There is a good amount of seating, although some of the tables are close together so you may be back to back with the table next to you. The food is great but I have found some of the portion sizing of the pasta dishes to be a little too much or too little. I want this local restaurant to survive but they have to get their stuff together. First of all I told my waiter I had a discount card I bought through the local football club for a free salad with the purchase of two entrees. He asked if we wanted another salad, we said no and it arrived on two plates. We said oh thank you for splitting it. (It was literally a few pieces of lettuce and one split tomato. Nothing to write home about.) My husband ordered veal (it was large and good) and I had the pasta with chicken and peas. The waiter never came back to ask how it was. Mine was bland and tasteless and I ate maybe 5 bites. They do not keep salt and pepper on the table. Its not my job to hunt down our waiter. When it came time to have the bill delivered I told our waiter to let the chef know the sauce was bland. My husband confirmed my opinion. He argued it was one of their more popular dishes and he has served hundreds. I told him thats fine but tonights was terrible. I did not ask for anything in return but tell the cook. He brought the bill and gruffly said I took off the pasta. I said he didn't have to do that but thank you and then I noticed he charged me $11 for the free salad and $2 to split the salad I didn't ask to be split. At this point I needed to leave for the movies and just paid my bill with a very generous 30% tip I now regret. We left the almost empty restaurant. If you want a local town restaurant to survive you need to get people to come back. I won't. I have given them too many tries and most times they come up flat. read more

Vibe check = difficult when the restaurant is completely empty. Service: Like much of everything else, "these days--meaning post-pandemic" the server was young and trying. It was much like how it feels to fly now (I do it a lot). The FAs are young and inexperienced. He seemed unsure of himself. Nice kid but not the level of service that others had described. As far as his helpers...not so much. You have one job: putting the replacement knife on the wrong side of the plate is a detail that perplexed me. Yes, I notice this stuff. Now for the food: DISAPPOINTING. The meatballs were really basic and nothing special. Entrees? To say we were underwhelmed was an understatement. My dining partner had the lasagna. How do you screw that up? They did. Not flavorful at all. She said the sauce tasted like it was from a jar. I had some weird chicken with prosciutto and cheese dish. The chicken was really dry and overcooked. I could barely taste the cheese. The mushrooms that came with the dish didn't taste like sauteed mushrooms. They were overly sweet and just not good. Everything had a ketchup taste to it. The desserts were really tasty. I wanted good Italian food, NOT just a dessert. The food was TERRIBLE! In a party of 8, no one's food was good. Pasta dishes were under-seasoned. My "pear" salad was a bagged salad with the feta sprinkles and chopped, brown pears. The burger was dry, luckily had cheese on it. The French onion soup was so salty it was inedible. And the fish sandwich smelled, well, fishy. The service was not any better. The waiter forgot to bring two drinks ordered at the beginning of the meal. Then never offered refills. When we asked another worker there for more iced tea/ soda, he replied yes. Then disappeared. Just discovered this Moraga gem when planning to see a movie there. We were very happy with our selections: the special, veal ossobuco with saffron rissoto. My wife had frutti de mare. Disappointed in the service. My husband and I came here for dinner prior to seeing a movie. Our reservation was at 6 which should have left us with plenty of time. We ordered cocktails and ordered our entrees. About 10 minutes later our server reconfirms our order and claims the kitchen lost our ticket for the order. No big deal, stuff happens and we still have at least 45 minutes before we need to leave for the movie. 20 minutes later, our server tells us our food is still being made, but coming soon. We order another drink anticipating our food will be out any minute. More time passes and now both my husband and I realize we have to go very soon. Our food finally arrives just before 7pm, an hour after our arrival. I ask for the check and boxes because we have to get going. My husband wolfed his food down but I only managed a few bites before I boxed everything so we could leave. The server finally grabbed my card and cashed us out. Look, if it had been a crazy busy night I could forgive the bad service and deals. However it was a fairly slow night at the restaurant. We also only ordered an entree so it's not like we had apps and salad courses that would add to the time it takes to get our entrees. It was a very expensive to go order considering I didn't even get to enjoy my dinner due to them dropping the ball. Amoroma makes the best gnocchi! We came back here for Valentine's Day and I was bummed to see it wasn't on the menu, but was then surprised how AMAZING our food was. My family dined here last night as we have more or less weekly for a very long time. It was a lazy Sunday and the restaurant could have been busier (at 6:00) although it was picking up as we were finishing. It was a good meal and a pleasant experience! Rheem is not exactly a destination, but Amoroma and other surrounding businesses either get local support or we should stop complaining about a lack of places in the area. We know the staff by name and we interact with them like family. I don't usually order lasagna -- which another reviewer complained about -- because even I can make that myself. The petrale sole I had was nicely cooked as is the salmon when it's available. My wife had chicken piccata and my father in law had the SPUNTATURE DE MAIALE, over pasta instead of polenta. No complaints. We saw other families and friends gathering as well. For those who didn't have a good experience, try again. We will see you there. read more

