I Had my car at my mechanic earlier in the day, he did a diagnostic on my car and said alternator was going out so I scheduled the next day to have it replaced for $329.00 My mechanic had alternator with life time guarantee and 1/2 hr install , well I didn't make it home died in RR, SB says they have free towing so they towed it and replaced the Alternator for $640.00 they charged me $450 ish for the alternator, caught red handed doubling the price of alternator on me, I have it on paper. I have quote from Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, and my mechanic for OEM alternator for around $250.00 read more

Went here a couple years ago, to get my transmission looked at, not only did they hold my car for Months with 0 update. They also damaged the side of it with their forklift then tried to tell us that it "came like that" it didn't. My car had slight damage sure, but not two forklift divets in it. Car spent months there, no updates, when asked for updates they "hadn't gotten to it yet" then charged like 1500$ for their "diagnostic" cause there was "a short in the system they 'couldnt' find. So, they'll stab your car with a forklift, blame you, charge you for your car sitting there for months then tell you that since they couldn't fix it, no one in New Mexico can so you're shit out of luck. Went to this place for a brake issue as was recommended by a friend and wanted a new shop closer to home. I knew I had some sort of rotor warping due to steering wheel wobbling and thought I was probably due for brake pads. Also had my brake pedal drop while going over a speed bump. Went to Southern Blvd Auto and they quoted $3,700 for an Anti-lock brake unit, a new master cylinder, and brake lines all of which I did not need. Went to another place that bled the lines to fix the pedal issue and turned my front rotors and replaced my brake pads all for less than $500. I had to pay Southern Blvd $200 for the faulty diagnostic work to pick up my car. Will never return and would not recommend them to anyone! This place did not deserve the one star rating. read more

I'm giving 3 stars because they were all very nice people as far as I remember and as far as I know they did their job ok but every time that I've gone to them for anything from an oil change (because I don't want to mess it up by doing it myself) to my dive shaft or whatever it was that broke and was messed up on a previous car, I've been overcharged and taken advantage of. The previous car id taken to them had sort of broken down after I'd run over a curb and I went in to get my alignment fixed and some new tires because it was no longer driving straight and had the spare tire on, they tried to tell me that I needed to get my rack and pinion replaced, but then when I'd next talked to them they'd changed their mind saying that it needed a new fuel pump or other part. Which to me is kind of suspicious but what do I know, I'm just some woman trying to get my alignment or oil change done, the most recent time I'd gone, I'd taken it to get my oil change done and then all they'd asked me was if I'd wanted my air filter changed, wiper fluid refilled and to do a rotation + check if my breaks needed anything, they never asked if I wanted them to do any other diagnostics on my car but they still did and then charged me way too much for said diagnostics. And then when they'd finished with all of that, they tried to tell me I needed all new motor mounts because the exhaust was out of place and had torn and stretched them which according to them would cost $1,800 to replace, so I declined to have that work done as I like most people am not rich and don't have all the money in the world to be worrying about that at this moment in time, but when I finally got an appointment with the very high rated and trusted company I'd purchased the vehicle from, they said that there's nothing wrong with the motor mounts, only the exhaust being out of its holder thing which is apparently an easy fix, which again makes me question what their motives were at Sourhern Blvd Auto. Like I've said before they're very nice people especially the wonderful woman, I believe her name was Kathleen, but I'm not sure I'll be returning to them any longer due to they're overpricing of everything, and I no longer trust their judgment. read more

I recently had an issue with the battery light and the service charging system warnings intermittently coming on when driving, as a Retired Service Consultant I know this type of diagnosis can be like chasing your tail attempting to locate the cause. This place is absolutely the worst place I have ever delt with. In the first place they took a long time to even look at my truck,Then gave me an estimate which included a part that cost $399.00- well the total bill was $960.00 and they could not figure out what was wrong with my vehicle so when I finally was able to pick up my truck they had it so long and spent so many hours on it that they altered the bill and it didnt have that expensive part on there anymore and most of the money I was charged was labor and then they lied to me about "why" the bill was different.Also two days later after I picked up my truck it over heated and when I opened the hood the radiator cap was off and I hadnt opened that hood in over a month.Long story short my truck was ruined and I had to buy another truck.DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR OR TRUCK TO THIS SECOND RATE SHOP!!!!! read more

