Great spot right off the freeway in Orinda. Quaint and small restaurant. The food is good, service is friendly. Classic pizza/italian American style restaurant. Will definitely come back again! I will mention though, I went with my mom who uses a wheelchair and it was difficult to get her chair inside because the entrance wasn't originally designed for accessibility. I hope they can figure out a safer way for wheelchair users to enter their establishment.

Hit it on a Sunday late afternoon, which turned out to be the move if you want a quiet early dinner. We ordered the grilled fish tacos, the beet salad, and the mushroom pizza, and everything was tasty. The fish was cooked right on, flaky and clean, with fresh pico on top. Plenty of food for the three dishes between us. Service was good and the staff was friendly without hovering. The space has a cool wood and corrugated metal look, with sports gear and brewery signs on the walls. There's a full bar with a solid beer list, a decent wine selection, and indoor or patio seating depending on your mood. Valet parking out front is a nice touch. Our server said Friday and Saturday nights get packed, with live music and good people watching, so the vibe shifts depending on when you go. Sunday afternoon was mellow and easy. If you want the energy, hit it on a weekend. If you want to actually hear the person across from you, go when we did. Going back to check out the live music for myself.

When we asked our waitress for silverware, she responded by asking if we needed more, even though none had been provided in the first place. We also had to ask for straws four separate times and never received them. When the appetizer plates finally arrived, they were still wet and we had to dry them ourselves before using them. Throughout the meal, our waitress rarely checked on our table, making it difficult to get anything we needed. While we enjoyed the food, the poor service made the overall experience disappointing. Unless there are significant improvements in service, we will not be returning.

California-Mediterranean spot with a big vegetarian focus, plenty of vegan and gluten-free options, and a solid cocktail and beer list to go with it. I had the Impossible Kefta, which was full of flavor and easily my favorite thing on the table. The Avocado Toast-ish held up too, piled with arugula, feta, and poached eggs. We finished with the Mediterranean Cocoa Mousse and it was worth every calorie. If you only order one thing, make it the kefta. The Turkish coffee deserves its own mention. I know my Turkish coffee, and this one was done right. Not burnt, thick and flavorful down to the last sip. Staff was friendly and on top of things. The indoor tables were all held by reservations, so they sat us at the bar, which turned out to be a nice perch anyway. Make a reservation if you want indoor seating, but the bar and the outdoor patio are both comfortable. Noise stayed low to average the whole time. We never had to raise our voices. Clean spot, well staffed. Parking is free for the first three hours in Broadway Plaza, so the logistics are easy. They serve brunch, lunch, and dinner, plus a happy hour Monday through Thursday with cheap bar bites and discounted drinks. Great experience start to finish. I'd come back for dinner or happy hour and bring friends next time.

It all started when one person in our group took out her phone to show a picture of her grandchild. The rude waiter came over and told her she wasn't allowed to use her phone in the restaurant! She wasn't talking, or messaging, she was just showing a photo. And....there were hardly any other customers there at the time! Then when we asked if we could get separate checks, he said 'no more than 4 checks'. That was fine, as we were 3 couples and one single. However, when it came time to pay the bill, the single person's check included someone else's food. She told the waiter she was leaving the amount for her own meal, which she did. She even included a tip. As we were leaving the waiter yelled at us that he could only give us 4 checks. I said 'that's all we asked for' but he insisted we asked for more. I asked him why he was being so rude to us, and he said WE were the ones who were rude! The guy was totally nuts. Someone thought he might be the owner but I don't know. He had an accent of some sort. Others in our group had experienced his rude behavior before. Anyway he's losing customers. We'll certainly never go back! I will mention that a second waiter (younger) who also helped us was very friendly and helpful. Update: after the owner's cynical response to my post, I noticed that he posted the following in more than one earlier review: "we have lately been hit with some fake reviews". Let me assure you mine is not a fake review!

When you walk in, vibrant colors, plenty of greenery and a bright space with friendly and welcoming staff. Even the bathroom has a vibe. This visit I ordered: CEVICHE VERDE with Fish of the Day of rockfish. Fresh, raw white fish with great texture from the choclo (large-kernel Andean corn), toasted cancha (corn nuts), and slices of sweet potato. Dish is served raw, lightly marinated and made to order in a cilantro-based sauce with citrus with a bit of heat from aji limo (Peruvian pepper) - good but a tad salty. Served with plantains but unfortunately, not crispy and more soft and chewy. The trio of empanadas: chicken, beef, mushroom was accompanied with an aioli. Tasty! Friends enjoyed their dishes with no complaints. Lacuma Kitchen & Bar also has creative and quality cocktails/mocktails. Ordered the refreshing cucumber drink (recommendation by our server) as I didn't want anything with alcohol. Bright, fresh with some sweet from sugar and slight sour from the lime juice. Leo, our server was friendly, made suggestions and attentive. A great spot for date night, special dining event and lunch. Located on the corner of 17th/Franklin in Downtown Oakland. Looking for an in-between spot (a sip and bite before dinner), we cozied up to the bar here for a quick cocktail and bar food snack. Both the cocktails and snacks came timely, and we enjoyed conversation and community chatting with other locals/tourists visiting Berkeley for a short time. After being ambitious for three minutes to find parking, I parked across the street on Durant. My friend and I arrived, were greeted and seated ourselves in one of the booths. Looking at the drink menu we asked for recommendations - I got Lightkeeper's Daughter, which has a nice citrusy taste. Side note but I love when they give us crushed small balls of ice. My friend ordered the Green Lantern, which was very good. I think the fresh Fiji apple juice inside is what made this drink stand out, though it didn't have the slight cider taste that you get from fresh apple juice. It was just good. Drinks get a 5/5. I ordered the truffle burger and good gawd was it delicious. I'd definitely order again. It comes with fries, and I upgraded to the Cajun fries they had. Lemme get back to the burger - I'm not a person who goes crazy for burgers but sometimes I just have that craving for red meat. This burger did not disappoint - the mushrooms were made perfectly and were in each bite of the burger with nothing falling off - you know how sometimes the burger is too stuffed and ingredients start to come off? Not here. 10/5 for the burger. It just might be the best burger I've ever had, no exaggeration. Considering this bar markets themselves as the best bar in Berkeley and I had a really good experience, I'd like to come back and try other drinks and other items off of the menu. I never expected to be wowed by the burger here, but as a fan of truffle I was glad this was on the menu. They have NA beverages and I was tempted to try, especially since my astrological sign is the name of one of the mocktails, but here is my issue. Why are we having NA beverages cost the same as alcohol beverages? It just seems like a rip to me, no matter how well you craft us some juice. Just my opinion, but it's nice they offer NA beverages since more and more people are letting go of the liquor. However, my point still stands. $15 is nuts to me. Have I spent that before at another restaurant/bar before? Sure have, when I wasn't drinking and I've decided that I'd rather opt for water or a Topo Chico if offered. The ambiance here was mellow. Very dark inside so I didn't get great pics of the menu, but the pic of the burger? Good and necessary.