This was my first time dining at Ristorante Amoroma. I had heard for years that it was a hidden gem, yet, I just have never made the trek down Moraga Rd to give it a try. The restaurant was nicely appointed and the staff welcoming and friendly. I felt like I was a member of the family. The Fritto Misto was amazing and I tried the Li Suppri' Ar Telefono for the first time. What a treat. The real show stopper was the Filet Mignon. The prosciutto was crisp and the filet so tender and cooked to perfection. The mushrooms, potatoes and marsala wine were the perfect compliment in completing the dish. My husband had a wonderful breaded free range chicken and we enjoyed sharing each others dishes. It was my Birthday celebration so let's talk about the Tiramisu. Wow! It was so amazing. You could taste the rum soaked lady fingers with a hint of espresso and chocolate (isn't that everyone's favorite?). So light and fluffy. I cannot believe I have not taken the opportunity to come to this lovely restaurant before. What was I thinking. Planned a nice birthday with my dinner and she chose to this place. I was somewhat skeptical because it was in a strip mall but what a great little gem this place is! We were greeted right way and had attentive and friendly service the entire night from all of the staff. We were blown away with the wall of wine they have in the adjacent room, it was pretty safe too say it wouldn't be a problem to find something we liked. And of course we did which some suggestions of the server. The menu is endless... no exaggeration, there are so many options. I loved that most of them were traditional Italian dishes I had not seen since I was in Italy instead of the traditional dishes you see at most American Italian restaurants. I ordered the ER PESCE IN UMMIDO which is halibut braised with green beans, chard, tomatoes, olives and basil. It was so delicious! The fish was cooked perfectly and the flavor was phenomenal. My uncle ordered the ER FILETTO IN CAZZEROLA which is filet mignon sautéed with prosciutto, and marsala wine; Yukon potatoes and mushrooms and my aunt ordered the LI FUSILLI CO LI BROCCOLI which is corkscrew pasta with arugula, cauliflower, broccoli and black olives. Wonderful to be able to sit on the patio for dinner here at Amoroma on our 30th wedding anniversary. We each had the warm spinach salad to start. Very nice portion with fresh corn, pickled red onions, roasted red peppers and crispy pancetta. Yummy! My husband had two appetizers for his meal:. Crab cakes served with a salad in the middle of the plate with two nice size fried crab cakes topped with a remoulade and polenta served with mushrooms, tomato based sauce and gorgonzola. He enjoyed both dishes. I had the bow tie pasta with peas, mushrooms, pancetta, and chicken. My food was steaming hot and very good. The pasta was light and the cream was not overly heavy. I wish I could have eaten the entire dish. We overheard several guests talk about the cannolis so we had to have them Two nice sized cannolis per person drizzled with chocolate sauce. A couple of issues:. The cannolis was fried with bad oil. The rancid smell was overpowering. Nonetheless, I had to eat it. The ricotta filling was okay. It wasn't too sweet which is good and a few chocolate chips mixed it. Could use some citrus rind to being some more flavor. And, ditch the chocolate sauce please. Powdered sugar is all that is needed. Overall, we really enjoy Amoroma. It's a nice Italian restaurant that also has the neighborhood feel. They have a bar and adjoining wine bar. We had such an outstanding meal at Amoroma, I had to go express my appreciation to the manager, as we were leaving. He asked me to post a review. So here it is. We actually intended to eat at the Japanese restaurant next door, but it was too early, and we were starving. So we entered Amoroma not knowing anything about the place. And we had an amazing Italian meal. Great bread, wonderful service. Our meals included the pear salad, caesar salad, calamari, clam linguini, lasagna, and bread pudding. This place is old school. The waiters are all courteous and attentive. They remember your name. They remember the kids, and they call the older women 'my dear.' They're part of the neighborhood. The food is solid, every time. I get the rabbit every other time I go, and I tell them that I want polenta instead of pasta, and it's not a problem. 1 star experience. The food is probably better - but we never got it - so we I cannot say. For the first time in my life I walked out of a restaurant before my order arrived. The bottom line is: WHAT happens is not so much the issue. HOW you handle it is the major factor. Seated at 5:50. Drinks delivered 6:00 - not great drinks to be honest - barely ok. Ordered shortly after drinks came (salad and two entrees). Nothing for 40 minutes. A guys walks up saying our order will be ready in about 5 minutes and that one of our dishes was given to another customer. Then he asked what we ordered and we told him; but I told him to cancel the salad if entrees are 5 minutes away. I got the sense that there was no listening happening as I said this twice and we went in circles "your orders will be right out" "ok so cancel the salad order" "was it the pear salad? We'll bring that right out" "if the orders are 5 minutes away, no need for the salads". Pear salad with two 1 cm squares of pear delivered 10 minutes after that. We ate them because the g/f was hangry. We sat for another 10 minutes (20 minutes after being told food was around 5 minutes away). We both decided that while "stuff happens"; that this place's lack of care to provide simple and honest communication put us in a position where we would not feel right paying more to be treated relatively poorly and that this could get worse. I walked up front and explained what happened and we were both so glad we decided to leave as the response from the front of the house was insincere and he started telling me I was wrong (i was just repeating what THEIR WAITER TOLD ME). So I told him I am willing to pay for the two drinks we half finished and thats it. All of us have heard "were are busy, we apologize" and then some sort of expectation setting while at a restaurant. And when communicated to, I personally never remember those things - i just remember the food. So this is not about a place that was busy or short staffed or whatever was going on. It is about the poor culture they have about how they communicate. The restaurant I gave four stars to the week prior was very slow - they simply explained what was going on and did not make promises they cannot keep. I forgot about how slow that place was until i was writing this review. How you treat people is most of the game here. So we went a few doors down and got Lamorinda Pizza and were happy to simply be treated with common courtesy by comparison. read more

They didn't even bother to call the person who made the reservation to say something happened and their restaurant would not be open!! I only gave it one star because it would not allow me to give zero stars. We ended up going to Locanda Positano in Lafayette. They were able to accommodate our host's last minute request to seat 20 people, the food was excellent and so was the service!! read more