I took my car in after accident, There was several on board fault errors. My insurance company decided due to what Southern was claiming the car may be totaled and I needed have it diagnosed by a preferred company. Sent the car to dealership, they patched a wire, which southern claimed was totally damaged and unrepairable. The wire patch to sensor fixed all the codes, and the dealership charged $400. Southern intentionally lied about needing a new muffler, steering angle sensor, and several other issues. Southern quoted me $3500 when the dealership fixed the issue for $400. I have paper work from both places. This company is corrupt and will intentionally try to rip you off. I was a repeat customer, not anymore. read more

We were loading our RV and getting it ready for the races, we had to take it down to get gas and dump it when we noticed we had no running lights. We were coming down the road and we saw Southern Blvd. Automotive and there was a car still there. We drive in and asked if they were still open and if they could help us. The guy told us that he was just closing up the shop but he would look at it and see if it was a simple fix and if it was he would help us get it fixed. Sure enough it was just a fuse that had blown and he fixed it for us and got us back on the road with lights. Here is our testimony. We live in Southern California, 780 miles away. My young son, an active duty military man, was driving alone on Hwy I-40 in June. Never could I expect that my son would encounter a major mechanical problem with his good running, low-mileage CIVIC. To me, NM is a foreign land; the only person I knew who lived there is Pastor SKIP HEITZIG on the radio I listen to. We did not know where to tow the car. We checked a dozen high-starred mechanic shops in surrounding Rio Rancho areas, listed in YELP and read their reviews too. We were desperately seeking a help in distress. We towed his car to John's garage and learned that the engine had serious damage. This Civic was the first car that he bought with his money last summer for $4,500 from my neighbor. Our three options were: either to get it repaired in a foreign land, NM; to find a buyer 'As Is' in NM; or to tow it to CA. We eventually exhausted all three options. How? God closed every door every time we were about to proceed to repair, sell, or transport it on our means. All failed and did not get materialized for good reasons, thanks to God. He answered to our prayer, when we relied on His Help, that His way is not our way. Psalm 118:5-7 We do NOT live in NM, therefore, there will be absolutely no chance for John to get business from us in the future. Nonetheless, John stored the car securely for two months since June - when he could have said, "Get rid of your car, or else we will dump the car at the impound lot, etc." John never talked us into get it repaired at his shop or sell it to him. Horrible customer service is DEFINITELY the norm! I have used them on three different occasions through the years since I'm a block away. I forget how awful they are and give them another shot for the convenience of having them close by. I am dealing with them AS I TYPE THIS, and I'm having issues. I told my wife that next time I tell her I'm going to Southern Boulevard Automotive instead of Sonny's, whom I usually use, to just to punch me in the face instead. The problem isn't that they won't fix your car, it's that they will NOT NOT NOT communicate with you whatsoever. They won't call you to authorize work. They won't call you to give you an update. They won't call you when it's done. Once your car is in their possession, you do not exist anymore. Your new hobby is getting your car back. They've had my car since Tuesday morning. It is now Friday afternoon. I still get nothing but the brush-off and runaround when I call. ("Let me check. We'll call you right back.") I am going there tonight after work and I am leaving with my car, whether it's fixed or not. How nice they are will decide whether they get paid or not. I feel really betrayed by this business. I got charged well over 550.00 to change my oil plan gasket and fix a problem with hard shifting. I picked up the truck and it was still shifting hard. A few months later, my truck began leaking oil again. I called, talked to the owner and he assured me the leak wasn't from the replaced gasket. The shifting problem he said he would look at if I left my truck there again. I figured he would charge me more, so I didn't return. I then took my truck to Dox automotive and they confirmed that the wrong gasket was installed and the wrong silicone sealant was used, creating a big mess. Southern Blvd. Automobile is a lousy, low quality and high price garage that does inferior work and is hypocritical. Recently I got a fuel pump replaced by them, and they charged me $500 plus for a $150 part and 10 minutes of labor; the pump is a bolt on item in a very accessible spot; basically its replacement involves three or four threaded fasteners, and presto, it's on. Their price included a $80 diagnostic fee (though I'd told them that it was the fuel pump--it's a pretty easy diagnosis; you can hear the fuel pump cycle on when you first partially turn the ignition key if it's working; if it is not, there's no sound). This overpriced repair was bad enough. But worse followed. This "worse" happened the first time I drove the van after getting it home from the shop. Then, I discovered--after the van died on me on a public road--that they had not tightened down the electrical contacts or the strap that holds on the pump, or the hose clamps that stop fuel from leaking. Avoid these people. The fact that they have lots of Christian literature in their waiting room is basically false advertising; they charge too much and are slapdash and inefficient, values that the Christian gospel does not support. Basically, they are dishonest, out for the bucks alone, and do really, really lousy (verging on unsafe) work. Buyer beware. Go to another garage; not to this one. And tell them I did not send you! read more

