Foreman's Stout - full bodied, delicious. Ginger/Lemonade - refreshing, sooooo GOOD. House Fries - sliced as chips, but so good. Hummus - great consistency, but needed some citrus to finish it off. Still good, but I am picky about hummus. Tzatziki sauce - incredible, delicious, get this. Pecan Salad with Chicken - HOLY SMOKES, my wife loved this dish. She made me come back another time just so she vould have it again. Gyro Platter - light on the chicken, but really delicious. It was enough for two or more meals. Five years ago I met the owner of Back Slope Brewery at a beer tasting in western Montana. That conversation convinced me to make the trip to Columbia Falls to visit the brewery, and I'm glad I did. What I discovered wasn't just excellent craft beer--it was some of the most memorable brewery food I've ever had. Back Slope took ordinary menu items and turned them into something extraordinary. The pulled pork sandwich and fried chicken sandwich were simply exceptional. The chicken was hand-cut, brined in pickle juice, carefully breaded, and fried to a perfect golden crust. The sauce brought everything together perfectly. Those sandwiches weren't just good--they were the reason I looked forward to returning. Unfortunately, on my most recent visit I discovered that both signature sandwiches are gone. The pulled pork sandwich has been removed from the menu, and the fried chicken has been replaced with commercially prepared chicken. We ordered other menu items, and while they were perfectly acceptable, they lacked the creativity and quality that made Back Slope feel special. What was once an unforgettable dining experience has become, in my opinion, just another brewery with decent food. The service, however, remains excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and greeted us with a genuine smile, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. I understand that restaurants evolve and sometimes difficult business decisions have to be made. Still, it's disappointing when the very dishes that set a place apart disappear. Back Slope still has good beer and great service, but the unique culinary experience that once made it worth going out of my way to visit no longer seems to be there. Stopped in because of the high rating on yelp. At first, however I was not too sure I made the right decision because it took quite a while for the server to take an order from me. It might have been because it was some sort of a trivia night and they seemed quite busy with a regular crowd that was there. However, I did stay and I ended up ordering the ginger bowl 2.0 along with a hummus plate and I was very, very surprised as how good it all was. In fact "excellent " tells it all. I would definitely come back just for those two selections alone. Not at all what I would've expected in a "bar" in Columbia Falls, Montana. Some Asian choices, some Middle Eastern choices, some American choices on the menu and more. I was very impressed with just the two that I got so I want to come back and try again. Stopped here after a day of hiking for dinner and got a seat right away for 4 of us. The menu is a bit limited in options with only a standard burger, a chicken sandwich, some bowls and wraps, and a pasta dish. I ordered the Gyro Pita with chicken and it was good. The chicken was tender and seasoned well, but some of the pieces were room temperature like the chicken was made prior and heated up when I ordered. There were also only a few chicken chunks in the pita, so the protein level wasn't very fulfilling. The remaining part of the pita was full of cucumber, red onion, tomato, cabbage, parsley, and a drizzle of delicious house tzatziki. The tzatziki was wonderful, just wish there was more to have with every bite and help keep the ingredients from falling out of the pita. The dish was also served with house fries that were seasoned with parsley and sea salt. I definitely would have liked a larger portion of the pita, I still felt a bit hungry after my meal and for $17 it should have been more. As a drink I ordered a sour with cherry and plum flavor, along with a few other fruits and spices. It was great and refrshing! Came here because of the most reviews. Wanted to try just one brewery in the area. Had the Pilgrim Blonde which had a little more hops than I'm used to. Decent beer. The house fries are the BEST I've had, EVER. Didn't have luck with fries in Idaho but Montana came through. We originally just ordered the beef burger which had great quality meat ordered medium well. Once we tasted the fries I immediately asked to order a large batch. I'll be coming back. This is my second time at Backslope. The first time I stopped in was years ago during my first visit to Glacier. I was really excited to go back as I had such a great experience the first time. We shared a flight and I would recommend each of the beers but really enjoyed the sours. I had the fish and chips for my lunch and really enjoyed them. The slaw had a little too much carrot for me but I still enjoyed it. We stopped for a late lunch and had no wait. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend stopping in at Backslope and I will definitely return during our next Glacier trip! read more

We had dinner here last night 6/25/26. Upon arrival the hostess was not welcoming at all. She seemed like she didn't want to be there. Another couple arrived at the same time and just wanted to have a drink , the hostess advise they can't just come for a drink. That couple left. Meanwhile we waited for our seat. Once seated the hostess from the front door brought us a water each again she seemed very put out. We ordered a hamburger and two Fish and Chips. Both were good however the hamburger had a little too much salt seasoning. The waitress was very nice and welcoming. The point of my comment here is we almost walked away due to the first person we met who was not welcoming. No smile nothing to make you feel welcomed. We haven't been in for about a year. They used to have a chicken sandwich I raved about to visitors but it's not on the menu anymore. This time the food was just so-so. I had a $16.00 chicken lemon salad. It was decent. My Mom had soup and they don't serve any crackers or bread with it. She asked for something and they brought some pita slices for $2.00. Just