Stopped by to satisfy a pierogi craving and there did not disappoint. I ordered 12 off their hot menu plus a raspberry paczki. The wait was quite long considering there was no one else waiting, but I wonder if it's because they mixed me up with an online order. So glad I found this little Polish gem here in Utah! It's a cozy store with a decent selection of Polish kitchen basics, everything from pickles and pierogi to jams and seasoning packets. I've been here twice now specifically for their pączki, and both times they did not disappoint. I bought 2 of their delicious, authentic- Golombki & sausage meals, bought 8 "to-go" fresh frozen pierogies, 2 boxes of Paczki's, neopolitans = $ 200 worth of foods. I am so happy that i found this place. I too, am from Chicago with my parents born in Poland. I grew up with all these foods. It was like being in my Babcia's (grandmother's) kitchen again. We wanted to like this lunch spot as we are polish and everyone in our party is polish . But, here is the problem . Not a fresh dish was served to our table . We ordered two Chicago dogs . The rolls were stale and falling apart, the hotdog was over cooked while cold , the condiments were not traditional "Chicago dogs". We ordered a golobka rolled cabbage plate. We'll the cabbage roll was warmed over leftover from the last catering gig they had, the sauce was pasty and cold, the carrots once again warmed over and leftover, the boiled potatoes were fresh and well cooked. The best dish was the pierogis we ordered the potato farmers cheese and they were traditional and fresh . We will not be frequenting this spot for lunch . High expectations and not met. read more

This place is worth the trip to West Jordan. We shared the pierogi pizza and the golabki and both were delicious. Everything on that golabki plate was so good -- carrots with some caraway, onions, melt-in-your-mouth potato dumplings, the sauce, and the stuffed cabbage. The pizza was so tasty -- you can tell the dough is handmade. They also have house-made pastries and breads, so we HAD to take some home, plus some pierogis for the freezer. The pancki are a stuffed donut that you need in your life. Haven't tried the rye bread yet but it smells really good! read more

Disclaimer: I haven't been to the physical store but one of my Polish colleagues brought these amazing goodies into the office, Paczki ( pronounced like ponchik). Essentially like filled donuts. And this of the Year in Feb for "Fat Thursday", I'm told they have more flavors. The black current filled one was surprising amazing. So good! We got a pierogi pizza and paczki. They had 4 flavors available that day, rose, cream, plum and black currant. The plum was my favorite, my daughter loved the rose and the husband liked the black currant. So, overall everyone was pleased! The service was quick and very friendly. I was unsure how to rate this restaurant because there were parts of my meal I absolutely loved, and also parts I didn't. Lets start with the good. The Paczki is AMAZING. Soft, fluffy, and fresh! I purchased a cream filled one. I want to try the jelly filled ones as well. So good. I will go to RISE just to purchase these moving forward! You have to try them! The Golabki Plate, however, left a lot to be desired. Overall it was bland. I found that it lacked flavor and moisture. Everything needed more salt. The mashed potatoes were dry and crumbly. The carrot, onion, and apple mix was ok. You could taste the caraway, but it lacked salt as well. The cabbage rolls could have used a sauce. They were dense and dry. The saving grace was the pickled veggies that they included on the side in a small cup. They were perfect! So flavorful and delicious. I wish I had gotten more than a small cup of it! I ate it on top of my cabbage rolls and it made them more palatable. I REALLY wanted to like this because I always like to support small businesses. This was a miss for me though. read more