CUSTOMER BEWARE: My daughters car had front brake problems so I recommended Southern BLVD Automotive. I went with her to drop the car off and since she was way overdue for an oil change I asked how much for the oil change and was quoted $31. When I went to pick up the car there were extra charges: $3.29 for an oil filter which I thought was included in the oil change, $26 for an air filter I didn't ask for.....and Cody has the audacity to argue with me telling me it's the "Gold premium " filter or some crap and that they installed it. Then another $20 for a cabin filter I didn't ask for and they wanted like $10 to clean the battery terminals....all simple crap I do myself and pay way less for the parts at Walmart. I was very upset at this and let Cody know. He reluctantly removed the air filter and had already dealt with the cabin filter. And I'm no brake man, but for the front brakes and an oil change it was $810.....seems a bit pricey? At least at Jiffy Lube they show you the air filter and cabin filter and ask if you want them replaced!!! I'll never go back to a place that tried to rip me off for $26 on an air filter I did not ask for......I went and got one at Walmart for $10.............. read more

This is the worst place I have ever had work done on a vehicle. Every time I would check in on my car they would tell me I owed more money but then reassured me that it would be the most it could be but yet it still kept going up. They had my car for 6 months and this month I asked what the progress was on my car and they said they haven't even started on it so not only did they charge me WAY more then they promised they also weren't even working on my car. In the past year we've seen a great slump in the quality of service and have come to totally distrust them. Besides our own vehicle not getting proper service, we had our daughter's car in for repairs. They not only did not correctly identify the problem but caused more problems. She ended up losing a lot of money she had saved up for her education due to their dishonesty and misdiagnosies of such problems. My husband was able to finally fix the original problem for a low cost at home after being SOAKED by them. I have since heard a lot of previous customers saying the same thing! read more

Don't ever bring your car here. Most dishonest auto repair shop I have ever dealt with. My car only needed the ignition replaced, they didn't have to diagnose anything, all I needed is for them to order the parts and replace it. Its been over 3 weeks now and my car is sitting in their lot disassembled along with another 40-50 cars in their lot. If you don't have time to fix my car then don't give me the run around! I need that car to get to work and go to school. Its going to cost $700 dollars... I called the BMW dealership and they said they would of done it for less money and in less than a week! Its absurd, I feel ripped off and helpless....people like this need to be held accountable for their shitty and sketchy/shady business practices. AVOID this place. They use deceptive measures as you enter the door. I am always uncomfortable when business place the good housekeeping seal of Jesus on display. It is a sure sign that something is wrong. I called because my car would not stop and the offer free towing in Rio Rancho. While waiting for the tow truck I discovered that I just needed a new battery. When the driver arrives I explain that I did not need them but offered to pay the 35 dollar service charge. The driver tell me that if I want Southern Boulevard to fix it, he could tow it for the 35 dollars and I just need to pay for the new battery plus the cost of putting it in. I figure that seems fair. When I go to pick it up the total cost was 253.28! Why because the charged me a "diagnosis" charge of 85 dollars! I figured out what the problem was! As the owner explains to me, (with Jesus talk radio in the back ground) it sucks to be me. These people are crooks.