know there's a possibility of them not being able to accept new customers an hour before they close if they're super busy, which is what happened when we went. I think Backslope has the best burger I have had in a long time! I was on the brink of being hangry after hiking and exploring GNP and stopped in for a late lunch. The beers are great and the burger was awesome - juicy, full of flavor, an all around classic burger. The lettuce, tomato, onion, and condiments are on the side so you can customize the burger yourself. The house style potatoes are salty but delicious. Pretty decent food and beer here. We started with a flight of the Leiwand Amber, porter, Foreman stout, and nitro stout. I liked the porter the best, while my wife liked the Foreman stout. We each followed up with a pint of those two. Intrigued by the bowls, I went with the bulgogi beef bowl. I was really impressed with the first few bites. I soon realized, however, the bowl hadn't been mixed up, and I had a lot more cabbage slaw and rice than bulgogi beef. I mixed it up, and it was fine, but not as good as the first few bites. Way too much cabbage and rice. My wife had the veggie burger with fries, and she thought both were delicious. Service was a little slow at the start, but it mostly picked up. I had to ask for more water, and once I got that, the waitress didn't offer to refill my wife's water at the same time, which was a bit strange. read more

The menu is varied with an enticing surprise for everyone. I had the Ginger Pork Sandwith a side house salad. The house salad is the best I have ever had! It was more than a spring mix. There was shredded cabbage, carrots, and pepitas with a peppercorn ranch dressing that was light and tasty. The Ginger Pork Sandwich was am amazing mix of flavors. The ginger is absolutely delicious. It comes with a sirachi Mayo that I didn't think I'd like. I requested it on the side and quickly became a convert, Absolutely delicious! My husband had the Winter Glory Salad and it was definitely glorious. Once again, the mixture of tastes was a surprise to the taste buds. The salad had mixed greens, spinach, kale, red and green cabbage, carrots, and the addition of beets and Brussels sprouts were excellent. It also came mixed with flavorful quinoa and toasted almonds. The creamy tahini dressing finished it off perfectly. This is absolutely a place worth visiting over and over again. My husband and I decided to explore outside the park and all the beautiful nature today. We decide to drive up to and try the brewery. The waitstaff were attentive and friendly, helping us to pick out a flight of their brews. All four were exactly what we had described and wanted. Delicious! The porter was my favorite. Then we had the labneh- it was delicious with the pickled cucumbers and soft pita. Then we decided to go with the summer special of the veggie burger. This is a must when you're visiting Glacier National Park. It's not far from the park, so the perfect place to hit up after a tough hike! The burgers, the fries, the brews. All top notch. They don't take reservations. Usually busy (bc it's so good) but never took long to sit or get our food. Fun atmosphere inside, seating outside as well. The fries are really like a hybrid of fries, wedges and chips. Amazing and unique. Definitely recommend the truffle ones. Homemade ranch is awesome - get it on the side! Stopped by during our annual ski trip to Whitefish and we're sooooo disappointed. We came in February and all was great, came again in March and the menu is completely different! The hostess was kind enough to let us know that the menu had changed, prior to seating us. As we were perusing the menu, 2 other groups came in. They too looked over the new menu and walked out, as we did. My entire family is still talking about how disappointing the menu change is. The 'bowls' were always amazing, my extended family here in Seattle said that they would go back to Whitefish just to get the Bulgogi Bowl at Backslope! Well, I guess that will not happen any time soon. UNLESS, UNLESS, Backslope is smart enough to bring back their old menu. The beer variety here has always been decent but we truly only drove over to Columbia Falls/Backslope for the food. Nobody in our group ever said, 'Hey, let's head to Backslope for beers!', it was always, 'Hey, let's head to Backslope for lunch!' My review is not intended to deter anyone from going here, I'm just leaving my feedback for the management, as we were loyal customers for years. Unfortunately, we'll be going elsewhere. Not too far from the National park, this brewery is a great spot not just for their beer but also their food. We ordered an appetizer of fried pickle spears and in came out within 2 minutes of ordering! There's a decent amount of seating and a small patio, hard to escape the sun at times. I got a veggie burger that came with a fried egg and it was great! The beers that I tried were all good, seems that they have a decent amount of rotating season offerings. This spot was such a great find! While traveling through Glacier National Park, we dined here on our way in and enjoyed it so much that we stopped again on our way back. The beers and all of the food items we tried were delicious. Was impressed that the menu rotated quite a bit in the week between our visits. We were seated and served quickly both times. The stand out items for me were the garlic parm potatoes and the rice bowls, but I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the items on the menu! Standout experience. Tried a lot of really fun unique beers that were super enjoyable( I would highly recommend getting a flight or two so that you can try a lot. Some of them although good and fun to try, I do not think I'd like having a whole glass of it. The Mac and cheese was stand out and I would recommend getting the smaller cup size that I don't think was listed in the menu as a little side. The bulgogi bowl was solid but the bistro burger really stood out to me. One of the most juicy, savory burgers I have had and all the flavors just compliment each other so well. The staff was all super kind and were very attentive. Ambiance was lively and they had big windows looking into their brewing process which really helped you feel immersed in the whole beer experience.
