I had never heard of it, but I am sooo glad she found it! Everything we had was delicious! And those pastries??? Heavenly!!! The atmosphere in the building is relaxed and chill, and on one of the coolest things we saw in there were the positive, loving notes written by children in the community and posted around the room! Nice little hidden gem in Oakland. It's a chill spot to hang out at and they serve good lattes. They get their baked goods from Starter Bakery. My hubs and I got the Egg Bhurji Plate and I liked it. It's like a Mediterranean style omelette. The toast was nicely toasted and buttery. The ketchup used for the omelette had a nice spicy kick. I think coming here healed me from a slump. Great local coffee shop to visit for a morning or afternoon pick me up. There are people here meeting friends or doing work with the free WiFi. Cute, standalone coffee shop located in West Oakland. No parking lot but lots of surrounding street parking available. A few seats outside and a decent amount of indoor seating. I tried both the Banana's Foster & Honey Lavender Pistachio (both with oat milk) and couldn't really decide which I preferred more. I didn't love the amount of cinnamon that topped off the banana's foster because it was a bit overpowering. I also would've also liked if the honey lavender pistachio had more of a lavender flavor. It was my first time at this coffee shop and I am so glad I came here. It was a chill Sunday morning and when I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised the aesthetics of this place is just beautiful. There's plans and light colors and the vibe is warm. I ordered a bananas fosters coffee as it was the most popular and I seated myself on a lounge chair in the lounging seating area. I was soaking in the vibe and I was loving it. I later moved to a table as I wanted to be sitting up. After I sat drinking my mug, I later ordered another popular coffee- Creamy coconut. First off, I have to start by saying that I wish I found this place sooner - My girlfriend and I recently moved back to San Franciscobut this absolutely hit the mark for what I would want in a local coffee. I've had the opportunity to stop by Soul Blends on. Few occasions. The shop itself is super nice - unassuming from the outside (a plain yellow building with not too much marketing) but the interior is very mellow and has a calm ambiance. I don't comment on music selection of places often but this place stood out for sure - very lowkey, relaxing music was thrown on which I really appreciated. Drinks here have always been spectacular - in my opinion the Honey Lavender pistachio Latte is a must. The baked goods here also look very nice - haven't had them myself but I definitely want to try them at some point. If you're planning a day in the East Bay, stopping by here is definitely worth your time. read more

Wow what a vibe! I came here with my book club girlies on a Sunday around midday and it was easy to find parking. Though it was a lazy Sunday, it was very lively inside with every table taken. Everyone was hanging around chit-chatting and it looked like there might have even been another book club happening as well! I love that the space is cozy with wooden tables and cute cafe chairs, and little lounging chairs around while there was moody artwork and plants along the walls. There is also a bookshelf on the way to the back that has a great selection of books from Black authors. Though it was my first time there, I felt comfortable and at home, which is rare for me. In true cafe style, they have light bites and a variety of coffee and tea drinks. I got a pistachio lavender latte that was very good and me and friend split an aioli avocado toast. My drink had a nice coffee fragrance and the pistachio and lavender flavors came through but weren't overpowering. The avo toast was loaded with avocado and was topped with some fresh veg and cute little sprouts. Our other friends got the bananas foster latte and really enjoyed that as well. I'm so excited about this place! Beautifully and simply designed. A great place to meet a friend for coffee, maybe even get some work done. It was busy but not overly loud. Staff were so very friendly, welcoming, and helpful! The presentation of everything was beautiful and delicious! They have a wide variety of unique latte flavors. I had the bananas foster latte and the honey lavender pistachio latte and both were great! They weren't too sweet, just a subtle flavor which I prefer. I ended up getting the banana foster and it did not disappoint. If you're a fan of banana milk definitely try with your coffee! I got mine iced but keen to try it warm too. They also served other pastries and their burritos looked tasty but didn't get to try them this time. My friends did try the smoked brisket and chicken curry to try though and thought they were good. I visited on opening day as I walked in it had a really wholesome vibe with a DJ, all ages of people and of course the line was full of people waiting to order! They also had avocado toasts, breakfast burritos and pastries to order... most of the food items were sold out... a good sign for opening day! (4/5) sweet with strong banana scent/taste Cinnamon vanilla - hot. (4/5) sweet with strong hint of cinnamon. Good but nothing too special. Moroccan spice latte iced (3/5) strong star anise spice and reminded me of pho which isn't something I really wanted in a coffee Breakfast sausage burrito- 0/5. It has fried rice, potato's, and Chinese sausage. The rice was gummy and the Chinese sausage are cut so thin they are non existent We did not finish Egg mushroom and spinach burrito- 0/5. Also has fried rice but there just wasn't any flavor from the ingredients. The rice again was gummy. We didn't finish this one as well. I would love for this place to do well, as there aren't too many spots around there. But the service needs to be better. I came here on a weekend morning and it was nicely populated but not crazy busy. For the amount of time it took to get one dish, I could've gone to a regular restaurant. Coffee spots should accommodate the likely use case of people wanting to grab something quick and go about their day. But the attitude of folks you're paying for food, drinks and service seemed to be that they couldn't care less if you were there or not. The food was fine, good, even. And the coffee was decent also. The decor inside is lovely! She had a coffee, of some kind (I'm not a coffee drinker :D ) and I had the hot chocolate.
