Large wienerschnitzel sandwich with potato salad

This place is bangin. They have awesome sandwiches at a fantastic price. The bread is fresh, the meats are all sliced and prepared in front of you, and the cheeses are all great. The store has a bunch of cool snacks and treats too. Try the cassis drink. It's hella good.

New Berlin with cucumber salad and boterkoek

The ladies who work here are wonderfully friendly and helpful. After eating a delicious lunch, I had the New Berlin and it was perfect, I wanted to bring home some meats and cheeses l. I was offered samples and recommendations based on what sort of flavors I like and I went home happy and already planning on coming back. Some people have mentioned that items are expensive, but I think the price points are right on the mark for the quality you're getting. I'm also not going to fault them for less than stellar parking, that can't be helped. Inside it's clean, cute and casual. Very nice place for a quick lunch and an excellent deli counter. Can't wait to try the soups and more!

So many sprinkles for hagelslag! Also some other baking supplies and candy, but HAGELSLAG!

I finally made my way here, but did not feel this was the best of our local European markets as the selection is limited, and prices are spectacularly high. With that said, this may be worth seeking out if you are searching for a very particular ingredient. They have stunning pearl sugar for homemade liege waffles, choquettes, and other goodies. The assortment of sprinkles for hagelslag is unmatched by anywhere nearby (Never had hagelslag? It's buttered toast topped by a splendiferous abundance of sprinkles, pure magic, and you need some in your life). There are great varieties of sweets: chocolate, cookies, salty licorice, etc, and many brands I've not seen elsewhere, but again, with the high prices I couldn't quite muster up enough enthusiasm to purchase any. I did not try a sandwich, so that may be a redeeming quality for the shop, though the deli case appeared a bit limited. The menu sounded appetizing, though, and they even make breakfast sammies on Saturdays. You cannot park on the north side of the building, there are roughly one million signs stating this, so make sure you grab a spot on the south side, next to the wall mural.

    Netherlander lunch box

I wish I had known this place way earlier! Our lunch was good, I would say the Bavarian sandwich is a bit better than the Netherlander one. Bavarian is very much similar to Reuben; meat is a sausage that has chewier case. I had to say their pickle is probably one of the best I've eaten, so is their split pea soup.

One of the best, and maybe most underrated or unknown, gems of Salt Lake is The Old Dutch Store. It has been a while since I visited and I'm so glad I went back! My family is Danish, so anytime I can find the food of my heritage I feel more connected. The Old Dutch Store carries Dutch, German, and Scandinavian goods. They also have a deli, where in addition to selling meats and cheeses by the pound, they sell sandwiches and sides. In an effort to be more adventurous I order a Liverwurst, or in Danish, a Leverpostej sandwich. It's a type of Liver Paté, and while not quite traditional Danish it was close. I'm Denmark they put the Leverpostej on open face rye bread, with a little mayo maybe, and topped with pickled red cabbage. This sandwich was on the most amazing sandwich roll I've ever had! A combination of soft dreamy white bread and a Kaiser roll... I want all my sandwiches on this roll in the future. I added mayo, Liverwurst, lettuce, and tomato. The Liverwurst has a little bit of an odd mineraly, livery aftertaste, but that's just all Liverwurst in general. I'm glad I got it, it's actually my Mom's favorite, but next time I'm anxious to try some of their other options. I also got a side of their Cucumber Salad, which is totally a Scandinavian thing. It's basically very thinly sliced cucumbers in a sweet vinegar marinade. This one also had super thin onions in it. So refreshing! I'm also obsessed with this particular kind of Salty Black Licorice, and tried the Coffee Wafer cookies for funsies! You absolutely MUST go get yourself a Deli Sandwich and one of their other many unique food treasures! GO! Right now! Lol.

Lots of fun and yummy things you can't get at a typical grocery store. Great helpers that are happy to explain what different things are.

If you're looking for pastries that are as stunning as they are delicious, Fillings & Emulsions…read moreabsolutely delivers. Their fruit-shaped creations are little works of art--so realistic it almost feels wrong to eat them... almost. Each pastry is fresh, light, and packed with flavor. The pistachio was incredibly tasty, though definitely on the richer side, so it's one you might want to savor slowly. The raspberry had a beautifully balanced sweetness with a vibrant, delicious filling. The lemon was very zingy--almost intensely so--but still delightful if you enjoy bold citrus flavors (just maybe not an entire one in a single sitting). The standout, though, was the mango. Easily the winner. It had such a bright, powerful flavor, and the fresh mango inside made every bite feel special. Everything about it--from taste to presentation--was just beautiful. The only slight letdown was the macarons. While still good, they didn't quite match the intensity and uniqueness of the pastries and felt a bit underwhelming in comparison. Overall, this place is a must-visit if you appreciate creative, high-quality desserts. It's clear a lot of skill and care goes into every piece. I loved the building that the pastry shop was in, as it had a "lunch room" feel to it. There are a few restaurants inside so there are options and there's plenty of seating.

The sweet cashier recommended Strawberry & Mango, so that's what we got. They were delicious! I think the mango was my personal favorite. The crunch of the chocolate coating was so satisfying and the fillings soft and gooey. It didn't feel artificial either! The location is in a food mall, which I wasn't expecting but it was so cute inside. I wish we had more time to check out the other vendors but we'll have to come back. On a separate note, it was kind of hard to find a trash can.

We were quoted a 10-15 minute wait despite there being multiple open tables everywhere, which already set the tone. The person at the front also seemed like greeting guests was a personal inconvenience. Not exactly the warm welcome you'd expect from a place trying this hard to look aesthetic. To make things worse, several pastries sitting in the front display were visibly burnt. Not "artisan charred" -- just burnt. The pastries we ordered were actually good, which makes the rest of the menu even more disappointing. We tried the soft scramble, pork cheek tartine, truffle tartine, and mushroom fettuccine. Everything looked beautiful but tasted either burnt, bland, or both. Every toast item arrived burnt enough that you could taste it in every bite. Our server came by often to refill waters and check on us, but the service somehow still felt oddly impersonal. Since the restaurant wasn't busy at all, it also made us wonder how attentive the service would be during an actual rush. Honestly, this place feels more focused on looking trendy than serving good food. Stick to the pastries if you go -- it's the only thing worth ordering.

Their burritos and fries are my go-to favorites. The burritos are just top-notch, but I have a soft spot for their fries -- it's kind of an inside joke for me. Whenever I go out to eat with people, they always say, "Well, I know what El is having," because I always get fries with my food. But theirs are surprisingly amazing. Fries are usually just "fine" or "good," but theirs? They're very good. The owner is incredibly kind, and their baked goods are fantastic -- especially the peanut butter brownie, which I can't recommend enough. Their soft serve is also really good, and I'm excited to try some of their candy next time. I even took a non-vegan friend there, and he really enjoyed the food. Beyond the food, the team is so nice, and they have a little vegan market with some really cool products. I bought about half a pound of vegan bacon from them, and now I'm making all kinds of breakfast sandwiches at home. If you're in the area, whether you're vegan or not, Sweet Hazel is a must-visit. And if you can't stop by in person, their partner company Break Free Candy ships their sweets, which is awesome. Seriously, if you order anything from the menu, make it the peanut butter brownie. It's life-changing -- and I say that as a huge brownie lover.