We discovered RISE about a week and a half ago. Today we went there. The wedding kielbasa was phenomenal. My wife had the Polish meatball plate. Megan, who worked the front counter while we were there, was super engaging, very sweet, and fairly knowledgeable. The owner seems dedicated to producing the most authentic Polish food she can. Last week Mrs Lacey talked about this place being open and awesome and just had to visit. Put in a large order over the phone and 40 minutes later picked it up. Didn't get to take enough pictures of the food, we all went to Liberty Park and ran out of room to put the food on the table. My favorites were the dill pickle soup, the bacon & onion pierogis, the cabbage rolls, the Polish street pizza, Paczki (filled donuts), and Kolacky cookies. They had some awesome weird candies in the store with no English label on the them. The owner was very knowledgeable and was able to explain in great detail how the food was prepared. RISE is an intriguing spot: a sort of Polish grocer/bakery/restaurant, and as if that was not enough, it actually came into being as a result of the owner's catering company, so there is a lot going on here! There are roughly two parking spaces out front, and the shop itself is in an unusual area, seeming to appear out of nowhere, so take your time when you know you are getting close. On my visit, I was the only customer, and the interior is small, so that was a good thing. The owner's (super friendly and charming) daughter greeted me immediately, and then gave me leave to wander around and make my discoveries. Grocery-wise, you will find shelves of jarred and canned meats and seafood, pickled vegetables, a surprising variety of candy, chocolate, and other treats (two types of halva!), baking supplies (including some interesting flours), and deli items like cheese and charcuterie. The bakery case housed just a few things: cheesecake, apple strudel, a few cakes and other sweets, most of which were single-serving size, but there were a few full cakes as well, plus some loaves of bread, too! Then they had frozen house-made pierogis and other dumplings, and lastly, they offer made-to-order pizza as well! Phew! I grabbed the halva as soon as I saw it, then asked the cashier what she recommended, either as something particularly evocative of Polish food, or just a favorite. She suggested a packaged sausage (the name of which I don't recall, but it was fantastic), and some canned "breakfast delicacy" meat (which I haven't yet worked up the courage to try, but I'm sure is great). I also chose a baked cheesecake, a plum and a rose paczki, potato and cheese pierogis, and mushroom uszka. Now, paczki are like filled donuts, and the flavors they offer vary (they've also had cream and raspberry), but these were fantastic! Not greasy at all, nor too sweet, wonderfully light, and the rose filling was definitely my favorite as the floral flavor was clearly present, but not overwhelming as rose often is. And then the pierogis! Good Lord, they were dreamy! I did not even bother boiling them - just pan fried straight from the freezer in some butter and topped with fresh cut chives. They were seriously the best pierogis I have ever had. They seemed a little pricey at a little over $5 for 6, but they are pretty large, and paired with a salad, made a perfect dinner for two. Do not sleep on these. Get a couple packs for your freezer, and thank me later. Lastly, the uszka was very mushroom-y and a must for fans of that fungi. I cooked it in the same manner as the pierogis, but in the future I think they would be fantastic with a light cheese sauce, or maybe a dollop of sour cream or yogurt, and a sprinkle of fresh herbs (dill would be perfect, don't you think?). Everything was incredibly clean and well organized, and I just loved all the light the large windows let in. I was SO impressed by the customer service, and truly, all I tried was very good to amazing. I will return to stock up on all the house made specialties, and I also want some of that pizza. I can't quite recall, but I think they maybe had one bistro table and chairs? Otherwise, there was no seating, but I'd be happy to take one to go. My grandparents emigrated from Poland in the 1920s. So naturally, my mother made a lot of Polish meals while I was growing up. Rise by Good Day is a wonderful little place with authentic, traditional Polish prepared foods and groceries. Delicious pierogi, bigos, golabki, sernik, and of course paczki. Very clean store. First time here ordered pizzas that were ok. Toppings were not that fresh and dough was tough. Also the sauerkraut I purchased was expired, and I didn't notice until taking it home. My mistake. Because of the really good reviews listed I tried again ordering kielbasa plate and meatball plate. Ingredients were even less fresh this time, everything lacked salt except for the mashed potatoes which were obviously reheated and nearly too salty to eat. The sausage took minutes to chew each bite and the meatballs had zero flavor. The pirogies were the nearly edible but very greasy; additionally they sour cream packet was placed inside with the hot pirogies. As a native Clevelander on the road this month, I was concerned where I would find my Polish pastries for Fat Thursday while in Utah. Thankfully, I found Rise. I was able to procure a few personal paçzki and a poppy seed cake. The paçzki dough was a little lighter than I'm used to and with fewer filling options, but the cream and currant filled I chose were very nice and the paçzki were fresh and delicious. Ordered food via a delivery service. Pierogis were delish but I was extremely disappointed in the kielbasa plate. It's the Pepperidge Farms type smoked sausage and not the Polish kielbasa this Polish girl expected. The potatoes were dry and bland. I might skip ordering prepared food in the future but I look forward to visiting in person to shop their market and fresh baked goods. read more
