First off, the staff there is always so welcoming and nice. I got to go this time and the bartender was so great! The food was amazing. We got two pizzas, gnocchi and focaccia bread. All were so good. We got a traditional pepperoni and it was very good, then we took a chance on a seasonal pizza that had corn and other toppings and it was really good. The pizzas are always made perfectly with a nice chewy crust. The gnocchi were tasty pillows but the sauce was to die for. The focaccia was the ninja of the order...a silent assassin. So dang good! Ordering for delivery, I removed the cheese and added in chicken and bacon and I must say it was so delicious and light - probably one of the better pizzas I've had recently. The food and service here were phenomenal. The servers/host/manager was warm and I felt like the space was classy without being stuffy or pretentious. We ordered a few things including their in house lemonade, a salad, pasta, and a pizza, as well as dessert. Everything was excellent and tasted fresh. The pizza had a very good thin crust that was light, chewy, and a perfect complement to the toppings. The only thing that could have been better was the olive oil chocolate cake. I typically expect those types of desserts to be a bit decadent, but it was more on the drier, cakier side, which isn't my preference. What an absolute decline in quality. Before Covid you were able to order a beautiful thin crust pizza that would arrive with a delicate layer of cheese paired with a tasty red sauce layered on a crispy thin crust. Now you get a tiny thick half cooked soft doughy pizza that might feed one. We haven't been out to Lafayette in quite a while, but we finally got a chance to visit a friend who moved here. After our visit, we headed out for dinner at Pizza Antica in their downtown area on Mt Diablo Blvd. There's a metered parking lot behind the restaurant. Since our friend had her fur baby, we asked for a table in their patio area. Since it was a cool evening, the hostess turned on the overhead heater. We checked out menu and decided to share a salad and a couple of pizzas. Our waiter Justin welcomed us and answered our menu questions as we placed our order. Apple and Wild Arugula Salad - The arugula and apple slices was dressed with a lemon vinaigrette and topped with parmesan. Tasty salad but felt the portion was on the small side for the price. Fennel Sausage - the thin crust pizza had slices of Portobello mushrooms and purple onion with minced fennel sausage. Good tasting pizza with a soft chewy crust, but wished with sausage was not minced. Heirloom Potato - covered with slices of golden potato with some caramelized onions and drizzle of white truffle oil. This potato pizza was unique and was delicious. My favorite of the two pizzas. Justin checked on us a couple of times and brought us another water carafe. Very good friendly service. A nice restaurant in downtown for good thin crust pizza. read more

I had a lovely dinner at Pizza Antica. There was barely a 5 minute wait time for a weeknight dinner for walk-in. What stood out the most was how fresh the ingredients were. The servers were extremely pleasant to talk to and gave great suggestions. They even have outdoor seating with heaters. For appetizers I enjoyed their house-made focaccia and di Stefano burrata. The focaccia was perfectly warm, soft and had a hint of rosemary. The burrata was delicious as well. For main course I went with their fennel sausage pizza which I devoured to the last bit and their potato ricotta gnocchi which was perfectly cooked as well. I came here on a Friday night with my fiancé and parking was a huge struggle. We finally found a spot a few blocks away after doing a few circles and were able to snag a table before more parties came. Compared to the Santana Row location, I liked the layout and interior more. There was a lot more open space and lighting coming in, plus I liked the exposed brick on the walls. I appreciated how bubbly and attentive our server was. We ordered the fennel sausage pizza and made our own with pepperoni and mushroom. Both of the pizzas were good, but not as great compared to the Santana Row location. There was just something missing. We had a few slices leftover and they didn't taste as good the next day. I have loved this restaurant since it first opened in Lafayette 20 years ago. We recently moved back and it's just as good as I remember. The food is delicious, the drinks are tasty, and the service is great. My 5 year old has severe food allergies and I was particularly appreciative of how thoroughly they checked with the kitchen about what was safe for her to eat. I am a huge fan of Pizza Antica. Their margarita pizza is one of the best. If they have the warm brussel sprout salad, I recommend getting it. Wow. So delicious. Otherwise, I always get the Caesar salad. All of the pizzas are delicious and my go to is a simple margarita pizza. My husband loves the calzone. We chose the Kale Pesto pizza with butternut squash - $22. I really liked the flavors but definitely wish it would have been heavier on the cheese and toppings. The size was perfect for two people to share. We also ordered the olives, which were very good and tasted like they had been marinated in something citrusy, which was surprisingly delicious. The service was fine. The 20% automatic gratuity is irritating. If you need to raise your prices, raise your prices, but amount of gratuity should be left up to the customer. I read in the other reviews that they charge the same automatic gratuity even for pickup, which is frankly unacceptable. In short, the food is good, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to return. read more

I've only been here twice, but it's been a pleasant visit each time! We went there over the weekend and were seated very quickly. Since they were busy, we sat for a while (whilst unfortunately flanked by two tables with screaming children/toddlers, which isn't their/the restaurant's fault, but still). It took quite some time for someone to come by to take our order (my SO ended up eventually flagging someone down), but they were super gracious/apologetic about it and the food came quickly. The first time we came here, I tried the heirloom potato pizza (with caramelized onions + white truffle oil). I considered getting it again but was super curious about the sweet corn + peach pizza others have mentioned. Sadly, I didn't see it on the menu + forgot to ask about it, so I got the kale pesto pizza (with butternut squash + goat cheese) instead. The flavor combination was absolutely delicious (as was the potato pizza last time). The only thing I was a little less enthused about was that it is on the more oily side, but overall, super super tasty! They gave us a free dessert (Spruce's giant chocolate chip cookie) as an apology for the wait, which was a super sweet (heh) gesture. P.S. They remind you a few times that there is an included 20% tip. I typically try to tip 18-20% anyway unless the service is atrocious, but it's definitely good that they let people know this up front! read more

I loved the burrata dish (I substituted beets for tomatoes). The arancini was better than what we had in Sicily. My go-to dish is the Heirloom Potato Pizza, and I almost ALWAYS order this except when they feature a specialty dish. During our last visit, I ordered their specialty, although I can't remember what it was called. It had everything I love to eat, which is pasta, shrimp, and a white wine butter sauce.... YUM! The server had described the pasta to be "flat, but not as thin as fettuccine," so I expected something similar to pappardelle. The pasta was definitely not what I expected, as they were almost like lasagna noodles. Not my fave, but it was still delightful, and I ate it up. Reservations are highly recommended, you can find parking behind the restaurant in addition to street parking, and if you're not in the mood for pizza - we highly suggest you try their Fried Chicken dish. read more
