Rise and Grind used to be my favorite spot, I would go to them exclusively. Unfortunately, they recently changed their POS system and their rewards. Now everything is a little more expensive and the rewards don't feel rewarding. The tipping point that made me write an update is that they charge almost full price for drip coffee refills. Even starbucks offers refills on regular old black coffee. My husband used to enjoy going in to work on college or read so it was sad to not be able to refill his coffee. The espresso is still good (usually) and the pastries are good. The food items are also tasty. The seating and overall vibe is wonderful, and the workers are nice (the older staff are my fave tho!). They are still my favorite for a london fog, but I stop by less often now. read more

I love the matcha lattes here with the seasonal flavor combos they recommend. The baristas are always super friendly and sweet and the drinks come out quick. My only complaint is that it took 20+ minutes for my breakfast sandwich to come out. It has taken this long or longer on previous visits, too. This time, it was not crowded and only one other couple ahead of me had ordered food. I saw one guy was the one bringing the food out and I wouldn't be surprised if he was making it all himself, too, so maybe they are understaffed on that end. I discovered a hidden gem during our vacation in Oahu, located in Kailua. While parking is limited, the short walk to this cozy spot is well worth it. We enjoyed an iced Hawaiian latte and an iced coconut milk matcha, both of which were delightful and flavorful. The Hawaiian latte had the perfect balance of coffee and milk, and I couldn't resist adding a blueberry scone to my order--it was absolutely delicious. Hadn't been here in a while and thought I would stop in with some of my family and it's even better! Got to try the different scones, which were fabulous! They now have a brand new breakfast and lunch menu with a diner connected to the main café. The menu looks amazing, with reasonable prices!! We will be back because my family loved it too! And the coffee....perfect! I had a decaf Hawaiian specialty flavor, half sweet. Yum!!! and the workers there are always the sweetest! But first....coffee please. I love me a good latte and Rise & Grind did not disappoint. I first discovered this place when they were at the Farmers Market. It's been great watching them grow into this cute and aesthetic coffee shop that is perfect for hanging out. The decor include a photo wall, and a book room with comfortable chairs. BThe lattes are under are under $10 and offer I size for iced drinks. I really like that they offer house - made syrups. I believe it rotates out seasonally. Right now they offer a pumpkin syrup (house-made). My favorites are the banana and blueberry house made syrups. The blueberry lavender latte is offers the right amount of both flavors. I wasn't looking for a new coffee place to go but literally made an illegal u turn once I saw their signage ! What a perfect little getaway! It's snuggled into a small row of buildings next to the Shell station. Parking will be a challenge but there's a small garage next to McDonalds which will take you 70 seconds to walk. It's dog friendly so bring your fur babies! Otherwise, the place is wonderfully appointed to where it feels homey. Definitely on par with any cafe you'll find in Southern Cal. One of the best parts was the friendly staff. I came in a little giddy and she was super patient and explained they baked all their own food (except the danish) and suggested the best thing in the menu- The Bacon Me Crazy sandwich. 10/10 Happy to have this part of my rotation! I ordered the summer special: a banana pancake latte made with in-house banana syrup and a hint of maple. It was a tad sweet but one of the best banana-based lattes I've had on the island! The banana flavor was strong so highly recommend if you enjoy bananas. read more

I really needed coffee and searching around Kailua, I saw Rise & Grind. I was first introduced to them at the Kaka'ako farmers market. They are in a space that use to have another coffee shop in it that was pretty cool! I got one of their signature coffee drinks, the Hawaiian...macnut, coconut, and vanilla...soooooo good! I was around the area in Kailua and seen this place on Yelp. I'm so glad I chose to go here because I seen that they had my favorite coffee, Mac nut iced coffee. It was so so good. I did add another shot because I like my coffee strong. It was perfect. I also tried their banana nut bread muffin. It was super soft and I love how they add alot of walnuts in it. Plenty of room for a big or small group. I've been here a few times and tried their Hawaiian latte (Macnut and vanilla), a specialty drink around Christmas and today's: blueberry matcha! YUM! What a wonderful morning vibe spot! We were looking for a quiet cafe where we could sit and enjoy a good coffee. We knew we could get good coffee at Morning Brew down the street but the lines there are always ridiculous and it can get kinda noisy. We walked past a drive thru cafe with outdoor seating around the corner and knew that wasn't what we wanted either Then we found Rise & Grind. The ambience has a artsy, cute vibe but it's definitely a smaller cafe for people who just want to be. There's even nice outdoor seating in the back but unfortunately sometimes you'll smell cigarettes out there. No parking though. read more

