had known in the first place, that it would have cost me almost $2400.00 to repair my car, I would have sold it or traded the car in on a new car or something. As it is now my oil leak is 10 times worse then when I took it to them. I am out $835.00. And now there is a dent in one of the car doors that they put in it too. Randy's team has worked on my car several times. I have not had any issues with their work. I like the way they tell you any work that maybe on the horizon but doesn't need to be doesn't right away. I have 177K on my car, it has helped me budget and get the maintenance done so the car keeps running. They use OEM parts and give an all over inspection every time. The only thing that kept me from a 5 star rating is on a couple of occasions I've called the shop for information on my car before they have had a chance to get back to me about my car. I'm not sure if I was being pushy or they are slow on the communication. read more
