    Matcha Latte
    Taylor-Anne H.

Didn't want to leave this review but there's no number to call. I work in production and we had a large coffee order for delivery. I do not drink coffee....I noticed that online it forces you to choose a shot (does not say coffee) to complete the order. I realized when it got here that it as a dirty matcha after taking a sip, I'm disgusted and have had a headache ever since. Please fix you online order system through uber Uber Eats. Us matcha drinkers are so disappointed today

Rise & Grind Coffee is between Fire Wings & Merritt House. Awhile ago, Merritt Restaurant & Bakery was here. Seating available in Merritt House section. No distinguishing decor. Quick service by single associate. Coffee Ready in minutes. Offerings: Specialities (latte, matcha, cold brew), tea lattes. Food, coffee.. Sips: drip coffee (lg. 3.75) "golden state blend" Mr. Expresso. Black-no sugar nor milk -initially tasted slightly harsh. Probably sat awhile after being brewed. Later sips Smoother, harshness gone. 3.5 stars large parking lot...

    Iced Black Sugar Latte

Absolutely one of my go to cafes. I love their Crème Brûlée & Iced Black Sugar latte, they are to die for! If you want a good sandwich, grab the BEC sandwich with the aioli. The workers are nice and welcoming. The atmosphere is nice, although they could definitely stand to have more seating.

How did I sleep on Rise and Grind Coffee for SO long? The breakfast sandwich is schmackin' -- this is my now-favorite place for this item! The bread is what stands out because it doesn't overpower the rest of the sandwich (some breads are too doughy or flavored) and lets the filling speak for itself while still being light and fluffy. This time I tried the Whopper Latte and Spicy Mocha Latte. Whoppers are pretty up there for me in terms of candy, but this would have been better as a hot drink because the whoppers weren't able to melt fully. I'm not a hot-drink person, but I'm willing to try it once (they also only offer iced drinks in once size). The SPICY MOCHA latte thoughhh!!! I LOVE spicy food, and usually when someone tells me they added spice to a drink, or a chocolate bar, it's not really there. But this drink has enough kick for me to notice it and that makes this place a 5 star coffee joint. Do NOT get me wrong, your mouth will definitely not burn and you won't be in pain, but it does have the flavor the name promises. Apparently it's also a bar at night? I went in the morning and there were a few people sprinkled about on the tables in the dark atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff were friendly enough, and nothing stuck out there.

There's a lot of options here. Your basic run of the mill options and a lot of different experimental options as well. The breakfast sandwich was good, but for sure messy. The girls at the counter were pretty nice, helpful with questions. Both times I went in it was fairly quiet in the morning. I can imagine it gets louder in the evenings though.

Yes - this place is LOVE 2 LOVE... super nice staff.

The staff was amazing. The chocolate croissant was super flaky and the chocolate was oozing out of every bite... note to self... these are messy don't eat a chocolate croissant wearing a white shirt. The seating was good and I was able to plug my lap top in and get into a few work meetings. What was a bit odd - which I did not investigate further - is that there is an open wall connection to the Wings place next door and half of the coffee shop was corded off for non-use and another section of what looked like a bar was also not being used. So when you walk in - you got wings on your right, coffee bar and pastries straight ahead and a bit to the upper right is unused space. Maybe this place transforms to something later in the day. They closed at 1pm which I had overlooked when I came in. The baristas were SUPER SWEET - they loved on every single person that came in. Multiple sets of firefighters, families with kids, even a disabled person with an electric wheel chair and a dog (who needed to be assisted after spilling their drink) - and me... all treated like royalty and family. Although I don't understand the set up inside... the coffee and hospitality were AMAZING.

Needed more early morning coffee so found this cute little place on YELP. I ordered the crème Brulé drink. Delicious. Service was quick and the location okay. Next time I would like to try one of their sandwiches they looked really good.

Since hubby was helping me drop off some stuff to my cousin who only lives a few minutes from this place, I sent hubby here to get me a drink afterwards. I ordered the iced black sesame matcha. The drink was good but with every sip, you can taste small chunks of sweetened black sesame paste. Obviously, the ingredients weren't mixed well enough.

    Iced Oakland Chill

I been wanting to come here for a hot minute and I'm so glad I got the chance too. I was Oakland and wanted to stop by for some lunch next door, and usually never got the chance to try their coffee. Luckily I got there in time towards closing to get a chance to get their coffee. The staff was super kind and wonderful and recommended me their options. They told me about the Iced Oakland chill which is their version of Vietnamese coffee and I was completely sold. Vietnamese coffee is my favorite so I had to try. The drink wasn't as bitter but more on the sweeter side. Definitely a great choice and satisfied my coffee itch. Definitely gonna come back to try their other drinks!

Rise & Grind is one of my favorite coffee shops in SF, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have a location in Oakland! This cafe was a little hard to find - the entrance with their banner on top of the store was closed and locked, but their ACTUAL entrance is at the Fire Wings entrance (just look for the sign on the door that advertises "Coffee from 8am-1pm"). They have a big cafe with a bunch of tables for the WFM folks with plenty of windows for natural sunlight. It felt roomy and breathable, perfect for anyone looking to get some work done. Staff were friendly, and I opted for their iced black sugar sugar latte with oat milk. Drinks came out pretty fast and mine was really good - although a bit on the sweeter side, but that may also be because of how hard it was to mix the syrup into the milk. It was yummy and refreshing: a perfect pick-me-up!

Rise & Grind Coffee shines with tasty food, friendly service, and cozy ambience. Tied to Fire Wyngz & Merritt House Cocktail Bar, it's a gem!

Ice black sesame matcha Black tie
    Sabrina L.

Finally had a chance to visit rise & grind coffee and I love their unique menu options. The Ice black sesame matcha has a nice blend of matcha and sweetened sesame. The Black tie is a mix of Thai tea with espresso which I think I would like as a drink on its own separately. If you do like both, you should definitely try this drink. There is a parking lot in this little plaza, so you don't need to worry about that here.

The horchata iced coffee is so good. I usually order on door dash. The lids are easy to drink from.

I loved the ambiance, it felt we was in another country. The place was packed I have no idea where everyone parked haha. Very hard to find parking. The Adeni Chai I had was wonderful and I would get again. The lemon pastries I had were good & I would possibly get again. Both cheese pastries & meat pocket I didnt care for so much. I undetstand they are an acquired taste but me being Middle Eastern we have our own versions and I think that's why I didn't like as much. I would definitely go back and try more sweet pastries. They had a large selection I couldn't try them all haha. I would love to try more tea and coffee options as well. Go and try out several different pastries and discover what you like. It's cheaper than buying an airplane ticket to try another countries culture and delights. They also have outside seating which is especially nice on a beautiful day. Pro tip: take an Uber if you can. Parking is hard to get.

We went mainly for drinks and tried a latte, tiramisu latte, and a Spanish latte. The tiramisu latte and Spanish latte were both really good and definitely my favorites. Smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. You can tell the coffee quality is solid. We also tried the matcha drinks in vanilla and strawberry. I liked the strawberry matcha more. It comes unsweetened, so I asked for it to be sweetened and it was great after that. The vanilla matcha was fine too, just not my top pick. They're also dropping a new Ramadan drink soon, a date latte, which sounds really good and I'll probably come back just to try that. Overall, great drinks and a nice place to hang out.
