Rise is always busy, plays great music, and has the best brunch. I was surprised at how good the food is and strongly recommend it!

I came to the bar early in the afternoon, due to my reservations being botched at a nearby restaurant. Had a mushroom and truffle flatbread, and was mind blown for what seemed to be a bar type atmosphere, actually offered really good food! Ended up meeting a couple of very friendly bartenders (Sarvar and Claudio to name) and had one or the best evenings ive had in nyc in a long time. I've been coming to Rise Bar for a while now. They usually have a great DJ, host drag shows, and have hot bartenders. Unfortunately a lot of the local queer bars are struggling right now due to covid, and Rise seems to be doing everything in their power to stay open! Times are tough right now, so we went by to grab drinks and pizza one night. The owner, Ted (?), seems like a sweetheart. Support the local gay bars people! We want Rise Bar to be return to the great spot it was before the pandemic. Times are tough, and I'm tired of seeing gay bars shut down in the area. Don't let it happen here. read more

Great place for after work beverages Recently, I have been getting into the Westside scene and I am glad that Rise bar is on my list. Typically, I come here to catch up with some friends over a few gin and tonics. Rise has a generous 2-4-1 happy hour special, and the drinks are around 6/7 bucks. The bartenders are pretty friendly and fast when making drinks. For the bar, there is a nice heterogeneous mix of people from the LGBT community. All in all this is an excellent bar that is perfect for starting out the night or just chilling at the bar for the entire evening. read more

I went to Rise last evening and had a horrible experience. Both bartenders were unfriendly and seemed annoyed at me asking for drinks (major chips on their shoulders evidently)? My friend told the drag queen it was my birthday, which it was, and the queen completely rebuffed her. The bouncer went out of his way to tell my group that we had to move "because we were blocking the floor" when there was clearly no one else around us - the bar was quite empty, in fact! The vibes were off. Thought that Rise would be a great place to come after my birthday dinner and was sorely disappointed. One of the worst customer experiences I've had at a bar since moving to NYC. And it absolutely will not motivate me to kiki in Hell's Kitchen anytime soon. I'll stick to the local bars in Chelsea that have much better service and energy. read more

Honestly one of the best gay bars in the city. The music is consistently good, the happy hour is great, and there are lots of video screens for music videos and/or viewing parties! Jonathan in particular is hilarious as a bartender. If you need an epic vacation story, please ask him about his trip to Colombia. read more

This is my go to bar with my friends, and we always have fun here! The music is great and the ambiance is so fun! I've done karaoke during the week with a friend here and the service was great for that. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the drinks are definitely overpriced. Came here with the squad and just sat outside. It's labeled gay bar but they have mexican food. Food was delicious but all drinks came in like plastic to go cups which was odd. They also make you give a card and id to order which I felt was also odd then they didnt give me my id or card back which caused issues but overall this place is cool and my friends want to go back read more

Where do I begin? This bar holds so many amazing memories and fun times for me. Do the pros outweigh the cons? Large, strong drinks and a great atmosphere; inside and out. Always a large fun crowd. That's worth maybe 2 stars. However, overpriced drinks, less than mediocre service and the pizza required for drink purchase? A JOKE. You'll notice in the pic how thin and small it is. They limit you to 90 mins which is fine, but only take your second order about 15 mins before your time has "expired," and then do not return except to tell you 5 more mins and still no second drink in hand. You actually have to request them to cancel and refund your second order, that becomes a nightmare. This is the second time this has happened to us. Dealing with the staff shouldn't be this difficult nor should the managers be as rude at they are to paying customers. Going forward my friends and I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more
