Rio Valley Market looked like they typically had excellent produce and prepared food options. The staff there had lots of smiles. The store was arranged well in terms of produce, with fruit produce even nicely displayed outside. They had a decent selection and variety. I don't shop at this grocery store often. After today though I will. Even though I agree with all of the reviews the good and not so good. Saw and live the Wall of Disgrace. Photos of customers who leave without paying. I will gladly support a business that is fighting back. read more

Terrible customer service asking a question and manager on duty immediately took an attitude. Talked to me as if I could not understand basic English and refused to honor prices stated on signs. He wore glasses and was balding but I can not remember his name. read more

This store is absolutely disgusting. It is very dirty and needs professional cleaning. And now with limits they didn't want to honor their limits. Saw a sign saying 10 packs of tortillas only per customer cool I grabbed 10 and apparently i saw the only sign they didn't change and they didn't want to honor finally the manager honored it and said "yeah whatever" and I gave her paper back because I had to grab the paper she missed and show her to make her acknowledge she messed up. Rude customer service and telling the cashier she would get fired is beyond ridiculous from management. I hope that girl finds another job because threatening her job is not right. read more

If you're looking for some sodium-laden highly processed foods, you'll want to walk your butt over to Jewel. The two biggest sections in this store are produce and fresh meats. This was the only place that still had an abundance of fresh green beans at 99 cents a pound the day before Thanksgiving. The produce looks and smells fresh and they always have good sales going on. The poultry is always fresh and I usually drop by Rio Valley for chicken breasts when I'm in the mood for some cooking. read more

Love getting fresh produce for 1/4 the price of Jewel. If your picking up some coronas for a night summer day, swing by and get 20 limes for .98$! Or maybe your craving a nice watermelon that is actually ripe, .55$ a lb. I know some American's (non Spanish speaking) are intimated by coming in here, but the staff does speak English.. I know its crazy, in 2013 people can communicate in two languages! They are always very helpful, there have been a couple times it took another person to translate the word I was using, but they never seem annoyed they are always more than happy to help me find things. The only down fall, if you are looking for certain things like, lets just say, balsamic vinegar, I don't believe they would carry that here. All I have to say about this one is holy Novella (Spanish Soap Opera)! I felt like I was on Spanish 'Days of our Lives'. This is one of those places I would usually put my head down, get what I need then fly out of there but there is so much drama going on that I just can't. There is always something new everyday lol. Don't get me wrong the groceries are great and the fruit amazing.... pricing is good as well. This place gave me 'a first' (one of the good ones). One day I was feeling very Martha Stewart and was on a 'beef stew' extravaganza. This would then bring me to Rio Valley. I go here for my fruits and veggies not only because it's a few blocks away but the pricing is commendable. I grabbed most of my veggies and was on to the cauliflower.... as I was placing it in my cart something moved and caught my eye... can you believe it... a FROG... yes a frog was wrapped into the cauliflower!! Well after I almost had heart failure (while wondering "who put that there") I found one guy who worked there and showed him. I swear you would think this happens all the time to this man because with a straight stern face he just grabbed it and threw it in the trash. Poor frog . (I would have saved it but I'm all of 4 ft 11in so I myself would have had to be saved lol). Now on to the peeps behind the scene.... the men there are very friendly.... it's not every day you can get heckled and told how beautiful you are buy 10 men in one spot... unless you're on the bachlorette. (minus all the swapping spit but a great confidence booster) Now that's not even the problem... mine is more with the lack of communication due to translation barriers. AAAAAAAAAAAAA HELP!!!! Then you approach the cashiers with their penciled-in brows and attitudes like I should know Spanish if I want to shop there... (here's a little secret... i do) but why should I tell them that.... humph. I just think to myself "well I never... in my life" (while holding my pointer finger up like grandma use to lol) Bag boys are sweet and helpful (had to give them a well deserved plug lol) This is a good place to shop.... their hot prepared foods in the back are very yummy especially Carnitas mmm... yum. There is also a tamale lady outside I also recommend. I'm for sho going back... maybe next time with a shoe box so I can bring a pet home.... This is my favorite spot for fresh veggies and meat because the prices are beyond reasonable. What's the catch? The cashiers. They are rude, but I understand. No place is gonna be perfect. This lady rung up my lettuce for romaine lettuce at 1.29/lb but regular lettuce was 0.99/lb. it wasn't worth arguing about this morning so I let it slide. Don't let the service take away from your shopping experience here though. The prices are worth it! read more

The produce in here is beautiful, and the deli/butcher smells like a deli should-clean. No smell. The prices are great.