Their food is great, their espresso is perfect, and I love the drink combinations and retail. It's more of a relaxed vibe inside so I wouldn't say super kid friendly but everyone was kind when I would bring my kids in with me for coffee and a snack. read more

Really cute and cozy coffee shop in Kailua. From the outside the cafe looks unassuming, but it's actually really spacious inside with lots of seating! I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and it was good. The matcha is automatically sweetened I believe. I also tried my boyfriend's iced oat milk latte and the coffee is great! This would be the perfect place to study/hangout as the coffee shop is fairly quiet. Parking is probably the only downside. I would recommend finding a nearby meter street stall. read more

Walking into their Kailua coffee bar there's certainly a lot of smiles all around and you just need to come give them a visit and experience it all to see and understand it all, the vibe here is just so warm and welcoming...well when there's a fun Instagram wall that' greets you at the door "Smile there's coffee" :-) you just know you're in for a treat. I immediately dove into their "Seasonal Flavors" and it was "Lavender Haze" though there's nothing confusing about this sip as the lavender and coconut sounds perfect though the barista had informed me that the espresso machine just went on a "haze" itself and offered me cold brew instead actually sounded nice! Excited to escape my adulting there's a lot of seating choices here including a few against the wall makes it great to work or catch up on life without being distracted or the teal super soft and plushy sofa besides another artsy wall "Wake Up with Aloha and Coffee" sounded like the place for me and gosh how nice is that! It's been a while since I was here, but I think I got the Mauna Loa latte with oat milk (caramel + macnut)! Coffee is most important meal of the day! Or so they (they as in me) say. This hole in the wall wedged in between Los Garcias and Ali'i Antiques of Kailua serves some amazing coffee, lattes, and matcha. The local joint itself gives off chill vibes where you can enjoy yourself and relax. You can either enjoy your drink indoors or outdoors. The staff are always friendly and very nice. There really isn't anything wrong about this place. It's nice, homey, and the drinks are delish! So far I had their matcha with strawberry and matcha with lavender. Both were SO delish and refreshing! I am definitely coming back to try out the rest of the menu. As for location, there is street parking around the area or if not there is a paid parking structure behind the building. One other plus to this local joint is that they are DOG FRIENDLY!!! Hurray for us doggo parents where we can take our cute little freeloaders to chill and spoil them with a puppicino. I also had the opportunity to hold my fur kid's 10th birthday here which was super nice of them. I was familiar with Rise & Grind because my mainland friend, Sue L., had patronized their Food Truck at the Kaka'ako Farmer's Market one Saturday morning. I ordered the same drink that Sue got: Iced Hawaiian. This coffee drink has a smooth blend of Macadamia Nut, Vanilla, and Coconut flavors. I got my refreshing beverage with Oat Milk - it was delicious! The staff members were very friendly! They warned me about parking in the driveway next to the building... And wouldn't you know it... One of the tenants was upset about my car blocking her vehicle. I moved immediately! I didn't get a chance to see the outside seating area... But I did see the convenient restroom and the comfy sofas inside... The parking would be the main obstacle for this business. I circled the block and saw only metered street parking. Little to no parking but the shop itself is so cute. They have different seating options and an outdoor patio. They also have game boards you can play while visiting. This has got to be one of the cutest coffee shops ever on this island. I wish it wasn't so far away! They are kind of on the main street where there is a walgreens and Zippys is in Kailua. I'm not sure if they have their own parking stalls, but i parked in the metered stalls nearby. It was a Sunday when i visited, so meter parking was free. They have a really cute Instagram-able interior and a very cute outdoor area. all of which was dog friendly and they were all for it! The prices of the coffee drinks were pretty affordable and they would totally make you a new drink or make any adjustments to it if needed. I do believe it is a husband and wife team and they just opened up their shop about a few weeks ago. The vibes are friendly and welcoming. I totally would come here again over other coffee shops in the area cause it's just that cute. I hope they do well in the neighborhood because they totally deserve it. read more

-Tried the iced latte (which only comes in 16oz) with "Hawaiian" flavor/sweetener which is macadamia/coconut/vanilla. It was really good! I'd say perfect sweetness. Husband got lemonade refresher with hibiscus refresher. He said it was pretty good. -Service was good. Had to wait a bit, but cashier acknowledged us at least that she'd be right with us. -Place is super cute and gives cozy vibes. It's not too loud or anything so seems like a place you can just relax. Some people were on their laptops, and I saw someone reading a book. So really seems like a nice place to hangout. -Only downside, for me personally, is no parking for the place. We had to park in a parking structure nearby, which was also 75 cents an hour. Not horrible, but it was also a couple minutes to walk over too.
